i've been seeing the previews in etc abotu this. and for someone na mahilig sa music (sino bang hindi?), showtunes in particular, i'm curious about this.

here's a description i found about it on the net:

The show revolves around a group of characters who come together to put on a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. But before that can happen, the people who will try to bring it all together must deal with their own personal acts. The series will feature original music by composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Just watched the pilot episode. It can now be downloaded.

I have high expectations for this and I was not disappointed. More than the singing, I love the way the story is developed, which was pretty much absent with Glee, the closest show it will be compared to, because both are musicals.

But it's not like Glee in the sense that the songs aren't used to express a situation or a feeling by one character. The songs are there in the series because this is really about a broadway musical. This is more like watching what goes on behind the scenes of "Chicago" (the movie with Renee Z a few years back).

It's getting critical praise. But the real test if it will stay, is when the ratings pick up, after pilot is aired on Feb. 6.

series looks promising... and it's far from glee which is too highschool-ish... or light... this one is more on the drama... coming from steven spielberg & the producers of hairspray & chicago... you know what to expect

this is the one i've been waiting for this TV season. i LOVE it. walang sinabi ang Glee sa quality ng music, acting, voice. ibang level.

also, i love Dev/Raza Jaffrey. *sigh* the accent.... think he's going to sing din eventually. woohoo! he wouldn't confirm or deny when i was chatting with him on twitter.

can't wait!

Im a huge musical fan. Yes may pamalit ako sa glee pag bwisit ako kay rachel which is every episode...ahahaha, sa diva ba or etc2 ang fresh episodes?

Watched it last night and I liked it. Ganda ni katherine mcphee. Loved her since american idol. Definitely will watch the next episode. Kainis Lang kasi 10pm pinapalabas super late na -after the voice

i'm not a fan of katherine but i loved the pilot too. well, i'm a sucker for showtunes and broadway din kasi. i am loving the clash of characters ni ivy and karen. pati na yung yung drama ng directors/producers/writers. can't wait for the next episode!

^ Jack Davenport plays the director. He was in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and briefly in the 2nd one. And in UK, he did the British version of Friends called "Coupling". He played the "Ross"-type character.

Second episode today. It's totally serious no? Walang quips ala Sue Sylvester....that's what's missing lang for me. Then again, Sue wasn't as funny naman na rin in later seasons.

Drama drama rin yung buhay ni Debra Messing (dunno the name of her character for now).

I super love the musical numbers for Smash. I loved the last song in this week's episode!
