Hi sis Faye, i almost have the same problem...pero iba naman sa amin ng kaunti... bf/gf pa lang kami after 1 yr decide to get married pero sa civil lang kasi we dont have enough money to spend for a church wedding eventhough we are both seafarer during that time and helping pur respective family (mine though was just starting...).  So he's an INC and i'm a catholic, we both respect our religions, but im more incline to mine, i go to baclaran and he accompany me...in short CIVIL lang kami kasi nahiya daw sya sa parents nya na magiging catholic sya if mag church kami. Okay I respected that even after a year nagpa convert sya sa Catholic.  Nakaipon na kami ng kaunti pera after several years of marriage, pero wala pa rin proposal from him to get married sa church. I even asked him," okay marry me on our Golden years together, kulubot na ang muka ko. "Wala effect.  I know natatakot sya gumastos ng madami kasi baka sumbatan sya ng pamilya nya, who always asked for money, sobrang bait kasi nya sa pamilya.

Now we're 6 years and a half married.  Wala pa anak.  Asked ko sya one time, kapag nabuntis ako sa fertility work up next year if he could marry me na sa church. I know someday, somehow...he will find it in his heart to walk me down the aisle....

I got pregnant kase agad before ng marriage namin.. although before pa nun nagpaplan na kami pero yun nga civil lang kase nga wala pa kaming ipon kaso nauna si baby.. my daughter is five yrs old already pero sa ngaun priority talaga namin yung anak namin,, since she started school already,, i havent brought up the church wedding again,, the last time i asked him sabi nya gastos daw yun,, pero mukhang okei naman sa kanya,, kaso nga marami ring gastusin ngaun [textspeak!] maisingit ang pagiipon sa pagpapakasal sa church,, gusto ko ng church wedding kahit sobrang simple lang ang importante makasal kami na may basbas ng simbahan.. kaso sa ngaun parang wala pa rin plano si hubby,, hindi sya nagmemention ng tungkol dun.. takot din ako banggitin sa kanya kase baka malungkot lang ako sa pwede nyang isagot sa akin.. :(

Hayayyaaay!

Pero of course pag bibigyan ko sya pero hindi pa sa ngayun, uhmmm pero sabagay para makapag flowergirl pa and bible bearer ringbearer pa mga tots namin  ;D

naku, mga sis, problem ko din to. ang sagot ni hubby sa akin eh di daw naman pwedeng 20k lang ang fund for a church wedding, we are 3 yrs married na civil rights din.  syempre dream ko pa din makasal sa church, sana next year na,

sabi ko I don't need a magarbong wedding, gusto lang nga max of 50 people lang ang invited sa church wedding eh, yun talagang mga kilala namin lang at ka close namin...hay!  sana naman mapapayag ko sya....ang hirap nga din naman kasi ng pera now....

depende sa inyo yan, how simple you want to go. simple as in minimal expenses or kumpleto pa rin like engrande wedding pero downgraded...matagal na ako kinasal but i'll give you an idea, what type of expenses to expect and how to save.

Basic Must:
-FOOD/ CAKE.  I remember noong wedding namin and for any wedding, the biggest expense is food/reception. Dito kailangan, ma-define mo na ang expected guests and what kind of reception. Sa bahay lang...may caterer ba or magluluto? Are you planning to have immediately family lang ba at kakain na lang kayo sa labas. You have to weigh your options here like okay if you have 20 guests tapos kain na lang sa labas, say at P600/head sa isang buffet resto and nothing to worry na sa pagluluto or magluluto na lang para tipid pero you'll worry about marketing, etc.  Tapos, i decide mo rin kung papacater ka, minsan may cake package na or oorder ka ba ng separate cake. Although for me optional ang cake. Kahit wala yan makakasal ka pa rin kaya lang traditional kasi ang wedding cake just like a birthday cake.

-RINGS. Kung meron na from civil wedding, pwede na yon or bibili ba kayo.  No idea how much are the wedding rings now.

-CHURCH. Yong sikat na church, mahal sila, ranges from P5,000 to P30,000. I suggest pakasal kayo kung saan ang parish nyo.  Not sure how much bayad sa wedding but I'm sure it's cheaper in your parish.  Even Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes - I think it's free if you are from Forbes.

-DAMIT/SAPATOS.  You can wear a simple dress na baka meron ka na or a simple gown - daming maganda sa divi na mura or pwede din mag rent. Divi is also the place for barong - madaling manghiram nito or mag rent.  Now, if you plan to have entourage, pwede mo sila iarkila or bilhan sa divi. Dati I suggested to my husband to have just 1 pair of abay para isang damit na ang bibilhin kasi I know someone who did that.  Ayaw ni hubby.  Sana we could have saved money!!!  Tapos kung walang damit parents nyo, you might want to buy/rent them clothes or baka may mahiraman din sila.

-ACCESSORIES - VEIL, ARAS, CORD, PILLOW.  You know you're supposed to have something old and something borrowed?  You can borrow from relatives, your parents or siblings para di ka na bumili.

-BRIDAL BOUQUET.

-MAKE-UP. Again, it's your option kung kukuha ka pa nito or baka may friends ka na magaling mag-ayos or ikaw mismo marunong.  You need to consider kung pati entourage ba sasagutin mo make-up nila or kanyan-kanya sila.  Ofcourse, make up ng parents, sisters, etc.

-PHOTO/VIDEO. For me ito pinaka importante. Noong weddingko, ginastusan ko ito. This expense can range from 0 to more than P100,000. If you have friends willing to shoot your wedding, you can save a lot of money in this expense. But then, make sure reliable naman yong kukunin mo like nakapag shoot na rin ng wedding at hindi kayo ibibitin.  Yan kasi ang problem minsan.  You agreed pero hindi na confirm, hindi dumating sa wedding day.

Yan yong basic na kailangan ihanda talaga. Did I forget something, mga sissies?

For me ito naman yong kahit wala eh maikakasal ka pa rin.  So you can choose to spend or not on these things:

-BRIDAL CAR, ito pwede itong hiramin kung may kakilala kayo or you can rent too. Hindi naman kailangan puti unless gusto nyo talaga puti so nasa inyo kung gagastusan nyo ito or hindi.  Sa City, noong kinasal ako, nasa P5,000 ang bridal car, Mercedes ata yon tapos may mas mahal pa dyan yong mga vintage...

-FLOWERS...this can be really expensive lalo na sa if you decorate the church, the reception, bridal car plus bridal bouquet pa.,

-SOUVENIRS..I think this is just an added expense...

-SINGER/MUSICIANS..This is optional pero maganda kung meron man lang tutugtog sa wedding march mo.  You might have friends na pwede tumugtog or kumanta.

- WEDDING COORDINATORS: be careful if planning to get one. pag pinaasikaso mo wedding mo sa kanila, nagpapatong sila.  Ako, ako talaga nag-asiksao ng wedding namin. kumuha ako coordinator on the day itself na lang.

-INVITES: I put it here kasi pwede mo ito gawin na lang. Pwede sa facebook, sa e-mail...Tell them na hindi na kayo nagpa print kaya through e-mail na lang.  Or pagawa kayo ng limited number for your sponsors, etc.

-MISALETTE: Optional lang ito. I made my own during my wedding...

Then you have to consider things like, saan ka magbibihis sa bahay ba o sa hotel.

When hubby proposed to me, I told him I didn't want to have a church wedding for practical reasons.  I just wanted to save and invest the money or have a very simple wedding with just our families, no fuss wedding.  But he refused.  While he claims to be an atheist, he insisted on having a Church Wedding for the sake of my parents.  It didn't reallly matter to me though at some point, I'm glad we did because my lolo was so disappointed that I'm the only grand daughter who had a church wedding. I guess, it's an old tradition di ba? During the pamanhikan, the female relatives will demand this and that. My mom on the otherhand insisted a church wedding for my brother -although they wed in civil rights already. My brother at that time has no means yet so my parents funded the wedding.  It was in San Agustin and reception is at Manila Pavillion so you can imagine how much my parents spent!

But then, given the choice again, I will still choose a civil wedding for the same reason - to be practical.  I am a RC (tough not very religious, semi-practicing) but in legal sense, only the civil wedding matters. If one day, you get an annulment and decided to re-marry, you can get married again in civil rites or in another church!!! it doesn't matter if  the catholic church wedding is annulled or not.  Ofcourse, you can't get married again in catholic rites unless the prevoius catholic marriage is annulled or the other party already died but what for - the civil rites alone will give you all the legality, rights, etc.  So the church wedding has no value in legal sense.  When you get a copy of your MC, the civil wedding certificate is the legal MC. But then again that's just me deciding for myself.  We have different reasons for choosing civil or church wedding.

Not pertaining to anyone, the church teaches not to engage in premarital sex and yet, when browsing the sex forums, looks like many people are into it.  I just thought, does church wedding still matters, when you're not following the teachings naman? Just like the church doesn't allow baptism when parents are not married.  But why? Di ba descrimination yon when in fact the church is supposed to be anti-descrimination. Just a thought.  I don't wanna argue with anyone esp on religious views.  Just sharing.

Civil wedding din kami ng hubby ko for more than 3 years.  Now that mag one year na ang baby namin gusto ko sana magsabay sabay na lahat, baptismal, first birthday and yun nga church wedding.

Kailangan kasi maging practical kami since we don't have our own house pa and siya lang ang my work sa amin.  Before nung wala pa kaming anak gustong gusto ko talaga makasal sa simbahan pero now that we have our little angel nawala na yung dream ko na yan.

Hi, Pls allow me to renew this post mga sis. Baka lang may makarelate satin.

I have gone through years of depression, agony, regrets dahil sa hindi natuloy na church wedding namin but now I'm taking baby steps accepting na it's not for me na, may times pa rin na bigla nalang ako maluluha pag may nakita napanood o napakinggan na magpapaalala sakin. Lalo na pag may ikakasal na celebrity it affects me I can't stand watching or even looking pics in the news (recently Heart, Marian, Bianca..)

But years past I can say my desire for it subsided na I want complete healing na rin in time. I found peace and realization there are more important things in life, appreciate my husband more now kasi recently we discovered the importance of travelling together :) and decided I will replace bad memories to good ones;) In his understanding to me now, recognizing my feelings was part of my healing. Pag may ikakasal kaming friend he will not ask me na sumama, because he knows I can't stand my tears falling (it happened kasi before diko matanggihan cousin ko we attended and that's what happened, niyaya lang ako sa labas to compose myself and him being silent lang hanggang sa magyaya ako uli sa simbahan to have pics taken sa panganay namin abay)

I have similar situation kasi but my hubby doesn't say directly na he doesn't want to get married sa church, inulit pa nga nya yung dating promise nya na matutuloy din wedding namin.
Bit background: It was recession kasi when we got married, afraid of possibly losing jobs civil married lang kami, then after 3 months I got preggy agad - parang mabilis lang ang mga pangyayari, then I lost my BPO job - that's the start of my dark times.

Ngayon ko lang kasi ata nabasa itong topic, I posted in similar thread before and for the longest time I feel na may mga sissies pala na makakarelate sakin and I want to thank you. I feel that I wanted hugs from you kasi even sa mga ka-couples ko hindi ako nag-attempt magshare ng agony ko kasi walang makakarelate sakin kasi they all experience to be a "bride". I haven't share it to anybody but myself, ang hirap kimkimin at pigilan ng mga luha sa tuwing naaalala ko, and only after 2-3 years my husband found out.

I am curious din if sis @FayeP @pillowski @Mimay28 are able to get married in church na, Congrats to you if ever ;D ;D ;D hindi na rin kasi bagay sakin maging bride I'm 10kg heavier na after 2 kids parang sakong nakagown magiging labas ko nyan. Now, I feel happy sa simple life namin, watching my hubby and 2 boys playing gives I feel contented na. I'm still hoping parin one day he will propose, but my idea of wedding for me changed for the past years (dati I wanted like rainbow motif pa pero now It's not my peg na hehe) iniwasan ko nalang mangarap and I'm looking forward nalang to more travel adventure w/ hubby  ;D thank you for reading thank you sa GT my way of venting out, sharing anonymously is one way of helping me cope  :-* :-* :-*

Respect the bf if he is not ready, hirap din sa feelings ng lalaki if financially at emotionally dipa sya ready. Kung live-in or may anak na deal with it don't make it so complicated at maging dahilan ng misunderstanding nyo dahil lang di kayo kasal sa simbahan. Eh parehas naman kayo nag vow ng love at responsiblity as husband and wife kahit civil. LOL basta ang punto nya be responsible as husband and wife. LOVE, RESPECT and FIDELITY yan ang bilin nya.

^ agree

and para sakin, if it was so important to the woman na makasal siya sa church, then she should have not lived with her husband yet and tell him early on, as in after the engagement, na unless he marries you sa church eh hindi muna kayo magsasama.
