How young is too young for social networking sites?

wow! this is scary. my kid is just about to turn 4. he knows how to surf youtube and other education sites. he does that with me around. i know some parents even create fb accounts for their toddlers. may oras pa the mother to do that huh! anyways, wala na siguro sya choice kung matuto yung bata gumamit ng fb. i don't know yet how to deal with this in the future. but i'm planning to homeschool my kid naman. hopefully it will be long enough to instill in him that there is more in life to enjoy than technology - i still wonder how i would accomplish that as my life is almost always online - because of work na rin.

there are videos on youtube na napapanuod nya na cartoons kuno tapos biglang magmumura. i would immediately tell him that it's a bad video, then ask him to skip it and he'd change it naman. i'm not sure though how to weed out those videos on youtube. anyone? basta he surfs beside me. when i like the video, i try to compliment it. or if it is a nursery rhyme, i'd sing along to it. not sure though if other parents could be this tutok because of work. i work at home naman kasi kaya ok lang.

kawawa naman mga kids. sa panahon pa naman ngayon na pag wala kang feezbuk, as if taga ibang planeta ka.

after setting the rules, let them explore the cyber space all they want.
wag naman kayo aaligid sa likod nila na parang mga GESTAPO everytime they go online.

mag install na lang kayo ng Keylogger para malaman nyo kung anik-anik mga pinipindot nila sa keyboard. don't also forget to visit the "history" regularly para malaman nyo rin kung saang parte ng cyber space sila nakakarating,

kung may violation ng rules nyo, eh, ano ba napagkasunduan nyo na consequences?

I think 16 years old is the ok age to start a social networking account. Marami kasi akong nakikita at napapanood na tweens nagpapakamatay because of online bullying. children can be so harsh to their peers sometimes!

so much regret ako yung turuan ko mag internet  and hayaan mag play ng mga games sa FB yung 3 yrs old ko pinsan, na adik ba sa games nag wawala pag di nakakapag laro and minsan sinira pa yung keyboard ng laptop ko as in wala na natira jusko nanlambot talaga tuhod ko haha, kahit di pa siya marunong mag basa and sumulat alam niya pano i click yung email niya kasi naka auto save, then sasabihin niya tita type mo password ko.. jusko! wag ako gagayahin di talaga maganda.

I let my 8 year have his own FB account but he only logs in when I am around. Actually, halos lahat ng classmates nya may sarili na ring FB account. I also installed net nanny in our laptop, at least screened rin kahit papano ang mga videos. I don't know how it fully works yet though hehe.
