good morning mommies! my baby was diagnosed with pc. naggagamot na sya pero gusto ko lang itanong kung talaga bang kailangan ipainom yung gamot nya ng walang laman ang tyan, pagkagising na pagkagising sa umaga? nagwo-worry kasi kami na baka sobrang lakas at sumakit ang tyan, kawawa naman. tia!
Yes sis kailangan walang laman ang tiyan pag umin0m ng pc meds for better absorption..

@dredlav:
It's lelet po, not letlet  ;)
Hindi scar ang densities. It may pertain to phlegm or mucus secretions, pero hindi ito scar.
Kaya resolving kasi there is such a thing as "radioloogic lag" na may nakikita ka pang findings sa xray pero clinically, magaling na ang bata. The fact that there is regression of densities and clinical improvement is a good sign.

@myjoy:
Both Isoniazid and Rifampicin need to be given first thing in the morning when the tummy is most empty because the presence of food in the tummy interferes with the absorption of the meds. If you give it with food, hindi lahat ng gamot na aabsorb so most likely mas matagal ang gamutan. It is important that you follow the instructions given by your pedia regarding the timing of the medications.

@rhylie10:
Please edit your post para mas clear ang post mo. No need to limit letters/use text speak kasi wala naman limit ang number of letters dito sa pagpost.
Not all kulani or enlargement of lymph nodes is due to TB or PC. As I said before, lymph node enlargement can happen as a result of any infection, illness such as trauma or allergy, parasites, etc. Basically, lymph nodes enlarge when they are producing antibodies.
No preparation needed for PPD pero aside from PPD test, if gusto mo talaga malaman kung may active disease ang anak mo, kailangan niya rin mag-undergo ng chest x-ray. Hindi enough ang PPD testing to diagnose PC or TB.
Try to backread for the criteria needed to diagnose PC/TB.
I suggest you discuss your concerns with your pedia so you may be guided accordingly.

thank you po for your input dra. lelet and ankynemd! so far, maganda naman po ang improvement ni baby. he gained almost 2 kilos in one month na gamutan. minsan, may mga times pa din na hindi kumakain pero sabi ng pedia nya, malaki daw yung tinaas ng weight nya kaya magandang sign daw yun. thank you po ulet! :)

thanks po dra lelet..di po kasi masyadong nadiscuss nung pedia nya yung ppd test, basta ang sabi nya baka gawin po sa kanya yun, kaya niresearch ko lang po at nabasa ko nga po dito sa site na to, and worried po kasi nga po yung timbang nya is between 10.5 - 11.5 lang po she's 32 mos old na po, milk nya po is Gain plus, nakaka - 6 bottles pa po sya sa 24 hours, 8oz po lage nauubos nya, ayaw po kumain ng solid foods, kakain man po sya mga tatlong subo lang po, and ayun nga po halos monthly may ubo po sya.. is it true po ba na dapat 12-24oz nalang po ang consume ng milk nya in 24 hrs?TIA

@myjoy:
You are welcome. Yes, your pedia is right, 2 kgs in 1 month is a good sign that he is responding well to the meds.

@rhylie10:
Milk consumption for her age should be 16 to 24 oz/day na lang. My suggestion is to slowly decrease her milk intake and not give any milk near meal time so her appetite for solids will increase.

@teri_28:
If there is no response to the montelukast, then I suggest you bring back your twins to the pedia pulmo for follow up. Also, montelukast is not a medication for pneumonia. It is a leukotriene antagonist given for patients with asthma or allergic rhinitis and as second line medication for urticaria (hives or wheals). Was there anything mentioned regarding the possibility of asthma or allergic rhinitis during your consult?

Sino dito pinrescribe yun curazid and natricin sabay sa morning before breakfast?
Ok lang ba pagsabayin yun 1hour before meal or dapat talaga may pagitan na 30minutes?

And then ZCure ok lang kahit may laman tummy ni baby?

@lenjei:
Only way to find out is to have your lola checked up. There are a lot of causes of chronic cough, hindi lang TB.

@puglover:
Isoniazid and Rifampicin should be given first thing in the morning, when the tummy is most empty to ensure good absorption of the meds. Breakfast should be given at least 30 minutes after the 2 meds are given.
If you give it with breakfast, then you run the risk of the meds not getting absorbed properly and not working properly.
Pyrazinamide can be given after a meal.

Thanks in  advance po doctora...

^ You're welcome.

@ankyneMD:
I don't think it has anything to do with the water temperature or in taking a bath. In fact, we recommend 2 to 3 baths/day now that it is summer and it is very hot.
From what you posted, it sounds as though your son's cough is episodic and occurs only on certain times of the day, I highly suggest a visit to the allergologist. As I mentioned before, there are allergologists in UP PGH OPD and also in UST OPD.

^ Pasensya na but I suggest that you do not self medicate. Medications should only be given after a thorough history and physical examination. Hindi dahil binigay before e magiging effective ngayon. Please have your child checked up by a doctor there in your province.

@rhylie10:
I suggest that you go back to your pedia with your child for a follow up check up and so that your concerns may be addressed.
Not all cough na matagal na ay dahil sa PC. It can also be due to allergy, GER or other infectious organisms.
Please also back read for the criteria to diagnose PC. I posted it in the earlier pages of this thread.

Does it have anything to do with his pc ba talaga?
2) Is Gain a good formula also?
3) Can I change his vitamins na lang to appebon instead of his milk?

Thank you po in advance!
