^sis yan ay yung cash na pwede mo makuha anytime, like savings, time deposits, etc. Kasi yung ibang asset mo like if nakabili ka ng bahay, etc, hindi sya liquid asset

I am happy to say na hubby and I successfully reached our target to have 1M savings last year. Although joint account sya at galing sa pinagpaguran namin pareho. Mas masarap pala feeling kasi pareho kami gusto makaipon at the same time may house na kami and  God willing matatapos na namin hulugan in two years time. Married for 4 years. Both of us are helping our parents financially although di naman ganun kalaki.

I used to work and stopped for few months kasi we relocated. Now, will start working anytime soon. My goal is to save half of my money kung kaya for my futurr investments/business. Yung salary ni hubby gagamitin sa expenses at pang save na din. Gusto ko maging matipid this year which is pilit kong ginagawa LOL.

share ko lang din mga sis. Nung kinuha namin yung house namin, sobrang sinugal at naglakas lang kami ng loob. I was jobless at that time at si hubby medyo maliit pa sahod and nagsesend din kami money sa parents nya.

Pero what I learned from that? kung di kami naglakas loob na kumuha ng bahay that time knowing limited lang yung source of income eh baka till now wala pa kami naipundar. Kailangan talaga buo ang loob at decided tayo kung gusto natin makapag pundar at makaipon.

Such inspiring post! My husband and I are planning to apply for a housing loan but my folks are against housing loans or any loans involving big amount of money. But husband is determined to go for it since baka walang mangyayari sa amin if we will wait pa hanggang maka-save kami to build a new house.

Anyway, the decision is in our hands naman kahit ayaw nila. I just pray na lang na kaya naming panindigan. Kayod lang! :D

@ikaela-welcome, sis. Ganun yata talaga, kung sino ang malakas ang loob yun ang nagiging successful. Knowing there is a possibility to fail but still they pursue whatever they want to achieve. Ang gusto ko naman i-take na risk in few months time ay pag invest sa stocks since marami ako nababasa na magandang feedback.

@cescilay-welcome din, sis. Go for it! Pero advise ko lang sis if you want to get housing loan, if you can, every anniversary date ng ammortization ay magbayad kayo ng malaking amount para bumaba ang balance and interest. Let's say good for 15yrs payable ang makukuha nyo na loan, wag nyo i-set na 15yrs nyo sya babayaran. Make it shorter, why? Kasi sayang yung interest na babayaran nyo. We computed kasi yung samin, double ng selling price ng H&L so grabe sa laki di ba. The good thing naman sa housing loan, kahit gusto mo gamitin sa iba yung money eh mapipilitan ka ilaan para pambayad dun kasi bukod sa penalty eh baka masayang lang yung previous payments. Although if kaya nyo din naman best padin talaga ipon enough money and buy a lot or house in cash. Risk is pwede magastos yung money sa ibang purpose.😉

Sorry ang haba ng post ko at medyo OT na.😁

Thanks for the tips sis. Ganyan din plan namin... pay bigger than the amortization para madali namin matapos at ma-less ang interest. :)

Hit my first million at 24 or 25 i think, working full days in marketing since I was 22. Medyo magastos pa ako nun because i would use my money to shop for whatever i wanted, hindi pa marunong magsave. And i keep eating out. Yun mga stress relievers ko when I was super duper burnt out.

I'm turning 28 this year, and although I have much more in my savings now, I'll be using up a huge chunk of that to pay my share for our upcoming wedding which we will shoulder ourselves. Medyo nagwala naman kami sa wedding kasi ayaw namin i-regret in the future. Ipon nalang ulit after before baby:)

im 27, i just got married last month. we have a 4yo daughter. my target is to have 1M before reaching the age of 30. siguro kung single pa din ako, kayang kaya yan. but dont get me wrong i dont have regrets. i loooove my girl.

mejo mahirap lang kasi sad but true, umaasa lang kami sa paychecks namin from month to month... weve just started our journey through financial freedom last year when we read rich dad by RK. which helped a lot na makapag save and invest kami. mejo mahirap lang kasi galing kami sa malaking gastos from our wedding, tapos ngayon ipon naman kasi balak namin mag settle sa ibang bansa.

i guess wala talagang makakaabot ng so called financial freedom kung aasa lang sa paychecks. thats why im looking for ways to earn extra income, and eventually want to have a business of our own.

PS: this thread is really inspiring. :)

i'm 26 got married almost 3 years ago. Working full-time kami ni hubby pareho. We never had 1M talaga in cash because we paid for our own wedding in 2012. After that, we bought a car and now we have two cars na. God-willing we finish the first car by January 2016 and the second February 2017.

So far, we have money naman sa bank but not much. We also have our insurance and nag start na kami ng UITF.

hopefully, after paying the cars, we can start na saving our first 1M cash. Pero mukhang we will be buying na our own place. No pressure though, since libre lang ang house namin ngayon at dalawa lang kami dun so feeling namin sarili parin namin hehe. opportunity for us to save save save and pay off everything.

Sana before ako mag 30 may 1M na nga ako sa bank hehe

Hit 1 million in savings (currently spread out in pesos, dollars, stocks, and mutual funds) when I was 23. I'm planning to write a book about how I did it in the coming years. :)

Simple lang advice ko:
1) Save whenever you can. I'll write ways on how to do so in my future book. :)
2) Kung workaholic ka (like me) work part-time/freelance as much as possible kasi the more you do, the more you earn (unlike sa full-time jobs).
3) Invest in different things (AKA don't put your eggs in one basket).
4) PRAY.

BTW, I started working when I was 17/in 2nd year college. 1 million before 25 is definitely doable. :)

I'm one of those who started saving late. I used to save a lot when I was 23-25, I think.. pero I spent all the money I had saved when I moved out. Then I went to live from paycheck to paycheck pero wala akong utang. Then came a time na I had a salary which is more than enough for my lifestyle pero what happened, my wants and shopping galores also doubled lalo na when my ex and I broke up.. halos everyday nasa mall ako. Retail therapy talaga..I spent all my paycheck on clothes and shoes. Mukha akong mayaman but I was poor as hell.  ;D

So I was alone, broke and a mess at 29. LOL

I started saving at the age of 31 when I got married. My husband and I reached our first million when I was 32.

I solely support my mom and send my 3 brothers to school pa, we also support my husband's mother, believe me, sobrang magastos. ::)

I'm 34 now and I'm still saving.. I'm proud to say that I was able to buy my mom a house and lot, we have a few real estate investments, we both have insurances and all those stuff you need when you die...and we live a comfortable life naman...

Secret ko? strict budgeting ,tyaga and save save save. I admit, there are a lot of lapse-of-judgement-purchases because I'm still human ,after all :'( Pero I always make sure that I get to save kahit small amount lang. I even have an alkansya sa room na more than a yr ko na yata hinuhulughulugan.. the last time I counted the money inside (yes, its an alkansya which I can open) , it amounted to 26k .. diba..d mo napapansin, kahit piso piso lang yan but pag nadadagdagan palagi, sooner or later, magiging 1k din yan.  ;)

I cannot say na ok na kami.. Nope, ang layo pa namin sa target ko...  ;D pero looking back 5 years ago, from precisely nothing to my name...well, I've come a long way.

Two things I learned though:

1. Money builds confidence - pag may pera ka, you have this inner confidence that doesn't need flashy clothes and latest gadgets. Kuntento ka na sa simple...
2.Money is also power - hindi na ako takot sa matapobre kong mga relatives. Che nila!  ;D

Correct ka sis. Yes, its true, nakaka-build ng confidence if you have your own money without even so loud about material things you have.

Sa totoo lang, its really hard to earn and save money when you are ordinary employee in Phils.
Khit ata supervisor or manager ka na medyo matagal ito to earn specially if me mga umaasa or naka-depende sayo like me na sinusuportahan ko ng mag isa lang whole family ko, 6 sila.

Kaya bilib ako sa mga sis dito at their 20's or 30's they already reach their first million.

I am working now overseas, hopefully next year ma-achieved ko na to.

Since I was 18 years old, I work already for myself and for the family. Working student ( Restaurant crew ) at the same time helping my family. I already experience the worst and even having a single penny on my wallet. Pero now I am turning 25, admittedly I still don't have enough savings not even have a thousands on my bank account but I already help myself to finished college, sent my brother and sister to school, helping my family especially my father who has a diabetes and even studying again to have a better job.

I believe in the saying " A dream is a goal with a timeline". This is what I learn from my previous manager on my first office job and until now I always think it by heart. Now I am saying that I will reach my 1M before turning 30. No buts and No If's! I will challenge myself. At the age of 30, i will look into this post and see what I have reached.

Let us believe! “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” —Henry Ford

Keep inspiring guys!

wow sis sparklingjewel
pano mo nagawa iyun? ang galling mo!  :)

Very doable ang 1M before the age of 25, sis. Salary lang yung source ko at that time, at sa lagay kong yan, super gastos ko pa in my first few working years because i never track nor control my expenses, kung gusto ko magshop i just shop. For about a year halos everyday ako umiikot sa mall after work cos im so tired and i just wanted to relax before heading home, so syempre may nabibili.

Burnt out and bored with that job, I made a huge leap to a different industry at 26 and that's when things really started looking up. My take-home pay doubled, i stopped commuting because I was given a car (with free gas pa) already, and we also got extra bonuses that year. So two years down that road, stable na ako. I just got my annual increase this year, +20% sya, so things are still looking up. Im getting a new car this month also, and buying out my old one for a minimal cost. :)

Truth be told, i invested my money in the stock market but it didnt pay off much in 3 years. So technically, sweldo parin lang talaga income source ko. What i've learned so far, is if your current situation isn't working for you, just keep looking for what will. If i hadnt taken that risk, baka di ko ma-afford to splurge on my upcoming wedding. It's nothing compared to celebrity or big chinese weddings ha, pero sa akin, splurge na ang any wedding na in the millions.  Kesa pagsisihan that we didn't do the wedding we wanted, my partner and I decided we'll spend for it and then just earn it back. Syempre we made sure lang may matitira pa for honeymoon and for our life together.
