try cooking dishes na may sabaw sis like sinigang, nilaga, ganyan. nung una kasi hirap din ako sa mga ma-sauce na ulam like adobo, menudo, bistek. pero pag may sabaw parang put everything lang in a pot pero masarap pa rin  ;D

beef tenderloin with corn and carrots

1. slice the beef into leghtwise, marinate with soy sauce, calamansi, bawang, pulang asukal and oyster sauce. leave it for 10 mins.

2. after 10 mins, boil mo yung beef na may marinate. let it simmer and hanggang sa lumambot yung beef.

3. after lumambot yung beef, get ka ng frying pan lagay ka ng vegetable or corn oil then fried mo siya (of course wala na yung soy sauce and all) prito mo na lang yung beef.

4. on the separate frying pan, put some butter add whole corn ang carrots na slice na into cubes.

5. plating ka na. lagay mo yung beef then top mo yung corn and carrots mo.  :D

this is one of my hubby's favorite since hindi na siya kumakain ng pork.

spaghetti ala me!!

1) ground beef
2) hotdog
3) mushroom
4) lots of garlic
5) spaghetti sauce and ketchup

saute garlic, add ground beef then beef cubes then hotdog, add grated cheese while sauteeing mushroom ..add spaghetti sauce and ketchup..
the secret: if the pasta is 1kilo, sauce should be 2kilos.. kasi sinisipsip ni pasta yung sauce eh.. malasa talaga dapat ang sauce kasi pag hinalo na kay pasta magkalasa, matabang kasi si pasta eh..

try my version of mango royale (www.savorythoughts.com)

Ingredients

1 kilo of fresh ripe mangoes, about 3 pieces, well chilled
2 cups of cream (or 2 225-g. cartons), well chilled
1 c. of sweetened condensed milk, well chilled
1 to 1 and 1/2 c.T of crushed Oreo cookies
6 tbsps. of melted butter (more if you want a less crumbly crust)

Instructions

1. Stir the melted butter and Oreo cookies together. Press onto the bottom of a glass dish. Pop into the freezer while you prepare the filling.

2. Peel and dice the mangoes. Keep in the fridge.

3. Whip the cream until double in volume. Fold in the sweetened condensed milk.

4. Take the crust-lined glass dish out of the freezer and spread the diced mangoes over the crust.

5. Pour in the cream mixture.

6. Chill until firm. Cut into squares or rectangles and serve.

Cooking time (duration): 20 minutes excluding the chilling time

Number of servings (yield): 6 to 8

Cook with passion and pour out your love for the people who will eat your dish - it works!  ;)

I seldom measure the ingredients that i use, tantyahan lang lahat. *well, i don't bake naman*  :P

For the past few weekends, I cooked kaldereta, kare-kare, and chicken macaroni soup for my "family", and they loved it! I don't think nambobola lang sila kasi ang dami nilang nakain.  :D Then yung "Kuya" ko, namigay pa sa kapitbahay at pinagmalaki yung luto ko.  :o Pati si "Nanay" ganun din. Hehe.  ;D Thank God for always giving me the resources  :) Next weekend I'm planning to go Italian.  ;)

try this recipe.. A pretty easy, throw-together meal. The hungarian sausage adds a new twist of flavour instead of the usual ground beef.

4 Tablespoons Butter
¼ cups Flour
2-½ cups Milk

5. Sprinkle in flour, whisk to combine, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until it deepens in color.
6. Pour in milk, whisking constantly. Add salt and pepper. Continue cooking until it thickens, 4 minutes or so.
7. Add cheese and stir until melted.
8. Pour in cooked pasta and ham, and stir to coat. Check seasonings and add more salt if needed.
9. Pour into a buttered casserole dish.
10. Top with 3/4 of the Japanese breadcrumbs.
11. Bake for 20 minutes. Grill for 3 to 4 minutes at the end to make the top golden brown.

I make killer Ziti! it's a crowd pleaser really. Mas masarap pa sa sbarro hehe.

Here's my recipe:

San Remo Penne Pasta
Salwater

Olive oil
Garlic (minced)
Onion (minced)
Carrot (minced)
Celery (minced)
Bayleaf
Dried Basil
Dried Oregano
Crushed tomatoes
Tomato sause
Tomato paste

Flour
Butter
Fresh milk
Cheddar cheese
Cream Cheese
Parmesan Cheese

Salt and pepper

1. Cook pasta in salted boiling (as in rolling boil) water as per the package instruction

2. RED SAUCE
In a saucepan, saute minced onion, garlic, carrot and celery. Make sure they are all the same size so that they will also cook the same time. once the veggies are soft and translucent, you can now add basil oregano and bayleaf. Add the tomato paste and stir for about a minute just to cook off that metallic taste. then, Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Season to taste and simmer for about ten minutes. transfer the sauce in a blender or food processor and smoothly puree/blend it. Mix it with the cooked pasta.

BECHAMEL/ WHITE SAUCE
3. In another saucepan, melt a stick of butter and add flour. stir for about 3 minutes to cook that raw flour taste. Add milk and grated cheddar cheese and cream cheese.  season to taste.

4. Put the bechamel sauce on top of the pasta, sprinkle a generous amount of parmesan cheese and broil for about 3 minutes to melt the parmesan (broiling is optional)

Good luck sis!

my own version of Chop Suey.
(i was forced to make my own version because some ingredients of the original Chop Suey recipe are not available here.)

Ingredients:
1.) Quail's eggs (boiled)
2.) 3 tbsp. oyster sauce
3.) 1/4 kilo shrimp
4.) 1 pc. broccoli
5.) 2 tbsp. cornstarch (dissolved in 1/4 cup water)
6.) 1 pc. bell pepper
7.) 1/4 kilo chicken
8.) 1/2 onion, diced
9.) 5 cloves of garlic, minced
10.) 1 pc. carrot, sliced thinly
11.) 1/4 cabbage, cut into squares
12.) 2 cups of water, salt and pepper, and 2 tbsp. cooking oil.

Preparation:
1. Sauté garlic, then the onions
2. Add chicken, sauté for 5 minutes.
3. Add 1 cup water, pinch of salt and simmer for 10 minutes or until chicken is tender.
4. Add the shrimp (simmer for 3 minutes)
5. Add the remaining 1 cup of water, and the oyster sauce
6. Add all veggies (in this order: broccoli, carrots, cabbage and bell pepper). Cook for 5 minutes.
7. Pour the dissolved cornstarch. Add the quail's eggs and mix until veggies are done.
8. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.

:)  Pasta in pesto and white sauce is easy to make.  Dati I used to get this pouched pesto from a friend who owns a commissary and food stalls so ang bilis lang.  Kapagod lang kasi to make one on my own na fresh.

I love to do chicken dishes na maraming sauce din.  I think most of the dishes naman sa internet easy to make, wag lang yung mga beef na sa oven ginagawa, I'm not that confident pag hindi ako nag aadd ng seasoning or mga herbs once in awhile.

Mine's seafood paella or as they say, ala-marisco. Hindi for beginners eh. favorite ko kasi paella, naging favorite na rin ng asawa ko. We used to eat at Alba's specifically for this but sabi ni hubs, mas masarap na raw version ko so why to go there hehe ;D. Sabagay may point din kasi siyempre pag lutong bahay hindi mo titipirin ang ingredients. My basic inggredients are:

For 5-6 people, in a paellera pan measuring 18 '" diameter:

200 grams arborio/long grain rice
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 pack saffron-I use only a pinch
EVOO
2-3 large garlic cloves, chopped finely
200 grams squid rings
2 white fish fillet (any kind of white fish) slices, cut into cubes
250 grams green prawns, shelled (head parts boiled for stock)
1/2 kilo mussels, cleaned
green peas-1 large can
bell pepper, cut into slices
250 grams skinless chicken breasts, cut into cubes (or pork, if you want- hindi lang kasi kami kumakain ng pork eh)

optional: chorizo slices, eggs and a few sprigs of parsley, lemon wedges for serving

It's super yummy ;D. ito ang go-to dish ko, super impressive kapag sinerve from the paellera straight to the table. Matagal lang prep time at dapat mabilis lang lutuin para hindi lata. Super worth it! Mas mura pati kaysa kakain sa labas.

Cheese Brocolli

brocolli
minced garlic
butter
shredded cheese

boil brocolli with water
remove from water and set aside

saute garlic in butter.
wait until garlic is brown. put the brocolli and let the brocolli absorb the butter.
top it with cheese and wait just until melted.

unless you're baking, cook according to your taste. tsaka try experimenting with flavors. my mom would always have her stock of mccormick herb products and incorporate it sa food namin. in the long run, it proves helpful because they could, later on, replace the sodium you add to flavor your food.

know your hubby's favorite dish and work on that, adding a new twist to it, maski isang ingredient lang, to make it your own. ako, i love keeping a cooking journal about my kitchen creations. i got my being experimental from my mom. try doing the same. that way, you  can come up with a compilation of your own recipes you can pass on to your kids. :)
