This is my dad's way kasi he buys a few pieces na mahal pero umaabot 10 years.

Ako naman I learned long ago cheap items last for a month lang so you end up spending more. Now my things last about 3 to 5 years.

Yes mahilig rin ako bumili nung buy 1 take 1 na shoes sa SM before but now hindi na kasi nga madaling masira. Ako hindi naman necessary na mahal lahat like for example damit, pwede kahit divi or thrift stores lang tapos mix and match na lang haha

For me, minimalist living doesn't equate to having cheap and inexpensive items. It's more on having a few items that can last for a long time which, in the long run, enables you to save more while still keeping things to a minimum.

Yung bags ko, namamahalan family ko and some friends pero when they find out that I've had most of them for more than 5 years (some even close to a decade), they realize that these were "good investments" than cheaper bags which can only last you for months. They're not high end and mostly RL, Kenneth Cole, Coach, and Cole Haan so yung few libo that I shelled out eh sulit na sulit kasi I can still see myself using them in the next five years or so because of the material. Yung quality ng material yung binayaran ko and not just the brand name itself.

As for makeup, say, lipsticks for example. I don't buy just any shade na magustuhan ko or mukhang maganda. Since I know which colors work for me, I usually stick to those shades and a couple na iba for other occasions. A max of ten lang, keri na. As for foundations, I no longer keep more than three bottles at a time. Those are enough to last me a whole year or two. Basta I have the basics and a few na pang-special occasions, I'm good to go. Wala pa yatang 100 lahat ng makeup ko.

Clothes - I usually stick with neutral colors and plain tops that I can easily mix and match. Recently, I found myself buying more Uniqlo because of the quality ng material - malamig sa katawan and matibay. I thought I bought similar tops from SFS pero in a month or two, may butas na yung ibang shirts kahit handwash ang ginagawa ng helper namin. So goodbye SFS na ako.

Shoes - I mostly wear sandals or flip flops na may back strap so Ipanema and Grendha okay for me. I only have one pair each that I alternately wear. Bawal na din ako mag-heels and I don't feel comfy wearing closed shoes so strappy flats and flip flops do the job for me and I no longer need to buy shoes. May dress down pass ako so keri the flops kahit sa office. Naalala ko din, I have a couple of pairs ng havs that lasted almost 8 years. Dibale nang mahal sa una basta matagal ang lifespan and cheaper in the long run.

Basta yun. I also noticed na mas less yung purchases ko talaga ng bags and shoes. Sorry at nag-litanya na ako

@kaiz,parang relative din minimalism sis. If you get caught up with those rules baka mas magfocus sa rules kesa sa goals. If you use a rice cooker every day and hindi sya nakastock lang, I guess this is ok. Siguro yung concept lang na if you have a stove top na, bakit pa kelangan ng ibang pangluto. Pero check din how it would effect efficiency.

Example: I got overboard and kept almost just a week's worth of everyday office clothes.

For me it's helping me. It's a process and i'm happy i've started already.

Clothes- eact type i maintain 15-20 each or less.i15-20 pcs pambahay top, 15-20 pambahay shorts etc. Not all like sa pajama i only maintain 5. Mas madali mag bihis and nasusulit ang damit ko. Kasi before may mga damit ako na naka lagay lang sa closet but reality checked di ko sya nagagamit. Sa pambahay ko i only left the uniqlo shorts/shirts kasi napansin ko na since they're comfy yun lang din naman ginagamit ko.

Bags - i now have 7 (2 luggage bags included) i plan to maintain 10 bags at a time. Included na dito the luggages, baby bag, travel bag, handbag, etc. My everyday bag now is either mk or lv which i think worth saving for kasi durable sya and i'm happy using them. Kuntento ako i dont buy too many cute bags anymore.

Sa make up since di naman ako mahilig i only have 3 lipsticks, 2 each ng liquid foundation, powder foundation, blush on etc.

Sa beddings, 3 sets per bed. Same with our towels. 3/person.

So far so good. It's making my life easier. My mantra now is to give away something if i want to buy anything.

Now that I'm earning a humble salary, narealize ko how wasteful I was before. I don't know where my money went, probably to frequent visits to Starbucks and shopping items bought on a whim.

Mas maingat na ako ngayon sa pera. I budget wisely, and before buying anything iniisip ko if I really need it. I opt to buy for more expensive items basta matibay kesa, as you mentioned mga sis, mura nga pero madali namang masira. Also, namimili ako ng pupuntahan. Napansin ko kasi I have a lot of vacation places in my list na kaya ko naman pag-ipunan but di ko ginagawa before.

I want to be minimalist too. Ngaun, I am living with my sister.

don't be afraid to admit that your life or lifestyle has changed.
if things like books, clothes, shoes, gadgets, etc. do not fit your current lifestyle, throw it away.

except for a few books, i throw away those that i have finished reading and pretty sure i would not want to read again like paperbacks and bestsellers.

a place for everything and everything in its place.

throw away chipped and cracked plates, mugs, dinnerware, glassware, etc. they're unsightly and unsafe.

this is quite true. "being minimalistic is a luxury. you could only have a few things if you have the economic means to go buy something whenever you do need it."

I became a minimalist just months ago. It all started when I saw this money challenge here in GT. ;D

Pag hindi ko kailangan, hindi ko binibili. Another thing is, I started to not buy things that are not on sale lalo na pag para sa akin. I still buy things on regular price if it's a gift for a family member. Yeah, for some it may sound like I am kuripot, since ang mentality ng iba eh sarili ko naman ito so bakit titipirin? I dunno, parang hindi na ganun kaimportante sa akin kung mahal ba yan or anong brand nyan. Pag nasa mall kami, parang wala na ako maisip na bilhin -- I am just happy with what I have. :) Siguro nga I have changed, parang it just came to me na hindi na rin ako into clothes, gadgets or kahit anong anik anik. I used to be the "abubot queen" sa bahay kasi, ako pinaka maraming gamit. - pinamigay namin. Even the plates, glasses, kubyertos we have, enough lang para sa amin ni hubby. Sa room namin, it's just a cabinet saka bed. We don't even have yung figurines/display sa house except sa isang picture frame namin sa wall and yung poon ni Our Lady of Perpetual Help. We like it that way.

True yung sabi ng mga sis natin dito, one advantage of being a minimalist is you are able to save more. ;)

Here's my minimalist style.

Shoes: 4 pairs of shoes na color black, white, silver, and red. And 1 pair for my lector uniform

Make-up: 1 Tony Moly lip balm in apple green, 1 pearl cream, 1 Nichido cheek tint, 1 Cinema Secrets concealer. Wala akong pang make-up for special occasions, ito lang talaga. Hindi rin ako marunong mag-make up eh. But then trip ko yung pink lipstick ng mom ko, mahingi nga.

Flat surfaces at home: 1-3 displays lang. For example sa kitchen counter top, 1 plant. Sa shelves, 1-3 displays each layer.

Marami pa kong for improvements. Anyone here na nagdonate ng mga clothes? Ilang boxes of clothes na yung naipon ko, but I don't know where to donate them.

I just rid our closet and dresser of unused clothes and makeup/toiletries. And wow, does it feel good! I feel like a thorn was slowly being pulled out from my side seeing my pile of shirts dwindle from about a 2-foot stack to a 4-inch one. And I I think I just might start dressing better too since I can see all of my good clothes right away instead of having to sift through a pile of not-so-bad ones.

It was also nice to let go of those clothes that never really fit that well anyway. It was those pieces that we ladies like to hold on to if we ever "lose those x pounds", but all this time, they were just there, sitting in my closet, making me feel bad about myself. It was so oppressing how those scraps of fabric could make me feel that way about my body! Getting rid of them was like me taking back the control.

I told my husband how immensely satisfied I felt after cleaning our closet, and he laughed. He couldn't relate daw and baliw daw ako. :)

Now my problem is how to get rid of all these clothes, shoes, and accessories.

^Natawa ko. I have those clothes as well. Never got to use them anyway, so I included them in the pile of clothes that we give away.
