^ sis, does your visa grant says a last date of entry? if so, follow mo yun, if not, i think pwede mo pa siya gamitin. however, when you get there, i don't think you can extend a student visa but rather renew it. although the application process will  be much easier na ata, basta prove mo lang that you still have a class after your original visa expires.

yes sis nakalagay sa visa ko is must not arrive after July 2, 2014, so maybe valid pa diba? I'm torn kasi between applying for a new visa here where of course may chance na madeny or dun na lang sa AUS na feeling ko mas may chance ako na magrant ulit since andun na me.

^ yeah, just do it there na lang. that way, they can see that you are really enrolled, mas mataas ang chance na igrant nila visa mo.

 sydneybristow , I extended my visa last month. Nag end ang visa ko March 14. Humingi lang ako ng panibagong COE at Study plan sa uni. Then applied for visa extension through online, much easier at less hassle pa. Ang mahal din ng nagastos ko kasi may 2 dependants ako. I spent $6k. Today lang na grant yung visa ko which is very unusual. Dahil usually 14 days lang dapat may result na. Nagtaka ako kung bakit ang tagal ng result nung sa akin, so I went to immigration just to check. Kasi yung contact number nila walang sumasagot and then I couldn't get into Vevo to check the status of my visa. Ayun pala yung case officer na naka assign sa akin ay naka leave without passing my application to another officer, kaya ayun pinagalitan sila ng immigration officer dito sa Darwin. Lol ! Hi everyone!  Interested ako to take up MBA in Curtin University, Perth sana. Anyone of you here who knows what are the important points to be considered when applying as an international student in AU? Is it possible to apply for a student loan?

Curtin Graduate School of Business is in the Top 100 MBA programs in the world. I hope you can get in. Best of luck. I can't answer your question re: international student. Loan wise all i know, is that only an Australian citizen can take out a loan from the Australian gov't.(HECS/HELP). As for other methods of obtaining a loan, maybe someone else here can answer that.

Curtin is located in Bentley, it is quite isolated. sasadyain mo pa talaga. if you plan to commute to school, make sure you can do so even during evenings. Perth's public transpo isn't that good. Some routes end before 9pm. so if your class is at 6-9 or if your final exam is at 7-10, you'll definitely have to go home some other way. so check out in advance the bus routes to and from your place. if you can drive asap, you can use your DL or international DL, then do so. better.

or you can sleep on the couch in their study centers. lol some are 24-7 with internet and kitchen facilities. haha some do that, but don't abuse the system. lol

now if you decide to take the commuting route, ask if you can get a concession for your Smart Rider card. If it can be applied to graduate students, i believe pwede, you'll only have to pay .50 cents for the standard fare instead of 2+ dollars.

Universities are so paper hungry. they will ask you to print a lot of stuff and read a lot of stuff. so invest in a good cost effective printer. Students usually end up with a very big binder before the final exam.

Books are expensive, more or less 100 bucks each. and i would not be surprised if some of them reach 150-170. professors will highly insist on the latest edition. bawal xerox copies.

if you ever decide to go to Curtin, join the Guild. you can get discounts at Guild recognized cafeterias, plus other perks. Visit Curtin's second hand book shop for books or notes you might need.
You can also sell your books there for a small fee, as a guild member the bookshop's commission will be smaller (better for you).

as a Curtin student, you are entitled to at least 2GB of free internet in the campus per month. invest in a good external hard disk, so you can go to any of their computer hubs in the campus and download your video lectures, tutor's lectures, notes, slides, etc, into your HD without touching your gigabyte allowance.

Wow thank you for the very useful information! Medyo pricey and mahirap talaga maka pasok sa Curtin kaya i'm looking for other schools din na medyo mas cheap naman ng konti para naman hindi ako malubog sa pagkaka utang. haha!

Just another point though, i'm aiming sana for application for permanent residency. If ever I take masters in business, will it be considered even though hindi kasalisa list ng SOL ang business related positions? and what difference would it make if my boyfriend has an uncle who has a company willing to sponsor me in the future?

^ No it's not too early if you count preparing your docs as processing.

But they will let you apply for the visa around ~Dec.

Hi, how long do you need to study in Australia so that you will be eligible to get post study work permit? Any estimate how much yun tuition fee if studying for 1 year only? TIA

I don't think you will automatically get a work permit once you complete your degree. I think pedi ka magwork while studying pero pag natapos mo na degree mo, hanap ka ng full time job and hoping sponsor ka nila for PR. About your other question, ang cost of studying depends on the course...

Ballpark figure = 900k - 1.5M a year. Depends on the major. This does not include your living expenses.

Some students apply for a new course, and apply extension for their student visa so they can stay longer. Mahirap kaseng humanap ng employer talaga.
