my lil girl is 3.5 y.o., she already knows counting 1-10, and recognizes colors. medyo hindi pa lang masyado sa conversations, as in 3 word-sentences pa lang usually nasasabi nya. parang chinese na pag humaba pa yung sentence nya..hehe. but she knows how to read a lot of words, siguro sight reading yun. ano kaya pwede ko una ituro sa knya? i was thinking if simulan ko na sya turuan magtrace ng letters o magcolor.... a bit confused here mga sis... ano sa opinion nyo? tia!

My daughter does not drink milk in her feeding bottles anymore.  She uses her own glass na.  She also wears panty and can go to school with it, without any use of diapers.  She only uses diapers at night.

My kiddo is 3 now.  He already knows the alphabet, counting 1-20 (I'll proceed now to 21 up), sounds of animals, colors, shapes, he is also good in remembering names, locations, and events. I also taught him to segregate his toys and used clothes. So every time na he will change clothes, he knows where to put it. He's also good in singing, sana maging singer pag laki  , dancing and drawing.

No diapers na din siya throughout the day, only at night. He's also a playhouse disney baby.

I'm so proud of my lil one and I'm also excited to send him to school

halos parehas tayo sis. drawing na lang siguro ang hindi pa ang anak ko - kasi hindi ko maintindihan ang drawing nya e. basta sinasabi nya kung ano yun, pero kapag tinignan ko hindi mukhang ganun. pero he draws and colors na. we don't use diapers na even at nights. binubuhat namin sya at night papuntang cr.

he knows most of the alphabet kapag itinuro mo randomly. kaya nagi-start na rin kami magbasa ng simple words.

so, technically, we have 3 years for him to learn those things. and a friend told me pa na dapat din by Grade 1, marunong na magsulat ng name ang kid.

^ oo nga children nowadays are so advanced. Nakaka pressure on our part. teehee! Kelangan talaga tutukan mga kids natin and find a good school to mold them become bright kids.

how to teach kids to read? this is my big dilema right now. i am working partly with kids and i am tasked to teach kids(those interested in reading) how to read.

this kids knows their phonetics, alphabets, can count to 100 (or more), know their colors (imagine, they can differentiate watermelon pink and carnatin pink, wth! lols). 60pcs++ puzzle, and they can do kindergarten workbooks esily. i just have to read the instructions. and now they want to learn how to read.

these kids are not even 4yrs old yet.

and i do not know where to start   i am teaching in english.

^ I haven't tried teaching reading. But since marunong nasila ng phonetics, I think you can start by reading simple words. 3-4 letter words. and then sentences with these simple words. and then pahaba ng pahaba ang mga words and sentences hanggang books na ang pinapa-read mo. in fairness, ang gagaling ng mga students mo ha. sana maituro ko rin yan sa anak ko.

^they are smarty pants that sometimes i do not know how to keep up with them anymore.  (jeez, i learn from them that butterflies eat like frogs! and that they have no teeth --something like that. LOLS and the difference between a monarch butterfly to the other kind. those stuff.)

i know  they are advance compare to the other kids. they were watching  leapfrog's series--kaya ang aga nilang natutunan yung phonetics and letters.  they learn colors whenever we are walking--i ask them what color is that and those leaves, clouds, house etc.  they learn shapes the same way. i took advantage of whatever interest them and turn it into something educational.

parang gusto kong pagsisihan. haahahah  if i would be able to teach them how to read b ythe end of the summer (cross fingers), they might find kindergarten boring! arghs.  tsk tsk by that time they'll not be under my charge anymore. but still. oh, they find preschool uber boring now. so their parents pull them out of preschool. and the pressure's on me.

back to my dilemma--how to teach 6 kids  aged 3.5yrs old to almost 4 to read. haaaay.

yes. i think it's on kids network dito. pero these kids are only allowed to watch tv for an hour a day or less according to the parents.

hi sis, try to visit leapfrog site. I'm a stay-home mom without yaya/maid. So every time I do the kitchen stuff I will leave my 2 year old daughter with the Letter Factory cd playing. She learned the sounds of the letter and she was able to recognize the letter itself. almost everyday yun nakaplay nagulat nalang ako one day when she started saying the sound of the letter and also singing their song. if you are not around yung mga nice cd ng Your baby can Read and other educational cd's pa watch mo sa kanya with schedule para naman di ma addict sa tv.check out this site i got from youtube.

im glad i found this thread. i have a 3 year old daughter and im teaching her how to read. may ilang mga letters na sya na kaya basahin. kapag binaggit mo naman sa kanya un letter, she knows what sound the letter makes. medyo hirap lang ako magturo kasi parang nasa iba ang interes nya.. so hinay2 muna.

mabilis lang matuto ang mga bata basta tutukan mo. or i-expose mo. yan ang natutunan ko in a month na pagtuturo ko sa anak ko. he knows some of the letters na kasi yung iba itinatanong nya kung ano. pero yung iba hindi pa. medyo nalilito pa sya. pero after 1 month alam nya na. review-review na lang.

i printed him some of those preschool worksheets. nakita ko kasi nagcocolor na sya within the lines. pinagma-match ko rin sya from those worksheets. google nyo lang madami na lalabas.

and i'm not sure if it's been mentioned here. yung starfall.com. and i also love this blog on homeschooling 1plus1plus1equals1.blogspot.com. nakaka-inspire tuloy maghomeschool pero once nagnursery and kinder hindi ko na kaya dahil i'm so bad with keeping up with schedules. basta sa ngayon nakakatuwa magturo. for the first time nag-enjoy ako magwork.

So far, our activities at home for my sons that I think complement the activities in their preschool are the following:

solving jigsaw puzzles
coloring
cutting
story telling
playing with the abacus
letting them dress up, eat, pack away their toys, use the toilet, wash hands, fold clothes, etc. on their own - to supplement the practical life exercises in school

We're not using worksheets - wala naman nito sa school nila. 

To develop their vocabulary, I try to introduce "big" words to them once in a while.

The school will have a parent education session tomorrow.  I will ask the teachers kung ano ang activities na puwedeng gawin sa house.

^sis, pashare ng activities ha. most of that itinuturo ko na sa anak ko. wala pa lang kaming cutting kasi hindi pa ako makabili ng scissors na pangkids. i have also introduced him to stringing/beading. old cartons na binutas butas lang ginamit ko and some of his puzzle toys na may butas. ayaw ni husband paglaruan ang food kaya bawal paglaruan yung mga penne pasta.

next year pa kami mag-eenroll pero gusto ko na sya turuan ng madami ngayon. the worksheets are just matching shapes, matching pictures, tracing broken lines, abc's with pictures and coloring.

pag nasa mood ayan, he would follow my orders to put his toys away. ok na rin sa toilet training, hand washing and brushing his teeth. folding clothes ginagaya nya ako kaso binabalumbon nya lang - sana matutunan nya nga at hate ko magfold.

favorite nya yan puzzles. we have letters din na pwede mo buu-buuin. unang unang letters na hahanapin nya palagi ang C-A-R para buuin. tapos next i-spell nya naman name nya. nalilito pa rin sya pero parang malapit na naman sya matuto talaga. sana nga. nakakapressure ang requirement ng DOH for grade 1 e.

assuming this message is for me--most kids i am handling have the dvd series of leapfrog.  from phonetics, math, reading.   at 18 months--the kids know their phonetics because of this particular dvd. i know too that they are way advance compare to the others. kasi at 3, they know basic addition and subtraction.  they know that blue and red makes purple. pero yung reading ang mahirap talaga.
