Booked an appointment with a psychiatrist this weekend. It's just curious that PF is less than PHP 500. I was expecting to pay around PHP 1,500 to PHP 3,500. So maybe it's because initial consultation pa lang? I really don't know what to expect (or why exactly am I going).

Would just like to share my experience with two psychiatrists that I went to.

I went to Dra. Cynthia Leynes first. I tried to research about her and only found her credentials. I didn't see any feedback (good or bad). I decided to do a consultation with her because at that time, she was the only one available. The session was so-so. She told me to recount the things that were bothering me. So I told her about the 2 stress points in my life. She seemed disinterested, kept on yawning and pinching herself (I'm guessing she was very sleepy or my story made her sleepy). She only asked about my sleep pattern and how long I've been having these feelings. Then she wrote 4 lines on my information sheet then said that she'll prescribe 2 medicines, 1 for depression and the other is a very strong sleeping pill. I was surprised that she already diagnosed me as having depression after talking for only 15 minutes. I asked her several questions like the side effects of the medicines. She was honest in saying that there were side effects and that they were addicting. She also kept on looking at her watch to check if our session is over.
I felt I wasted Php2,000 for nothing as I didn't feel any different and she couldn't help me process my feelings. She just gave me 2 prescriptions for medicines and told me to come back after a week which I did not do.

That's when I decided to get a second opinion and scheduled an appointment with Dra. Jercyl Demeterio. I must say that she's the exact opposite of Dra. Leynes. She was very warm, accommodating and seemed genuinely concerned. She asked a lot of questions and wrote a lot of things on my info sheet. She helped me process what was happening and she was able to answer the one big "why" in my life. She didn't give me any medicines. She said I didn't need them as I do not have depression and that I'm only going through the normal process of grieving a loss and processing my feelings is better than taking medicines. Her approach was very motherly and at the end of our session, she even hugged me and said that everything's going to be all right. I'll have another session with her next week to continue with the process of resolving my grief.
The only downside with her is that you'll need to wait about an hour or two more from your scheduled appointment which I think is a small price to pay as she's not time conscious with her patients. She'll talk to you and let you talk for as long as you need to.

Frozen Toes, sa lahat ng private PDOCs na napuntahan ko, mas mahal ang initial consultation. They lower the rate for the succeeding appointments na lang.

Yes, I think sa Cardinal Santos lang clinic nya every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Kapag Sunday, 6am-9am sya nandun.

Figured out why my psychiatrist charges less. She's still an intern and under the supervision of a consultant. I don't mind. I like her.

for those who have super tight budget try the out patient dept in UERM. P100 lang binayad ko..meron ka option to go sa private practice na 1k ata ang fee.. nirefer lang ako ng isa ko kakilala dun..

initially a consultant/ students taking up psychiatry will interview you then it will handed to the doctors who will do further assessment. tho i was able to skip the interview nagkataon me exam yung consultant/students kaya diretso na ko kay doc..

yes, me tissue ready on her desk.. and ilang pages ng notebook nya napuno ng notes.. she then ask pertinent questions like my appetite, how am i sa crowds, my temper, sleeping habits etc..
our session lasted for almost 3 hours.. i was so exhausted.. but we have continous sessions pa..

bilin nya lang skip beverages that are stimulants.. at babu muna sa toxic friends..mga friends na wala ginawa kundi bombard ka ng point of view nila sa problema mo...

they said that this "test" go from 10-15K/person and that all members of the family has to undergo this.

I'm trying to find dra. jercy;'s contact details on this thread and in pinoy exchange pero sadly wala nagrereply . kung may mare recommend po kayo ma galing na doctor , pa pm naman. I'm three hours away from manila but willing ako magtravel. sob rang sam a na talaga ng mental health state ko ngayon . I'm hoping matreat agad tong depression/ bipolar or whatever it is .naaawa ako sa parents ko sila na pagbubuntunan ko ng gal it. senior citizen na sila. I'm trying to cry for help pero alam ko di naman nila ako matutulungan kasi hindi sila naniniwala na sakit ang depression.

I'm still a student so I'm having a hard time looking for psychiatrists that charge 1k below, went to PGH to get a free service but I can't seem to be confident enough to go and talk to the ones in the opd, I had some sort of panic attack just by getting an outpatient form lol lumabas nalang ako and then went home straight.

I've read this forum from the first page to the last, nothing seems to be quite helpful for me please need your help, updated contacts and fees

i tried to contact more than 10 doctors listed sa website ng practo dot com, sadly most of them are on indefinite "vacation" of all those, only 2 doctors were available.

Dr. Rose Yenko charges 2,000 per consultation.

and then another one I forgot who she is charges 2,500 php

it's very difficult for me to contact doctors since most of them use landlines and who owns home telephones nowadays? I had to go to a sari-sari store para sa payphone, which was tough bec of my issues. I'll go to UERMMMC tomorrow and ask. A bit far for me, but as someone who doesn't have a source of income and manages to eat once a day, I need something much cheaper than the doctors above.
