I forgot to mention I'm also an RN. Pansin ko lang karamihan ng boss sa mga multi company is nurses din so being a RN is not a problem.

Some medreps do that. Ayos kung in love talaga. Some nga di talagang masasabing may relasyon eh pero naidedate ng mga doctor. Aba sinagot ko naman talaga sya na "sorry ma'am pero di ko sya magagaya. di ko kasi kayang matulog ng paulit ulit dun sa doctors lounge at sumama sa mga out-of-town dates eh." hmp! pahiya tuloy sya.  kwento ko nga kay bf ayun pinagresign ako agad

grabe naman pala talaga yung ibang reps sis.. nkakasama tuloy sa reputation ng mga med reps ginagawa ng iba..

gsk, sanofi-aventis, astrazeneca, novartis, roche, otsuka, takeda.. yan [textspeak!] mga alam ko na may car agad after training.. pero yung iba hindi ka tatawagan lalo pag walang referral from one of their employees.. or kng wala ka pang experience. that's the sad truth. but [textspeak!] roche wala ng reps puro specialist nalang so kailangan may 2 years experience na. yung novartis i think ganon din. not sure about the other companies though.

i started as medrep since 1999... newly grad ako at that time... no plans of being a medrep... im a pharmacist by profession and board passer but i was only 18 atthat time so i cant get my license yet until i reached 21. So this friend asked me to pick him up kase he is applying as a medrep (i dont have an idea what it was)... It was a Multinational Company... since may dala ako resume, i was interviewed (kakastress) then i just found myself on the training room on the following day. Training na pala.. my "classmates" sa training were from different provinces in Visayas Region., so sila na from there, billeted sila sa hotel na pinagtretrainingan nmin plus 200 allowance per day (1999 pa ito ha) pero kami na manila hired not included sa mga billeted sa hotel. iba iba un course... meron mechanical engineer, tourism etc etc na super layo sa medical course. advantage lang ng medical course when it comes to training is madali un product knowledge training. pero of course maiintindihan naman ito ng iba na non-medical course. So there, after 1 month training, we had revalida whereas for first revalida, 5 managers ang panel (selling skills ito)... 2nd revalida is product knowledge na puro doctors naman (they will give you real-life scenarios ng mga medreps plus discuss them something about the product). so in short nakapasa ako... then nagstart ako mag "work-with" sa mga vet medreps... na okay naman at nafeel ko na mageenjoy ako... walang car plan toh ha kase after 3mos ka pa lang bibigyan ng car at that time.. salary back then was only 8,500 per month plus 500 per dime/day. hiwalay ang atm ng salary sa per dime. kase un per dime noon is non-taxable. after 3mos i was asked if i want to have my car (kaya lang mababawasan ang per dime magiging 150/day at fixed ang gas allowance which is 4k/mo, so di ako pumayag. once na tumagal ka na sa area mafefeel mo na know-it-all ka na... so i requested to be transferred to provincial area... why?... eto advantage that time:

1. salary : manila rate pa din (if you started as provincial rep kahit lumipat ka ng manila, provincial rate ka pa din which is 6,500 at that time)
2. Per dime: 500/day (transpo allowance)
plus:
    for every exceeding 20pesos fare (tricycle, bus etc etc - kase di ba pag probinsya ang lalayo ng health center) it will be reimbursible.
Housing allowance : 350/day (eto kase di pumayag un company na tumira ako sa boarding house so they are giving me 350/day for hotel)

all in all umabot ang per dime ko to PhP 21,000 / month non-taxable.

hindi ko yan nagagasatos. bakit? kase... un housing allowance ko, sa pinakamurang hotel lang ako then lately naging friend ko un receptionist at binibigyan ko lang sya ng vitamins so kapalit nun is mga receipt ng mga nagchechec-in sa hotel. naka-save ako diba...

next: sa transpo allowance na exceeding sa 25, i declared all my transpo na more than 25 pesos sya... nakipagclose lang ako at that time sa mga bus inspector angd gave them vitamins sample for their kids... and lahat ng mga patapon na ticket binibigay lang sa akin na ipinapasa ko naman sa company para mareimburse ko.

so basically un salary na 8,500 at un 500/day na per dime - di ko na nagastos..savings ko na un plus un half ng allowances ko...

and yes d na ako papakaipokrita, sa sobrang dami at bumabahang samples na hindi mo naman mabibigay sa mga doktor, i sold all of them... although may takot i did that twice.

pano makaquota that time? - close ako sa lahat ng purchaser ng mercury at kung ano ano pang drugstore dun sa area na nirequest ko... sinusuhulan ko sila ng latest cellphone models, ref, and even car... san ko kinukuha? sa incentive ko... kase malaki masyado ang incentive.


may profit sharing company namin at that time... wala man ako car pero tiba-tiba naman talaga sa sweldo at perks at sa incentive... pero noon ito ha.. hindi pa ganun kahirap ang pharma industry... ngayon hindi na ganito, as ive heard from other medreps, malaki sweldo pero hindi na kagaya namin noon.


i get tired of this work, after medrep, got promoted as product specialist to area manager to district supervisor... then sabi ayoko na... so i ended up as the trainor/pharmacist and panel interviewer.

^ yup may age limit sa unilab hanggang 25 yrs old [textspeak!] but there are other companies na walang age limit

@hot.pepper not really depends on the company because there are companies na grabe talaga ang training and may elimination process like everyday may exam and if you do not pass you have to retake it the same day and get a perfect score or else tanggal ka..everyday new topic, the next day exam..it's like school pero mas matindi nga lang..advantage for those who are science-related graduate pero a lot of med reps naman do not have science background and still made it..ok ang training mahirap pero at the same time masaya

I failed in my NCLEX exam so i was so depressed, i want to earn my own money to retake the exam. we also lost our car bec of financial probs.

ako yung typical na job hunter, nakikita mo sa pelikula. I left resume's sa zuellig, Pharmalink etc. But my plan talaga is to apply in GSK. so i went there.

GSK is one of the best multinational companies you would like to work for. Very good standing and very ok ang working environment. took the initial exam for 12 minutes for 50 items. glad i made it. out of 50 yata, 15 langkami natira. and then personality exam then 3 interviews.

It was my first real job, commuting first is really hard, kasi parang ang dami mo dala and nakakahiya kasi medrep k sa multi company tpos wala ka car? pero pag close ka na sa counterparts mo, sabay sabay ka na. got my car in 3 months VIOS.

yes we all have the perks.
salary, gas, food allowance, travels.

-- BUT THIS JOB WAS SO TIRING. pero lahat naman ng work nakakapagod. but it was so rewarding.lalo kung kumokota ka. hundreds of thousands if you hit your quota way beyond. so parang ako at theage of 24, parang WOW diba. dream job sya talaga pag bata ka.

pero yung stress ng work walang katulad. saometimes mapapanaginipan mo trabaho mo, kota mo. kasi laki nga naman mawawala sayo pag konti na lang di mo pa nachieve. they say MR's from Multinational companies are very toxic., but i tell you, OK lang yun, you'll know when you passed their series of exam. iba ang level mo

nurse ako and some of my friends din mga nurses. ok sa gsk, kasi kung qualified ka and magaling ka talaga they will hire you. ang sakit kasi diba kapag nakita palang na BSN, di ka na tatanggapin.

i used to work as HR in a parmaceutical company with a lots of med reps... napansin ko ng super enjoy and pagiging med rep..  you are always on the field work.. pero kailangan happy person ka..enjoy sa field work..enjoy meeting different people at hindi mahiyain... kaya nga gusto ko na din maging med rep...
