Usual US Port of Entry Questions - Tourist

^Oh shucks!  Now I'm really scared.  I have a flight to US via Detroit as my POE.  It'll be my first time via Detroit although I have been in the US twice already (both via LAX).  Now, i'm having hard time deciding if I still want to bring Filipino goods for my tita in the US.

Sis LAX... I know mas maluwag dun but you know naman, we can never tell din. Kasi there was this Filipino guy na parang sinisigawan na nung isang immigration officer. Malayo lang kaya hindi ko marinig why. Yung hubby ko before sis, nag-stay siya ng 5 months then the following year naman, 6 months. When he renewed his Visa, dun siya na-question sa Embassy. Dineny siya pero when he re-applied, binigyan naman na siya ulit.

ako din, laging lax lang ang point of entry ko. once langako nag vegas ng point of entry pero ok naman lagi experience ko sa immigration. mukha kasi akong generic.

but i remember yungkwento ng bro in law ko, nung 1st nya pumunta ng us. tinanong sya ko may dala syang filipino food. eh nagpakabibo daw sya at very proudly said na may dala syang chicharon. ha! ha! ayun, hinold sya, chineck ang gamit at confiscated na ang chicharon.

^^^Haha, that chicharon talaga! That's the reason why asa database na nila yung uncle ko. Everytime he travels, palagi siyang nah-hold kasi nga siguro, may record na siya.

Sigh sis thank you ha sa tulong mo kinakabahan talaga ako...it will be my 3rd time kasi and as I said naka 6 months ako the last time baka ma airport to airport pa.

^haha sis i just got back from the US last month. kailan ka ba last na nandun? the best is to wait for a year or so kung na-maximize mo yung length of stay mo. kasi i know someone na pabalik balik siya, usually 4-5 months siya palagi sa US, pero wala naman nagiging problema kasi nag-aantay muna din siya ng 1 year before siya bumalik. ayun.. suspicious kasi kung matagal ka sa US then after a few months babalik ka ulit.

Sis March to September this year.  Plano ko to attend a show in Vegas on May next year by that time siguro 8 months na ako. ma expire kasi visa ko July.

Mga sis, I am already in US.  So far wala tinanong ang immigration sa akin except for my job and my final destination (LAX is my POE, thank God for overbooked Detroit flight I was rerouted to LAX).  It helped that during booking of flight, Delta was already asking for TSA information (where you would be staying, etc).  According dito sa US, TSA already knows if they will allow you to enter US even before your flight.  In my case, my family has stayed here are returned to Phils without any problems.  Since it was my third time here in US, at malinis na ang record ko so immigration was just a breeze.

^Matagal nang regulation ng FAA ang US-bound carriers to get APIS (or advance passenger information system) of the passengers upon checking in pa lang sa city of origin. Ever since nag9-11, in-implement na nila yun. If the airline doesn't or forgets to input the complete info, mapepenalize yung airline...they just added new methods of collecting the info ata now because sometimes, the carrier can collect it upon buying the tickets online or at the ticket office. Pero mandatory ito sa check-in counter...we get your passport number, nationality, date of birth, etc. Even before the plane touches down sa destination, alam na ng arrival authorities yung passenger profiles on the flight.

Sis, tanong lang po if you are familiar with what info you submit regarding sa passenger? included ba yong form of payment? and what info does the POE officer have on each passenger?  tama ba to assume that they have already pre decided if they will let you enter or not?

Kasi sis I am planning on attending a show sa May but mag 8 months palang yon since my last visit and the last time I went there 6 months pa ako (palipat2x ng state) takot kasi akong ma airport to airport..do you think magka problema kaya?  Also, my visa is expiring late july.   If ever pwede kaya ako pupunta on June?


Any advise? or suggestion in what to bring? -  POE ko pala is LAS last time din LAS

^sis, what do you mean by form of payment? The required info being gathered for the APIS are the following:

1.) Full Name
2.) Date of Birth
3.) Nationality
4.) Country of Residence
5.) Travel Document Type (normally passport)
6.) Travel Document number (expiry date and country of issue of ppt)
7.) Address of the first night spent in the US

Since everything is electronically stored, all your entries are also stored. I also have at least three entries spaced from 4 months to 6 months apart. So far, I haven't encountered any problems naman.

^^Form of payment? You mean, how you paid for the ticket? They don't ask for that info sa APIS.

It's ok if your visa expires July and you plan to enter the US by June. The visa validity is different from the length of stay the arrival IO gives you.

I, myself, am travelling back to the US this coming April (around 14ish) and my visa expires on the 23rd...POE last time was SFO, this time LAX but I am also travelling to LAS and PDX, exit ako ng SFO mid-May.

2002, 2006.  First to third time using my 10 year B2 US visa.  Hindi pa ako nakakapagrenew since I got one.
