^i don't know if this is like what you're asking about but I served as my Lola's chaperone to the US pero tagal na yun. Late 90s era pa...18 yo ako nun, 2nd yr college pero summer vacation nun. Wasn't my first time in the US but 'twas my first without my parents. Simple Lang naman, my Lola's totally blind and needed assistance. La naman naging probs. kasabay rin kami pauwi after 3weeks. she was a former permanent resident. She just surrendered her green card. All my grandparents both side PR card holders, except for my maternal lolo, who's a citizen.

Naku mabagal at matagal na process yang sa immigrant visa. Takes years, decades even. I posted here before, yung petition sa dad ko na ginawa Ng sister Nya nung 80s pa, last year Lang, ok na. Deadline was October but my dad let it expire cos he has no interest in living there at all.

^^ you're right matagal yung immigrant visa especially pag sibling yung magfifile nun. yung sa akin sister ko nagfile mga 17 years pa yung hihintayin ko bago ako maka migrate sa US kahit na approved na yung petition. sa tingin ko by that time na makuha ko mismo yung immigrant visa na yan, ay di ko na papangarapin pang tumira sa US. gusto ko lang naman pumunta sa US for a short vacation. masaya naman na ako dito sa pilipinas kasi nagagawa ko kahit anong gusto ko at

napupuntahan ko yung mga lugar na gusto kong puntahan. unlike if i live in the US i won't be able to travel as much as i want to. ganyan kasi nangyari sa mga friends and relatives ko na nag migrate sa US. parang they always have to work. they look too busy to have a little fun.

dahil sa dami ng nag file ng petition na mga pinoy for their family, yung mismong visa for immigrants yung konti lang ang iniissue per year. pinakamabilis na petition would be for a fiance or spouse.

@summer - ano yung mga questions na tinanong ng consul?

It was a quick interview. I was done in 5 minutes. No support documents were asked from me. As far as I can remember, these were the only questions asked (not sequential anymore as my memory is really bad. hehe):

1. What's the purpose of your travel?
2. Where are you staying? Who are you staying with? (I said I was staying with my aunt) -- What does she do in the US?
3. Are you employed? What do you do? From which firm? How long have you been with your firm?
4. Where are your parents? What do they do?
5. Do you have siblings? Where is he? What does he do?
6. How do you plan to fund your trip? (I said my dad was going to pay for everything)
7. Do you know how much your dad earns?
8. Are you married? Do you have kids?
9. Have you travelled to other countries? Where?

In between questions, he would either type on his computer or check my passport. But then he would really look straight into my eyes while he asks his questions and I answer.

^1st step is to pay for the MRV fee at BPI. Just bring your passport. The passport number will serve as your code in setting up an appointment date online. If you pay over the counter, after a few hours, pwede ka na magset ng date. Pag online payment, parang it'll take a little longer.

@coldsiren- wow sis ang dami info, Thank You ha, so ipapadala ko pala mga documents sa kanya, just incase they might need it, for sure pwede naman siguro mga copy lang ng original na documents padala ko diba?

^^ if you can send the original the better para lang sure na tangapin nila at walang doubt on the side of the consul pag nakita yung documents mo.
pero sa lahat ng mga nainterview for tourist visa na kamag anak at kaibigan ko both apporved and denied, wala pang nagsabi na tinignan ng consul yung mga dala nilang documents. pero questions lang talaga.
siguro sabihin mo sa sister mo magpractice syang sagutin yung mga possible questions sa kanya. para smooth yung flow ng interview nya.

mga certified true copy na lang kung di pwede yung original. just tell her na wag sya kabahan during the interview. good luck to your sister. i hope she could visit you soon.

hi po... marami lang po akong questions...

di pa po ako nakakakuha ng passport pero they say madali lang naman makakuha nun.. ang visa raw ang pahirapan...

Yung bf ko po kasi.. (kano and sa michigan, usa) gusto nia ko bumisita sa kanya... ngayon i don't have any property especially funds kasi.. i'm a working student po and everything goes to my education. ngayon po... he was saying na I should tell the Immigration officers that he or his parents are the one who's gonna "sponsor" my trip to US... di namn po kaya ako ma-deny nun? kasi i don't have any "assets" of my own

then po.. pwede bang maging proof ko para sa reason for me to still come back here in the Philippines, after the trip is my Education and employment?

Tapos, ano po ba yung dapat kong mga iwasan at dapat gawin para mas mapalaki yung chance ko na makakuha ng us tourist visa...

inosente po kasi ako sa mga ganitong bagay.... T____T kinakabahan n po talaga ako para dito....

help niyo po ako.. kasi ito na po yung magiging last na pagkikita namin for this year in case na matuloy nga ang trip kong ito....

back to LDR na naman... lol

one more question about the payment naman... is it necessary to pay the amount due, rejected man o hindi yung visa application mo?

^ hindi pa ako masyado familiar sa procedure but ang alam ko either deny or visa approved you have to pay the Fee, My sister (student also) will try to apply for the visa, since she's still a student I'm willing to finance her trip, some sissies here advice me to send some documents and ask for Certification of Enrollment (just incase they might need it) maybe same thing with you, ask your bf to send you some documents since he will finance your trip, about your other questions,wait mo na lang ibang sissies natin dito na may alam or try to back read sis marami kang tip na makukuha

@ McFlaura, kumuha ka na ng passport kasi may scheduling system din yung pagkuha ng passport. may mga slots din yung appointment sa dfa, kaya baka 3 months from now pa yung makuha mo na appointment sa dfa kung walang schedule na available. at kailangan mo yung passport number at issue date and expiration date ng passport mo sa tourist visa application mo. more than 1 week yung pag antay sa pag issue ng passport.

yes, you have to pay for the visa application. babayaran mo yun before the interview.

mag back read ka na lang for your other questions kasi most likely nasagot na yung tanong mo.

hows the VRP? i'll be renewing my visa together with my family. Im over 21 and my mother said its better parin daw as a family to apply for visa. All of us are eligible for VRP except for my father kasi more than one year na expired visa niya.

I am currently not working now so Im hoping they wont ask me anything about employment. Sabi no questions daw for VRP (crossing my fingers on it)

^yes sis, sobrang dali ng vrp.  my parents and siblings (all are over 21 yo) recently renewed their visas. questions/clarification lang about your prior US trips and fingerprinting daw.

Mga sis question lang po. Im scheduled for my interview on march 29 for my petition as in Immigrant from my mom. but my passport will expire on september 2012. do i still need to renew my passport po? because if ma aapprove yung petition ko my mom wants me to go there on may 2012.. im worried kasi if ill renew it now yung passport number ko will change na so [textspeak!] mga sa documents ko mag iiba din [textspeak!] passport number. thank you po..

^ sis, what I did was include it in my first name..
ex:  Surname: Dela Cruz
       Given Name: Juan Rivera --> Rivera being the middle name
