I know quitting is hard pero if you have the motivation to quit you can do it. :)

I dont know how long since I stopped smoking. At first ang hirap nia, especially if bigla nalang mag-stop. So ginawa ko I decrease gradually until hindi ko na sha hinahanap regularly.

may ilang effects after quitting na medyo na-resolve ng nicotine patch. ;D

gained a few pounds din but lost them eventually after a week of pedometer challenge.

Nung mga first weeks, parang lagi akong may ubo and sipon.  :'( Tas laging nagtitingle mga appendages ko. As in! Intolerable headaches, stomach cramps, minsan feeling ko din gusto ko magpuke (pero di naman talaga ako susuka).

And... naging insomniac ako for a while! ;D Mmmmmm... tumakaw din ata ako. I'm not sure pero parang lagi akong nagugutom, ganun yung feeling.

College pa'ko non. May naka-advertise dating Nicotine patches sa Mercury Drug sa philcoa. Nicorette yung brand nya. :) I'm not sure kung meron pa din nun. Check mo lang sa mga drug stores sis or online din siguro.   ;)

Sis, Nicorette is a gum diba. its not a nicotine patch. but it is also used to lessen the urge to smoke.

For those who really wants to quit, try champix... it's a pill to be taken once a day. You can still smoke but you wont feel the effect of smoking. After few days or weeks, depende kasi sa tao if they really want to quit, stop the champix and dont smoke. It wont be as hard as nag quit ka lang... medyo di mo na hanapin mag smoke kasi wala na nga effect since mag start ka mag champix...

It took 6 champix 0.5mg for me... di ko pa inaraw araw... 1 week na ko di nag smoke and di nag take ng pill. Feels great!

whew! i started smoking when i was 13.. super bad girl  :-X turning 21 on march na pero chain smoker pa din, pareho kami ni hubby.. 2 packs of marlboro green kaya kong ubusin in 1 day.. 4 hours of gimik 1 1/2 pack ubos saken.. nagsstop lang ako pag preggy ako, sometimes hindi ko alam na preggy ako tapos yung feeling na kalahati pa lang ng stick makes you wanna vomit, thats when i know im preggy na pala.. but then after giving birth, 1 month pa lang pahinga smoke na agad, kahit masakit pa sa lalamunan shempre you stopped smoking for 9 mos ayun pinipilit ko pa din magsmoke..

i have PLANS to quit, but plan pa lang kasi kahit overnight ko syang pag isipan, after waking up, nakalimutan ko na naman.

natawa naman ako dito... ;D

in my case naman, kung lagi mo iisipin na mag-quit ka na, eventually it will happen. It happened to me, and im still nicotine free...

sana lang this goes forever....

Read this from EverydayHealth.com. Might help to those who are trying hard to quit.  ;)

"5 Great Reasons to Quit Smoking"
If you still need good reasons to quit smoking, here's the ultimate list.

Why should you stop smoking? That's the question that kicks off every attempt at smoking cessation. Here are five overwhelming reasons to quit smoking for good.

   1. You’ll Live Longer if You Quit Smoking

To quit smoking is to literally gain a new lease on life. "There's no single thing you can do to your body on a regular basis that's as negative as smoking," says Thomas Glynn, PhD, director of cancer science and trends and international cancer control for the American Cancer Society. "The Surgeon General said it causes damage to nearly every organ in your body."

About half of all smokers who continue with their habit will die of a smoking-related disease, according to the American Cancer Society. Cancer is the biggie, of course; smoking is linked to 15 forms of cancer. Then there's lung disease, heart disease, and other smoking-related illnesses. Male smokers lose an average of 13.2 years of life due to smoking, while female smokers lose an average of 14.5 years of life.

Don't fall for the old dodge that it's too late to quit smoking because “the damage is already done.” "There's a lot of data to suggest that quitting at any age is positive for your health," Glynn says. People who quit smoking at age 50 cut their odds of dying during the next 15 years in half.
   2. You’ll Be Protecting Family and Friends if You Quit Smoking

Smokers aren't just taking themselves down. They're also harming everyone exposed to their smoke. #

Says Glynn, "Secondhand smoke kills about 50,000 people a year and sickens many more, particularly children."

Secondhand smoke contains all the same carcinogens found in the smoke that's been inhaled into your lungs. Infants and children in smokers' homes suffer more colds, bronchitis, ear infections, and other lung and breathing problems than kids in smoke-free homes.
# Your Body Can Start to Repair Itself When You Quit Smoking

Your body starts repairing itself within hours after that last cigarette. "You start getting your strength back within a week to 10 days after you quit," Glyn says. "You also get back your sense of smell and taste. " Your heart rate and blood pressure drops almost immediately, and within weeks your circulation and ability to breathe improve dramatically.

You’ll also look better. Smoking prematurely ages the skin, causing wrinkles. Smoking stains your teeth, fingers, and fingernails, and causes bad breath.
# People Will Like You More if You Quit Smoking

Smoking is much less socially acceptable these days. Nearly all workplaces ban smoking from buildings. Some landlords don't rent to smokers, due to higher maintenance costs and more expensive insurance rates. Most public events are now smoke-free, and more states and communities are enacting laws to ban smoking from all indoor public places, including bars and restaurants.

A survey of current and former New York City smokers found that 81 percent agreed that most folks wouldn't hire a smoker to care for their children, 72 percent thought non-smokers would be reluctant to date a smoker, and 39 percent believe most people think less of smokers.
# You’ll Be Saving Money

Smoking is a very expensive habit. "The average smoker spends about $2,200 a year on tobacco use," Glynn says. Just add up all the money you're spending on a day's worth of smokes, then multiply that by 365. Don't forget to figure in higher health and life insurance rates, as well as higher health care costs down the line when your habit catches up with you.

Your health, your family, your finances — what reason could you possibly have not to quit?

Hi mga sis, a friend of mine is trying to quit smoking too (partly because all the dying patients in the IM wards right now are smokers)

I just want to share, this article motivated her to quit more than ever:

Smoking causes your breasts to sag

plus this Oral Cancer Video

and an Actual Oral Cancer Patient

Please don't think that this will never happen to you.

I don't smoke so I never thought I'd have cancer, but I did.

Goodluck to everyone. I wish you all the best =)

I finally quit smoking after five years! :)

http://chroniclesofvanity.blogspot.com/2010/06/we-broke-up.html

good for you sis teeyah.

I stopped smoking way back in Aug 2006.  I never looked back.  ;)

At first it was really hard, esp since I used to have a stick after every meal and more when I was out drinking.  For some reason back then, booze and nicotine are inseparable for me.  I tried to decrease the sticks I smoked, replaced them with coffee after every meal,  then one night at a party, I survived it without even having a single drag from my friends' sticks.   I thought to myself, wow, I can do without smoking when I'm out drinking so definitely I can do without smoking.  So there. :)

Happy ako sa decision ko to quit because I don't find it hard to breathe when I'm running late in the morning, my skin looks better, no stale smell of smoke in my hair and my fave part: I've saved up some amount because I don't buy cigarettes anymore.  The extra money na supposedly intended for cigarettes, I used na lang for books at Booksale or some nice-smelling hand lotion or BTIC fro yo, mga little treats for myself.  :)

kaya nyo yan mga sis, mind over matter. ;)

True sis! :) I noticed the smell, too. Pero I am tempted nowadays, minsan dahil sa stress. Di pa naman full on ang pagbalik but it's scary! :( Mind over matter, as you said.
