on our recent trip, my husband and I (on our late 20s) got the joint travel comprehensive insurance from Medibank... the premium we paid for was only about $250 (total) and let me tell you, it's the best $250 we ever spent because we lost our DSLR worth way more than $250.

Obviously covered yun loss nung camera dun and we're reimbursed the full amount... bawing bawi sya

Just bought Blue Cross travel insurance online for our Schengen visa application. So, no need to look for a travel agent na. Very convenient!

Bought travel insurance only once as it was required for visa application of our EU trip in Sept 2011. I got ours from AXA life via online.

Ngayon ko lang narealize na importante talaga to, lalo na kung kasama parents. Nung pumunta kami ng HK, nagkaroon ng hypertension mom ko. Di namin nasunod lahat ng nasa itinerary ko at magastos ang meds at check up. Kukuha talaga ako ng travel insurance para sa trip namin next month.

For my Europe trip, I bought my travel insurance from Malayan. They're cheaper compared to Blue Cross. They have 15 days, 24 days, etc. Their 15 days is Php 1,100 only. Since 17 days yung travel days ko pasok nako sa 24 days nila w/c is for Php 1,560. I just sent an inquiry in their website and then an agent contacted me na. Sobrang smooth ng transaction namin, puro emails lang. Regarding the payment, the agent just sent me a credit card authorization form via email. I printed and filled it out and then scan again and emailed it to her. The travel insurance was delivered to me 1 day after I paid it.

   I availed of Chartis travel insurance required kasi for our Schengen visa. I paid 4,316.00 good for   45- 51 days  Our travel period is for 30 days. Below is a partial  list of travel insurance accredited with Schengen visa.

Every tour operator pushes ASSIST.  Lol

Well, in 2002 - our luggage was lost for 5 days; we were in Paris.
In 20o6,  1 of us lost an expired passport with a 5yr current US Visa.
In 2008, 1 of us got a severe allergy reaction and got hospital medical attention at the cost of $1200 at Cedar Sinai.

In all 3 instances, we got no reimbursement nor assistance at the time & place we needed.

We followed the documentary requirements for claims once back here --   but there would always be some 1 tiny detail na insist on nila -- na per forms hindi naman required or clear na required.  Mga redundant little obscure details they just spring on you.

The lost passport --  the Barcelona Assist did not bother to return calls or assist at all.
Ang pest* eh linagay pa sa report nya --  when we tried to claim here, and as support doc to notification of loss sa Mla US Embassy for visa replacement --  "alleges passport etc etc etc". Yung wording nya, parang ka duda duda circumstances of loss. Imbes  "Assist" eh hostile  Witness pa! Sabi na lang sa US embassy:  "lost in translation"

So, sa French Embassy or for Schengen & British Embassy -- what insurance do you use??? Na accepted naman?
Ayoko na Assist that gives NO Assistance.  Ang mahal pa!  For doc requirements lang din pala ito, so any insurance acceptable to the embassies ok na.

Hi! I checked he travel insurance offered by AIG. For 489 (5-6 days travel in Asia), I get the following coverage:

Medical Expense: up to 1M
Medical Evacuation: Unlimited
Repatriation Expense: Unlimited
Child Guard: Travel costs plus up to 5k per day
Compassionate visits: Travel costs plus up to 5k per day
Baggage Delay: Up to 5k per 12 hours
Trip Cancellation: Up to 150k (Deductible 500)
Trip Termination: Up to 150k (Deductible 500)
Baggage and Personal effects: up to 50k subject to limit of 7k for any one item (deductible 500)
Flight delay: Up to 2k per 12 hours
Loss of travel documents: 50k

AIG is not Schengen accredited? I looked into the Malayan Insurance website and Israel is not included
in the list. I want something more comprehensive than Blue Cross sana, the one that includes car rental
protection.

Tagal na palang post ito but I hope this would still help someone. I had bought policies from them a few times in the past, every time as a solo traveler. It's inexpensive so I bought them to supplement my existing policy. The length of coverage varies from days to weekly increments, or even longer. Pure online transactions via website and email, and they reply fast if you have any questions. They charge in USD via CC. Part of your payment supposedly goes to charity projects.

However, I have never had to file any sort of claims from any of the travel insurance companies I bought from (knock on wood) so I can't say about the service of World Nomads' claims department when you need their benefits na.
