^ i beg to disagree. :D yung drinking water hindi naman unsafe to be used as face mist. if its safe to drink then most likely its safe to be used as a face mist also. following the principle na if one has dry skin, first thing na kailangan imodify is the water intake to provide enough hydration sa skin, then it logically follows na kung gusto mo lang din i-hydrate topically ang skin, you can use plain drinking water as face mist.

mas safe pa nga ang drinking water to be used as face mists since its usually the additives sa ibang face mists that cause breakouts or pore buildups e, since they also contain traces of emollients that keep the moisture in, so kung medyo acne prone ka, may face mists that can also cause breakouts especially to those who have open pores. :)

Hindi lang siguro pwede ang drinking water as face mist kung kunwari gagamitin mo yung mist as pang-set ng makeup to make it last longer.

Regarding the residue thing, hindi naman siguro water straight from the faucet ang gagamitin to have such accumulations, kung safe nga ipangligo, then most likely pwede rin naman din gamitin pang-hydrate sa face :D yun nga lang MAS safe ang mineral water or other filtered/purified water. Kung sosyal ka naman you can use alkaline water (to neutralize acidity) or Evian drinking water as face mist. :)

Yes, technically, you could fill a spray bottle with drinking water or plain water, but the whole point of facial mists is, to refresh conveniently. it's not like we can splash ourselves with water anytime or anywhere. so why not treat yourself to one, considering the added benefits of these products.  :)

Using facial mists like Evian is best especially if you travel a lot in planes, or stay for long hours in aircon rooms where the air is dry and could make your skin thirsty. In fact they were originally used in burn clinics before they were sold to the public. I agree, it's much of a hype these days, but it has its own benefits compared to ordinary water. They have more minerals to nourish our skin. And after many years of using Evian, I swear by it. Ordinary water evaporates fast compared to water from facial mists that's why it hydrates wonderfully, i dunno what they have in them but they don't dry up too quickly. You can even spray Evian with your eyes open which I cannot do with ordinary or drinking water. perhaps it's because of the fine mist it has. But then, unless you have a very good water source, or a very pure drinking water, you can use it. But here sa pinas, our water sources and even yung mga binibilhan natin ng purified/mineral water could not be really sanitized. Drinking water can contain heavy minerals and chemical purifiers pa, kaya yung ph is more of alakaline. that's why alkaline water, while it is good for drinking, may upset our skin's normal ph which is slightly acidic (5.5 - 6.5) to protect us from bacteria. Most of the plain water we have here are not ph balanced pa.

The mist (not spray or spritz) helps too kasi water is absorbed best by the skin if it clings to the fine hairs in droplets compared to washing or soaking your face in water. So why not spend a few pesos if a product can hydrate, refresh, moisturize and set make-up all at the same time?  :)

^ but the point is, not everyone can afford to purchase such mists  that has added benefits. :D

you directly said that WAG gumamit ng drinking water eh and thats what I disagreed on, parang hindi naman ata kasi tama na sabihin outright na wag when you are trying to say lang pala na MAS okay ang mga mists na formulated talaga and are being sold as facial mists. :D

and IMHO, hindi lang naman drinking water dito sa pinas ang nagvavary ang pH, even expensive ones even the ones that are much more expensive than evian e hindi rin naman pH balanced pero it doesnt necessarily mean hindi na pwede gamitin pang-mist ng face. :D

Nakikita ko din itong evian mist sa watsons, ilang sprays kaya ang laman nun? Same lang kaya ang effect kung maglagay ako ng tubig sa atomizer tapos i-spray ko sa face ko? Hehe

i'd like to quote this again. sis Pink_Sugar asked "same lang ba ang effect".

i said "wag" meaning don't do it, because the effects of ordinary water (drinking water/tap water/faucet water) will not be the same compared to hydration/facial mists sold in the market. i said if you use ordinary water "hindi din maganda". Aside from filling an atomizer which will only produce a "spray" or a "spritz" not a "mist". A mist will produce finer droplets compared to a spray. even their containers, there's a reason why they put these mists in containers like that. and we cannot say it's an ordinary atomizer or sprayer lang. that's why i added the residue thing. I said "wag" (don't do it) and i backed it up with a short explanation why i said "wag".

i didn't say "wag" kasi hindi safe ang ordinary water. i didn't even say "wag" gumamit ng drinking water in a direct or outright manner. The advantage of Evian among other facial mists is that it's pH balanced. No other ingredients except water and minerals.

I'd like to point out some clarifications here. I'm not an endorser of Evian or any other brand. I'm not even pushing others to go ahead buy it or i'll shoot you in the face or look at you as a low life. I'm just saying that the effects of ordinary water is not the same if you use facial mists. Every user of facial mists can attest to that. In fact every make-up artist/enthusiast i know advises you use Evian first even before you put your moisturizer on.  If you can afford a moisturizer or any expensive make-up, there's no reason why you can't afford a cheap facial mist such as Evian. ;)

is there a scientific explanation that a mist would be more effective in hydrating than a regular spray?
im thinking theyre just the same since topical hydration parehas yan.

im not really sure if theres a significant difference between pressurized mists and regular sprays, I like Dior's face mist, and it doesnt come in a pressurized spray so are we saying here na they should come up with a better packaging? like a pressurized one? other than that, i certainly think its better than Evian in keeping my skin hydrated, especially during those times that i was suffering from combination skin :D

Evian face mist has the same contents as the evian drinking water by the way, its just that it has nitrogen inside para magkaron ng pressure in dispensing the product.

If you vouch for evian, sure its a great product but when you actually read reviews for it, a lot of people say its not a need but more of a convenient product to refresh you, there are other mists in the market that does a great job in keeping the skin hydrated but Evian has the most recommendations because its the most basic form of face mist because it contains just water, which doesnt really irritate even the most sensitive skin.

IMHO, kung malinis naman the drinking water that you wanna use as face mist, go ahead, thats the main purpose naman of face mists eh, to refresh and to hydrate. :)

Kung tap water or water straight from the faucet naman, ibang usapan na yan but then okay lang rin kung yun lang talaga gusto gamitin e hahaha! :D as long as the water's clean and the purpose naman is to refresh, then go ahead. :D

If you want the same quality of water as the Evian but don't want to splurge so much molah.
Go get your self Nestle  spring water and put it in your atomizer.

The other week it was featured in National Geo graphics. Items that made a lot of money.

Kasali both items. =P

For me as long as I use a distilled , mineral or purified water I won't have a problem.

If I wanna splurge I can buy 5 evian in one go but if I'm tamad to get it in the store,
I'll just use my good old atomizer with nestle spring water.

agree?

Smile : couldnt agree more! :D evian face mist is sobrang tubong lugaw! :D

napapaisip na nga ako if sulit mag splurge sa dior mist (got lang as freebie from the cleansing milk)
pero maganda kasi talaga, no more dry patches sa face ko pero mahal lang talaga masyado. di
makatarungan dahil face mist lang sha and may tendency to be a little malagkit pag sobrang humid ng panahon. :D

I'm new to this. lol

in terms of scientific explanation, i believe there are. why would they use it in burn clinics and derma clinics originally if there's no valid scientific proof that there is. if there is a claim, and there are user feedback, i suppose there's a handful of evidence why most people prefer hydration mists compared to plain water. there is a significant difference between mists and sprays. as i've said earlier, mists produce finer minute droplets. sprays on the other hand produce droplets, but quite bigger. and there's a tendency that if you don't use pressurized containers the spray will turn out to be just "spritz" in the long run. judging from personal experience, i have used countless hydration mists, in all sorts of packaging. but i always go back to evian because the nozzle itself doesn't get busted or clogged. ever.

and as mentioned by sis Pink_Sugar she's asking if it's okay to use an atomizer. Again basing on her question, i simply assumed that she is referring to ordinary atomizers, not pressurized ones or the special ones, if there is. and these atomizers we see in beabi and other shops, most possibly don't have any special features in them, that might prevent any residue buildup or assure that any content inside will be kept fresh and sanitized. i'm not saying that facial mists that come in pressurized bottles work better than the others, i'm just saying that for every product, there's a reason why a company would place it in a particular type of container, plastic, aluminum or whatever that may be. what's important is what's inside but i bet the containers do play an important role. be it on the marketing side or there's a scientific basis to that.

I drink Evian mineral water sometimes especially if in a new place or another country and I personally don't think the facial mist is just their bottled water inside a pressurized container. Any company wouldn't list all their ingredients, unless they want to be exactly copied in every way. I think there's still something in the facial mist that is missing in the drinking water and there is something in the mineral water that you won't find in the facial mist. otherwise, we could all just say that Evian facial mist is nothing but just bunk. And yes, to be fair with Evian, they are not claiming anything else aside from "refreshing" you. It may be a bit of luxury for some, that's why i said "treat" yourself to it, if you can. I know I can live without it, but while I still can, it will always be part of my system.  ;)

And sure product reviews are good, especially if you're planning to buy something but you want other people's opinions first taking the plunge, but for this product I got personal recommendations for it and personal experience to back it up. It works for me - at least on my skin so I could say it's good. And i believe i said earlier that unless you have a very good water source, or a very pure drinking water you can use it. Most parts of Canada has good water source, the US mainly uses hard water in most households, in Vegas the water there is even recycled, and here in the Philippines, water sanitation is much of a debate. I even use drinking water to wash my face because recently I contacted a severe skin allergy from tap water, which is really frustrating on my part because it's expensive to wash your face with it.  ;)

^ Im thinking theyre using it in burn clinics before because the contents can be considered sterile. :D ibang usapan naman yun sa pagmimist sa face. pero I dont think theres something to do with the size of the droplets. I dont think they still use that in burn clinics nowadays, I dont wanna dwell into that though since we're just talking about face mists here and not burn victims and treatment. :D

I could be wrong but only if I see scientific studies that prove that theres a significant difference in terms
of hydration kung mist or sprayer or spritzer ang gamit. IMHO, theyre just all the same, and gaya ng sabi ni greenpease its all about the packaging kaya mahal ang evian, but if you ask me if its good, i would say its so-so lang, id rather buy something that works better in hydrating my skin..

yes, definitely you're right about that. whatever works for our skin best, our own selves are still the best judge.  ;)

distilled water + atomizer = facial mist.

evian is good, susyalin sa bag but practically speaking, distilled water is enough. I used a facial mist from TBS before, the vit c one, lagkit sa face, nagoily pa ko

evian mist is very much more convenient to have though, kahit san halos makakabili ka
