Online English Teachers

Anybody from here na nagwowork as online english teachers? I'm planning to apply for this job sana since mon to friday lang ang work sched. I have class kasi pag sat and sunday. Any input about this kind of job? How much starting salary for full time and part time? I will appreciate your response..

sis, where did you apply? kasi ako, i am teaching via skype. sometimes the students are out kaya i have spare time to teach pa.

I've been working as an online English teacher for 3 years now. It's not considered a real career for teachers though. I worked 1 1/2 year as an office-based tutor and 1 1/2 as a home based online English tutor. You can earn more if you do it at home, but here's the usual rates for office-based jobs:

Full-time: 12k-18k
Work schedule - 5am-2pm or 2pm-11pm

Part-time: 6k-8k
Work schedule: 6pm-11pm

^okay lang ba kahit hindi ako education major? med tech graduate kasi ako pero I used to work for more than 2 years sa call centers.

sis i am already a member of those sites but konti lang students. ako, i give free service na nga to teach eh. lol somebody offered me $1.25 per 25 mins. sa odesk but until now wala pa ako news from that company. sighs. i really want to teach kahit di ako educ major lol

waah, gusto ko din 'to, kaya lang maingay ang environment dito, as in  me asong parang baliw, tahol ng tahol kahit sa madaling araw.....mga tricycle or motorcycle na talaga namang super sa ingay pag nagre-restart.....karaoke....name it andito na ata lahat ng ingay....

^What do you mean sis? Sabi naman sakin ng friend ko, wala daw benefits dun sa company nila. Korean daw kasi ang may ari.

I used to work for this kind of company for 5 years, as trainer and on-line teacher unfortunately medyo saturated na this kind of industry, siyempre Korea for instance cannot allow/depend on other countries for their english advancement one way or another they will do something to enhance their Education system. The last company that i worked for apparently decided to cut down all the salary of their employees as in lahat daw ibabalik sa 10k kahit na 15-18k basic mo, not sure how it went cause my friends left before it was implemented.
However there are also companies that are pretty stable like the first company that I worked for i believe that's the pioneer in Phone English they have around 200 teachers, pay would be around 12-18k siguro plus benefits which would be perfect attendance, renewal bonus, Performance incentive etc etc different companies have varying incentive scheme.

As for home based phone teaching I have some friends who ventured into that they are getting 20-25k a month which is pretty good considering the fact that you're just at home tapos tax free yun. Now the downside of it is you dont pay your taxes thus you dont have ITR you should know how important that is in various transactions loans, banking etc etc.Plus stability wise it will be easier for Home based companies to shut down. So personally homebased is good source of extra income make sure you still have regular/stable job.

anyway, i will be starting hopefully nextweek. they are at the initial stage of teaching kaya di ko pa alam kung magiging okay. ako rin ang gagawa ng lesson ko. naku may sample lessons ba kayo jan sis? if ever pa help naman

^Nope. Wala pa kong experience sa ganitong line of work. I need kasi a job na fixed na sat sun ang off dahil may class ako pag weekends. E sa PAL, shifting kami kaya nag resign na ko.

nakita ko ang Edenmairusu. lol in japanese. Mukhang okay! gusto ko itry din at masasaya yung mga students in fairness. pero sa QC kasi. ang layo sa akin.

^nope sis, sa sales ako ng PAL. san mo nakita? okay ba pay dito? pinapapunta nga ko ng fairview, dun daw yung interview. Dun din ba yung office nila?

sis the website is in japanese. mejo nakakabasa ako ng slight kaya parang ok sya sa akin. para sa mga japanese boarders yung website not really for job seekers. oo malapit fairview ang office nila. sabi 10 mins away from the mall. lol i ask mo sa kanila. may teacher nga na boarder din at the same time. tutok sila with the students. ang cool!

^ah talaga ganun pala set up nila. thanks sis ha.  medyo nag aalangan pa din kasi ako dahil ang layo. nasa isip ko kasi within Ortigas lang sana kasi may condo kami sa Mandaluyong.

^sis no problem! madami ako nakikita na available jobs within those areas. lalo na online teachers not homebased though. why not try looking for them sa mga job search engines. XD

Wednesdei if you want somewhere in Ortigas sa Tektite tower alone there's atleast 4-5 Online English companies. Meron din sa Strata2000, Hanston Building basta super dami sa Ortigas maski sa Libis. Now if you want in Mandaluyong might as well apply in one of the biggest on-line teaching company that's in Globe Telecom Tower ( I was one of the pioneer teachers in that company there were only 5 of us back then now they have 200 teachers daw)

As for homebased most of it started from Phone English companies like my friend kinaibigan niya her student and the student decided to put up his own company and si friend nagmanage and hired all home based teachers for that, to date i have atleast 4 friends na home based and pare pareho sila na nakuha nila yung deal na yun from their student sa phone english company.My point is not only that Phone English company is more stable than homebased it can only open doors of opportunities for you
