Online English Teachers

dati i used to handle group classes online. what happens is may 5 students in a room and you do a video conference call. it is mighty hard since you can address the needs of each student through the call that would last for 30 minutes. its quite a challenge pero once you get used to it its more like teaching a real class.

yung man to man it depends upon the level of the student. may mga beginners and may advanced na. yung beginners struggle talaga kasi yung vocab nila limited and listening skill is of low level. oftentimes you have to type it talaga for them to understand. sometimes i translate it to their native language kaso they do prefer na english all through out para masanay sila. last resort kung baga ang translation.

may mga companies that offer their own materials for grammar review. but if you are working homebased sariling diskarte mo talaga ito. just be prepared with grammar lessons or articles na pwedeng idiscuss niyo ng student.

does it really need to have a quiet environment?  I am interested din but I have a 1 year and 9 mos. old daughter a super talkative. 

but I do not have a backgrouind in education.  I worked in a call center before for 4 years.

yeah it is one of their requirement, depends sa student pero generally speaking kung ikaw yung client siyempre you want an environment conducive for learning. Okay naman yung alang background sa education just as long as you are an effective teacher. Plus yung nakapagtrabaho ka na sa call center. They adore the accent if you have one

para sa mga homebased, sis ano speed ng connection nyo and sino isp nyo? wala pa kasi ako net sa house and namimili pa ko kung ano ba dapat. yung iba kasi nabasa ko, hinihingi ng employer na 1mbps. eh wala pa din ako phoneline sa house kaya i have ot get that pa. so 1700 roughly yun monthly sa pldt.

also, di ba naka headset naman. hindi naman na mapipickup siguro ng mic nun yung bckground noise unless super lakas.

^ hi sis, pldt gamit ko now sa racket na yan. got the promo na 999 per month. 256kbs siya sis, pero nakahiwifi ako palagi so mga 54mbs
na lang nakukuha ko pero so far so good. i really do suggest that you avail a reliable and good server e.g. pldt dsl or smart bro. kasi once na nagfluctuate ang connection mo its murphys law na.

headset is more advisable sis, yung good kind ha para di marinig mga background noise. kasi if you use yung bluetooth or yung mic lang ng laptop, hindi siya reliable.

ako smart bro. tapos di ako naka headset. yung camera ko kasi may mic yun kaya naririnig naman ako. pati ang aso namin naririnig din haha. ok lang dapat talaga diskarte lang yan.

hehe sis ayus ah. so okay lang naman na hindi yung 2mbps pa ang connection ko. talaga sis smart bro ka? e yan yung dati ko eh, hindi ba mabagal for VOIP?

^sis wala naman ako problem sa skype ko. tuloy tuloy kami naguusap. minsan yung connection nila ang prob. di yung akin. tsaka di ako full time pala. out of the blue lang pag may request hehe. oki lang yung aso wag lang OA na tahol hehe. minsan dinadaan ko nalang sa joke. sinasabi ko, did you hear our dog? hehe. dun na tatakbo usapan.

How do you get paid if home based and what module are you going to use? Bibigyan ka nung company or what? Man to man lang kase hawak ko for now. part time. Ang baba ng sweldo

yung samen binabayaran ng company for a month's pay every 3rd of the next month. yung module bigay ng company

I used to do online english as well.  Been to 3 companies in 3 years.  yung unang company, okay ang pay and nagkaron pa ko ng position pero management ang problema.  yung 2nd naman, sweldo ang problem. Maliit na late pa.  Yung 3rd naman, mga senior employees ang problema.  Sobrang magtrip sa mga bago.  Nag man to man din ako pero goodluck naman ang boss ko, MANIAC!


I'm still in touch with some of my former students and swertihan na lang sa korean boss.  May mabait at galante at may masamang ugali na kuripot pa!

Hi sisses, I'm also an Online English Instructor at a company in Globe Telecom Plaza. I must say it isn't stable yet. They offer only video classes and most of the students are children, thus we, as teachers, need a bit more patience in teaching them. It sickens me everyday at work. Also, the pioneer teachers here are not trained well. The newbies really need to adjust to this kind of environment and to a fickle-minded boss.

I kinda miss my previous ESL teaching job at PSE Center (otherwise known as Tektite Building).

In this building, there are so many ESL companies. One of which is Ringlish Corp. (my previous workplace) at East tower 25th flr.

Winglish - Tycoon building adjacent to tektitle building (low basic but they are very generous in giving incentives)
Gawon - West Tower Tektite (I'm supposed to work for this company but the slot was given to me in a later time than I expected)
Mentorpia - Taipan Place, along former Emerald Ave. (The pay is competitive and the korean bosses are all working in Korea)

You don't need a degree in Education. Just show them you've got passion for teaching although you don't. Impress the interviewers but don't overdo it.
Also, get rid of the nerves. It's not like they're gonna eat you alive or something.

^I used to work as an Online English Instructress at Globe Tower that was actually my first job, im not sure if we are talking about the same company, cause back we are the online phone english company in that building or if im not mistaken the first phone  english company in the Philippines  that was 2002 when it started.
I'll ask my ex Korean boss ( a very good friend of mine) if he have any opening in his Phone English companies one is in Tektite and another in Medical Plaza both in Ortigas. I have some friends in Libis area they told me the pay is good had to check on them again. And will post here as soon i get some info.
Mentorpia i think is good, pretty stable i'd say, matagal na din yang company na yan.
