The Generic Pharmacy

What I worry about with generics is -- how much integrity and care was expended on sourcing the generics?  Natatakot ako at baka kung saan saan lang sourced, like that latest medical disaster -- from China to Barcelona to Panama.

With branded meds from Mercury -- I have hardly any doubts.
They have systems and safeguards in place for their sourcing.  (No, I am not a stockholder nor employee/supplier of Mercury Drug.  How I wish! )

correct. it's important to know kung sino ang nagma-manufacture ng generic medicines. there are a lot of backyard pharma companies and there is no assurance that the medicines they produce are up to standards or contain the right amount of ingredients.

remember the glutathione expose of korina? even the more popular gluta products like lucida didn't contain the advertised amount of gluta. kahit 500mg yung tablet, hindi naman 500mg of gluta ang laman.

this goes to show that if this can happen to popular medicines, what more sa generic medicines na hindi mo kilala kung sino ang gumawa? baka ang iniinom ninyong anti-hypertension drugs are placebo pala. not all generic medicines are equal. stick to the known generic medicines like ritemed.

i had a chance na makabili meds sa kanila yesterday papano lakas ng ulan di ako nakatawid towards mercury.. guess what.. kakagulat-- ang cough syrup ng mercury would normally cost around 70php++ sa generics--27php..whhooaaa..sana nga lang effective

Sis regarding sa Generics Pharma, since sila lang ang nagbebenta ng gamot carrying different manufacturers, talagang medyo doubtful. Pero yung mga manufacturer ata, merong standard na sinusunod ang mga medical & chemical laboratories, of course kung hindi sila magfollow dun,baka ipasara sila ng gobyerno.
Ang tanong, wala bang hocus pocus sa pag approved ng lisensya ng mga labs na ito, like sa Lucida nakalusot sila.

we are using yung mga gamot sa generic pharmacy... mas effective pa siya sa branded na gamot... kaya mas mura yung mga meds nila kasi walang ads na binabayadan not unlike mga branded ones...

ang mura kasi ng gamot nila sa allergy yung citirizine... which cost 40 plus,  sa the generic pharmacy 8 pesos lang...  laki ng natitipid ko for my allergy meds 

napansin ko din na some of their meds same lang din ng gumagawa nung mga sold sa mercury.... LLoyd laboratories... for different distributors lang.

BFAD regularly checks pharma/manufacturing companies if they  are following good manufacturing practices. if they do not meet the standards, they will not be certified. now, since many of the drug companies that supply medicines to generics pharmacy are not known, consumers have no way of knowing if they are trustworthy.

In which case, it's really just the person's choice if she wants to take that chance. 

I buy some products in mercury, and some in the generics pharmacy, and I'm perfectly fine

Anti-cholesterol meds like simvastatin and atorvastatin meron po. I buy my simvastatin from them. So far ok naman.

my mom buys her maintenance meds at the generic pharmacy ok naman daw. also, nung nagka uti ako, i was precribed augmentin pero sobrang mahal to think 3x a day for 5 days. i bought the generic of augmentin and i must say same effect din. isa pa lang naiinom ko, naglessen yung sakit ng puson ko. malaking tipid talaga yun nga lang be careful na lang din sa bibilhan

pero yung atc grapeseed na hinahanap ko rin wala pa rin akong nakikita dito sa generics sa amin. sabi kasi ng ibang sis natin sa GSE na thread meron daw eh.

glad to see good reviews of generics

may taxi driver kasi me nasakyan sabi nya sa biogesic alis daw sakit ng ulo nya from a day's stressful work eh yung generic version daw from generics pharmacy walang effect.

i've tried simvastatin from them okay naman, may mas mura pa nga sa bambang eh puro generics tinda by the 100 pieces.  yung vit c 500mg tablet eh 65 lang.  simvastatin nila i think same brand sa generics pharmacy eh 265 lang for 100 tablets.  i bought multivitamin syrup for my kids yung parang pampatangkad version eh 44 lang compare it to something with famous brand na tig 170 plus.  ang brand na nabili ko j tollman something, i know it's pretty popular, i like lumar brand din ng generics kasi one time nainfect sugat ko sa cesarean ang reseta sa akin antibiotic na tig 75, may lumar generic na equivalent tig 10 pesos lang effective naman :-)  may metformin din sa bambang 65 pesos lang for 100 tablets.

I'm for generics! a 500mg biogesic is the same as 500 mg Paracetamol (generic) as long as nakapasa si generic paracetamol sa BFAD same lang ang content and effectivity nya. sometimes psychological nalang siguro yung mas effective ang branded sa generic...sa totoo, kaya naman mataas presyo ng branded is because of the brand...branded meds pa nga ang madalas na fefake kase wala namang nagfefake ng generics...

I believe Generic Pharmacy, as well as other pharmacies that sell purely generic products such as Generik Botika, sprang from the Botika ng Barangay project of DOH. Unfortunately (according to reviews), madalas daw walang stocks si Botika ng Barangay ng government (pero in fairness ang ganda talaga ng ginawa nila ha...they promoted generics).

Anyhoo, dahil na rin ayoko gumastos ng malaki sa gamot (hehe), and necessity naman siya, I just decided to franchise a Generik Botika outlet...more than 50% lower yung amount ng pagfranchise sa kanya kaysa sa Generic Pharmacy...almost the same lang naman sila. Generik Botika has outlets in Muntinlupa, Tacloban, Calamba (soon daw)...hehe ako daw una sa Pasig. ang nakakatuwa sa kanya may option ka magrent ng space or meron din naman silang kiosk na you can set up anywhere...basta andaming options to set up the business depending on your budget. meron daw silang kiosk sa palengke na dinudumog daw ng people especially those who cannot afford branded meds.

In a way, nakakatulong ang mga tulad ng Generic Pharmacy sa masa...ang mahal naman kasi talaga ng mga gamot. Dapat nga lang they, and yung iba pang pharmacies na nagsesell ng generic meds, should make sure na quality talaga yung meds na binebenta and nakapasa sa BFAD para hindi naman masira ang generics sa masa and magtuloy tuloy pa yung suporta..

effective naman sa akin yung amoxicillin sa Botika ng Bayan (Infeban yung brand), 3/capsule

yung mom ko nga pala iniinom yung Felodipine (generic version ng Plendil), 19 pesos lang..ok naman daw...49 pesos each yung plendil..

nanghingi ako ng brochure sa generics pharmacy para alam ko kung ano bibilhin ko next time..minsan kasi sa dami nalulula ako hahaha

some of the meds being sold in generic pharma are repacked. they came from India kaya mura nabebenta din. my ninang kasi has a pharma company which exists nun 70's pa.
