yep, depends on the company. and bihira lang ang healthcard that covers maternity. usually mga tests and checkup lang ang covered and not the delivery itself.

depends sa package na kinuha ng company mo. our company doesn't cover the whole maternity expense but hmo just gives 13k for normal and 15k for cs.

i called the maxicare rep earlier because our baby has her card courtesy of my husband's company. according to the representative i spoke to, the vaccines are not covered. the fees they can cover depends on the doctor's findings and if the illness is covered by the plan. same with reimbursements. i wasn't able to get much info so i asked my husband to inquire with their HR department. i called the pedia's secretary and she told me that we can use maxicare for consultations and laboratory procedures. we'll just get a form from the maxicare coordinator and present it to the pedia/secretary when we go for my doctor's checkup next week. she's going there for her IPV vaccine.

usually, you pay premiums every year.

so with intellicare, maxicare and medicard, you don't have to pull out money when you are a family member that's enrolled, is confined? tama po ba?

^it depends on your policy sis. like when my daughter was hospitalized last week, maxicare only covered up to Php 1.8k/day room. unfortunately, since there were no available rooms in that price range, we had to upgrade. We got the Php2.2k suite. the difference we had to shoulder it. including those additional expenses sa mga tests, procedures, etc. usually kasi the rates for the procedures are socialized, the more expensive your room is, the more expensive the tests and procedures are.

your doctor's PF, if he is not accredited with the healthcard, you'll also end up paying for it. i think with some cards, they'll allow the reimbursement of the PF, im not sure if the whole amount or a percentage of it

same goes for those medicines that are not available in your hospital's pharmacy. any meds that you are required to buy from outside, you'll have to shoulder it.

also, the healthcards only cover your total bill net of philhealth. if you dont file your philhealth or you dont have one, you will have to shoulder it (philhealth's portion).

for maxicare, if the illness is congenital, they wont cover it as well. so it is important when you're scouting for a healthcard, you know what are the coverages.

for my daughter's 3 day hospitalization, we ended up shelling out Php 400  ;). her total bill though was Php 12k+.

it is really helpful to have a healthcard. i had an officemate before who didnt want to shell out Php 6k (it was dicsounted since a part of it was paid by our company) kasi namamahalan siya. sayang daw if hindi magamit. ayun, na-hospitalized daughter niya and she ended up paying Php 30k for a 3 day hospitalization.

^pag confined, usually covered lahat but dapat may Philhealth pa din, otherwise, there's a portion of the room and PF that you have to pay. Be wary din with medicard kase they're magulo na kausap. My co-worker got confined somewhere sa Bulacan and he is the principal member. Aba, Medicard didnt shoulder 7k of the total bill kase may hinde daw sila covered so he ended up shelling out eh pano pala kung wala syang pera non. This was brought na to our HR's attention and they filed a complaint na against Medicard so hopefully naman mabalik sa kanya yung 7k.

I enrolled my daughter din as my dependent sa Medicard but once pa lang namin nagamit nung nagpunta kame sa ER. When we bring Zoe for her vaccines kase, syempre hinde naman covered so kesa naman pumila pa kame sa HMO, eh direcho na lang kame sa pedia mismo.

tama..very helpful ang healthcard lalo kapag office mo ang nagbabayad ng premiums.. instead of me paying for the premiums.. i get to save the money allotted for that.

my husband was hospitalized early last year.. he was rushed to asian hospital..kaso hinde pala accredited ang health card namin don.. he stayed wala pang overnight but had tests done..so our bill amounted to 30k which we paid in cash when we checked out..di rin nagamit ang philhealth kasi wala pang 1 day ang confinement.... we opted to transfer him to NKI (this was for his gall bladder polyps).. sa NKI..nagabayd lang ako ng P300. 2 days kami don.. with tests done and a much bigger room though mas maganda yung sa asian hospital.

my husband has a maxicare card and part of his company benefit is to have 3 dependents enrolled. our baby, his dad and i have availed of that. when my husband got hospitalised a few months ago, the bill amounted to 40k. maxicare paid a huge chunk while philhealth shouldered the rest. we can also avail of free medicines by presenting a med cert and prescription to the personnel handling the maxicare account.

my co-worker decided to get her son a health card because he has been confined a few times this year. they paid thousands in medicines and tests. it pays to have a healthcard because you don't need to worry about where to get the money for hospital bills in cases of emergency.
