hi sis abby2007. sa toronto pala kayo. dapat diyan din kami pupunta kasi marami kaming friends & distant relatives na pwedeng tumulong sa amin diyan. sa application nga namin, toronto talaga ang destination namin. pero nagbago isip namin, we went here instead. natatakot lang kami sa winter, sabi nila grabe raw winter dito sa calgary eh.

hello mga sisses. i just landed here in mississauga three months ago.. medyo bum pa lang ako ngayon, most of the time kasi, hinahanap nila yung may work experience na dito sa canada eh. new graduate pa kasi ako from the philippines, so no work experience pa whatsoever. it can get kind of disappointing and depressing, so i'm planning to study again to gain competitive edge.

Hello to everyone. Just got here at Grande Prairie Alberta. Don't really know anyone here or matter of fact in the whole of Canada. Been here for 5 days now. Everything still shocks me. Its so quiet here and most of the shops are closed by 5pm. Its really a big change coming from Manila, although I am originally a Bicolana. Are anyone out there from Grande Prairie as well? And what else can you do here? Ive seen the public library while walking towards work and it bothers me that its so small. Back in Manila...the library of UST is really big! I guess...everything here is big as well but more of wide?

Plus I would like to know if anyone out there knows a shipping service back in Manila that delivers right here in Grande Prairie? I left some of my stuff in the Manila and I am thinking of actually asking my sister to buy me some good trendy shoes back home and some fab bags...basically all the kakikayan that they dont have here? Well...its really different here.

So beautiful people...please let me know!

suburban ang grand prairie sis, so dont expect much. forget about being fashionable, hindi yan applicable sa lugar. fashionable shoes usually are not for winter. at least for the type of winter we have here in alberta. ganyan din ako when i first got here. i was expecting na people will be trendy kasi im in canada. pero it turned out na im wrong. what people care here about is being warm in winter and expose so much skin in summer (for good tanning). you can be fashionable if you live in a big city na hindi nagssnow masyado, like toronto or vancouver. im not saying na magpakabaduy ka ha. just dress for the weather, not for the boys.

^malakas din mag snow sa toronto actually, pero not as much nga as what you guys experience there. The difference lang siguro when it comes to fashion is that toronto is a big city and a business district, there are a lot of fashionable men and women especially in the downtown core.

I've been to Grande Prairie. Majority of the people there probably work in the farm or in the oil field so they don't really care about what is fashionable comparing to bigger cities like Toronto where a lot of people have white collar jobs. Also amenities are built depending on the number of people in the area. There are way less people in Grande Prairie comparing to Manila so don't expect to see huge public buildings.  At ang mga Canadians iba ang attitude regarding urbanization. While we Pinoy don't mind having SM in front of our yard, Canadians will oppose having a strip mall a mile from their house.

Well, I live in Burnaby and medyo tahimik din dito. I've been to Vancouver and Calgary as well, I think generally tahimik talaga sa Canada. LOL. Sobrang creepy talaga at times, and the neighborhoods are usually empty din. Hahanapin mo talaga yung mga tao.

I want to move to the cities though, like Vancouver, kasi nakakamiss talaga yung Manila vibe.

Anybody else from British Columbia? Wala ba tayong EB? LOL.

Oh and I just got a job from Starbucks as a barista, a far cry from my Architecture degree but I just want to immerse myself with the culture now. Wala pa ko 1 month dito eh. I'll figure out my corporate career plans afterwards, maybe I'll take up my Masters this winter semester if ever.

Been to the malls this weekend. And I must say its not that bad. Well...para syang probinsya pero the good thing is that mababait talaga mga tao dito. Everyone says hello and they're really nice. Medyo di ko pa kapa yung mga slangs nila dito plus the culture pero I think expected naman yun kasi been here for less than a week palang. Tapos medyo mahirap with work and all kasi I'm working as an Audiologist and I have to speak a lot with the clients and sometimes medyo di ko pa nakukuha salita nila kasi iba sila mag deliver ng speech? Anyway...I'm hanging on!

With the airport allowing you to check in only 2 23 kilos luggages medyo kaunti lang talaga nadala ko dito. Anyone there who knows stores that are nice and have petite size available? Nakakatuwa dito kasi back home sa Manila usually kapag buy ako pants I'm a size medium...pero yesterday went to the mall to buy some jogging pants? Naloka ako at XS ang size na nagkasya sa akin! Hahaha Thats really a good thing for me!

So ang problem ko is more of where to buy clothes that can and will fit me? Im a small lady as well...height  wise kaya ang isa pang problem ay length nung mga trousers nila dito. I stand at around 5'1 something nearing 5'2.

Tama kayo...Canada's really quiet and nice! Good thing is that I think its fairly safe here to go around. Im actually planning to go jogging on the weekends or maybe after work while I still can kasi I know pagdating ng Winter....Its gonna snow like there's no tomorrow.

Hi rainyxe!  dito rin ako sa mississauga.  i know how you feel, bum din ako for quite a while.  pero ienjoy mo yan kasi once na nagwowork ka na, gusto mo na ulit bumalik sa pagkabum!    try mo magvolunteer kasi counted din un as Canadian experience.  merong mga institution na tumatanggap ng volunteers.  schools din pwede pero kuha ka ng police clearance.

^ Hi sis chestnuts. bum na kasi ako for six months (starting pa nung kakagraduate ko sa Pilipinas.) LOL. Nakakasawa rin yung mag-isa ka lang sa bahay, asa work kasi parents ko and school yung mga kapatid ko.

hi sis abie... malayo pala tayo...dito kami toronto... mahirap kapag may anak at wala kang kamag anak di ba? pero kapag tumagal makakapag adjust din... pareho kasi tayo. we celebrated special occasions ng kami lang ni hubby at ng baby. sa ngayon dito na rin   panganay namin kinuha namin last May lang kaya lalo walang chance makapag work. SAHM pero happy....

hi sis! I can completely relate. LAgi ako homesick especially why hubby goes to work. where in toronto are you? like you, I'm a SAHM. MAhal ng daycare eh. My baby's just 1. tried leaving her but she screamed and screamed.

hello sis... dito kami victoria park and ellesmere. my eldest is 2 years and 9 months and my baby is 10 months old. i bring them sa ontario early years sa may consumers road, actually yung isang sis natin dito nagsuggest sa akin dun, hopefully ma meet ko sya soon...its good for our kids to play around and make friends with other kids even my baby love it there.
kapag SAHM mas mahirap pero fulfilling din as we see our kids grow...sacrifice lang on our part.
