the following scares me about growing old:
1. Alzheimer's disease
2. being alone
that's why as early as now, i try and plan to do something about these fears of mine. I read somewhere that to prevent Alzheimer's one has to keep the brain active para hindi mag-degenerate. so that means reading, and doing puzzles, just to keep the brain going.
about being alone naman, well, we wont know what will happen, so as much as possible, i keep a great relationship with my family. i dont think i would be alone with my family around.
I believe that with God by our side, guiding us, we should not be afraid. The fears that we have are man-made. I remember that movie, i forgot the title, si Albert Brooks and si Meryl Streep, they're both dead na and they met in Judgement city. They were 'on trial' for the lives that they led. and the only criteria of the lawyers and judges was to let go of the fear. Fear of failing, fear of commitment, fear of letting go, fear of the unknown.
There's a phrase that ive been reading in signatures/profiles of people, in forwarded emails and websites:
Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like nobody's watching.
I think that when we live our life to the fullest, with happiness all the way, with God by our side, we will only be too glad to be growing old.

of course, life wont stop when we are old. even when the flesh is weak, this should not stop us from being happy. spending time with our loved ones - apos, anaks, etc. we should treasure every moment spent with them.
so growing old is not so scary after all.
