Yung merong ice cream maker/churner o wala? Either way, I always use Jeni Britton Bauer's ice cream base recipe. Basta consist sya ng milk, cornstarch, heavy cream, sugar, corn syrup, salt and a few tablespoons of cream cheese for texture (it won't affect flavor like making it tangy, pramis). From the base, you can experiment on different flavors. Personal favorite: coconut and pineapple (candied).
I have used the egg Yolk custard recipe in the past but parang di ako consistent. Mas gusto ko yung egg yolk sa fruit salad and other frozen desserts but not ice cream. Just me.
Tips:
Fats, starch, sugars esp. Glucose and corn syrup are your friends. Sometimes alcohol but not if  serving it  to kids, pregnant, halal. Water is your enemy. If you are using fruits, choose the fatty ones like avocado, coconut or starchy ones like bananas, ube, gabi. I have seen Kara David's feature on 'dirty' ice cream and the guy uses Beef broth from bones instead of butter. Sounds icky but makes sense since beef bones contain tallow and gelatin. If you notice hindi nag yeyelo yung bulalo soup sa freezer.
If using watery fruits like berries, reduce muna water content sa stovetop like turn it to jelly/jam consistency before mixing sa ice cream para mabawasan crystallization.

If wala ice cream maker, put your base in a ziplock bag and freeze it sa ref laying flat or lagay mo sa flat tray with cover at manipis lang ang volume like ice cube trays.  Mas manipis mas mabilis titigas, mas maiiwasan ice formation. Then pag frozen na crush the ice cream in a food processor or blender ( to break the ice crystals) then transfer it in your preferred container then freeze again. The texture won't be as creamy like real ice cream but parang gelato/sorbet.

^ btw, I have seen recipes using only 3 ingredients: condensed milk, heavy cream and flavoring of choice like vanilla or fresh mangoes. That is fine too but I find it too cloying. That recipe is a great time and money saver.

May nakita din akong home made using 2 ingredients lang. Banana tapos any flavorings you like. Yung banana, mga 2, tapos chop niyo lang, tapos ifreezer nyo. Pag matigas na sha ilagay nyo sa food processor or blender then pwede na kayo mag add ng other flavors or toppings like chocolate chips or peanut butter. Then ok na instant ice cream na sha.
