School food safety inspection

I'm not sure if I should post this in the health forum.

I'm asking for a friend. Her son was hospitalized for typhoid fever and was suspecting that it was acquired from food in the school cafeteria. She asked the school if there were other cases with other kids pero wala daw. However, the doctor that treated her son said he handled another case with a student from the same school.

She suspects that the source was the cafeteria food and/or water and was wondering where to go to request inspections for this kind of thing. It's a private school, if that helps.

^She should coordinate with the school principal/admin. They should look into that. I know of one school where some students were rushed to the hospital due to food poisoning. The directress asked the concessionaire to conduct a 2-day cleanup/sanitation of the canteen and advised them to check the kind of dishes they serve to the kids (ingredients shouldn't easily spoil plus must be handled properly by the cooks). They have an agreement that if it occurs again, they'd end the concessionaire's contract.

Regarding typhoid fever, my daughter had that after we went swimming in a resort here in Cavite. She swallowed a bit of water but we didn't worry about it until she had fever. When we got to the ER and they did some tests, she was diagnosed with it. Now we're more careful when we go swimming and even with the water she drinks at home and in school. She brings baon everyday. We only allow her to buy packed snacks and bottled drinks at the school canteen to be sure.
