GFCF Diet and Biomedical Treatments for Autism

Hi everyone! I see na wala pang nag start ng topic about treatments for Autism.

My son's pedia said that he is within the autism spectrum although she is still not 100% positive about it. She is giving us the benefit of the doubt since sobrang na baby at spoiled ng son ko. My son also is addicted to TV. As in, when the tv is turned on, goodluck if makuha mo attention nya.

I read a lot about GFCF diet and biomedical treatments for autism thru autismpinoy.com and generation rescue of Jenny McCarthy. So, I am very curious about it. Ang dami kasing positive results (according to parents) when they started getting their kids on this treatment (of course with the help of therapy).

My son is 18months old and I am afraid na baka if I take casein out of his diet, pumayat sya ng husto. Medyo dependent pa rin talaga sya sa milk nya eh. About gluten, well, pwede na siguro ng paunti-unti kasi di naman tayo ma barley na country. You know what I mean. If I look at it, Filipino diet is mostly Gluten Free/Casein Free. Good news diba?! I know this will be expensive kasi isa lang naiisip ko, my son...correct me if I am wrong...will have a vegan diet. No dairy or food products. Paano naman milk nya? Rice Milk or Almond milk? Is that enough?

Supplements. Now, ito I can take talaga. I want to start him on this. I just don't know how. I know I have to see a DAN doctor for this. Pero parang wala naman yata dito sa Pilipinas.

I am starting to eliminate food with preservatives sa food nya. I want to start him on organics sa mga snacks nya. Ugh! My son loves hotdogs, haay! I think I have to say goodbye to that as well.

Any feedback on this treatment? I'd appreciate any input. Salamat ng madame!

I was actually looking for feedbacks about him kasi gusto ko na din talaga pacheck yung anak ko sa DAN!practitioner, I'll try to contact him on monday. BTW, how's your child?

I have a son who was diagnosed with Autism when he was 2. Mild lang yung sa kanya dahil nakakausap na at frank sya kapag nakipag-usap sa iyo. He'll tell you kung mataba ka, malaki pisngi mo, etc.

I've learned about biomedical approach when he was 4 pero hindi pa kami nagtry dahil wala kaming alam na merong DAN practitioner dito sa atin. Kaya nagplan kami dati na sa Singapore na lang kami magpaconsult dahil PR naman kami doon. Nagpa-psychometric test na sya dahil yun ang isang requirement aside from the endorsement letter of his DevPed. Mas cheaper kasi yung mga tests doon unlike dito na sa US pa ginagawa yung mga tests. But hindi nagmaterialize dahil nagumpisa na syang mag-aral dito at we are planning to revoke our PR status kaya dito na lang kami magpapa-consult. May alam na ba kayong naka-recover from autism through biomedical approach na nandito sa atin? Wala pa kasi akong nababasa na blog about it.

There's a DAN practitioner here in the Phils. My son's doctor is Dr. Girlmar Leones, her clinic is in Santolan lang....Nagpa-consult kami dun kasi kakaresearch ni hubby ng mga early intervention sa son namin, btw my son is not yet diagnosed with Autism according to our DevPed, most likely hyperactive but we tried the GFCF just to know lang if it works for my son...mejo may kamahalan ang diet kasi need to buy vitamins and food na G/C free, pero hininto na din naming kasi nasasayang lang yung mga food/snacks na binibili namin sa healthy options pati vitamins na binili namin kay Doc ayaw din inumin ni baby kasi mostly capsule or gel type (parang myra e), hindi pa kaya lunukin ni baby...ngayon wala na kami GFCF diet pero we continuously consult our DevPed and therapy pa din, so far oks naman son namin, nasa regular school din sya with 30 students per class, oks naman sya nakakasunod sa lesson except minsan nagtantrums but very seldom lang mangyari, but informed ang school namay case sya and sa 3years ko sa school na yun never pa naman sya na-tag as a special child, so we're very happy naman...
