Civil wedding while preggy then church wedding after
« on: September 15, 2013, 07:39:57 pm »
Hi mga sis..just found im pregnant & we're thinking about having a civil wedding first then a big church wedding after baby is born..parang masyadong stressful kasi to plan a big wedding while pregnant, baka masama pa sa baby. do you think its a good idea? Or would it detract from our church wedding? Any thoughts on pros & cons?

You are wondering if planning for a BIG wedding while pregnant will adversely affect your baby?

The thoughts that crossed my mind:
You are not stressed out about being pregnant while not yet married.  Fine
You are going to have a BIG wedding, so finances are not a problem - so, no need to postpone the church wedding until you can both assess the financial  impact of a baby in your life. Fine
You & your BF are apparently on the same page. Fine

Do I think having the civil wedding soon, and the big church wedding after the birth of your baby is a good idea?
What does it matter what  we think? Really.
IMO, you are that uncommon unmarried pregnant woman  with  no emotional problems. Great.
So --  WHAT MATTERS is what you want.  What is gonna make  you happier?

IF you do the Big Wedding now, I don't think you will get stressed out. Surely, you will have a competent Event Coordinator who will manage your planning and implementation for you.  Like Rita Neri.
Let's see --  Ruffa Gutierrez & the wife of that Muhlach actor were beautiful pregnant brides -- who had beautiful big  weddings,  and delivered healthy beautiful babies.  Sharon Cuneta too, her 1st marriage to Gabby Concepcion.

However, for some reasons known only to them, there are engaged couples who schedule their Church Wedding after the birth --  most recent interviewed were  China Cojuangco and her spouse-to-be ? Gonzales.
Well, needless to add:  you will be in more beautiful form after delivery.  You can diet after kasi.
And you can go off on an extended honeymoon with no health issues.

So, it's all up to you --  what would make you happier.
That's the only issue since either scenario - -- other people will be the ones stressing out & planning per your preferences.

A more serious PRO to a church wedding after your  delivery:
You can assess more what kind of partner & father your BF turns out to be.  Then, you can decide better if you can commit to him till death do you 2 part.

Congratulations! A baby brings joy.

Thanks sa feedback sis...actually when i said big, i meant it only in comparison to a civil wedding with just us & immediate family. Big for me is 150 guests max. We have some money saved but we're not rich, so hiring all those expensive people to plan the wedding is not the plan. Also mejo OC ako & would want to be really involved sa planning, thats why im thinking baka stressful sya at maging bad for baby. We really want a church wedding with family & friends pero parents want us to get married na agad so mukhang civil muna with immediate family. I dont personally know someone who's done both kasi which is why im looking for feedback, kung kumusta naman experiences nila with it, either positive or negative.

Plus the fact na gusto namin ikasal agad the reason kasi is naka petition siya so para matapos na namin yun agad.

Ikaw pa rin naman ang magdecision kung ano ang concern mo eh! Kung gusto mo talaga yung fact na may big day talaga or big event then I suggest nga to have civil muna then church after. Pero kung for the sake of marrying him then I suggest the church na. Kasi example sa Malate church nung nag inquire ako pumayag pa nga sila sa white polo and white pants kahit sa bride then yung ninong ninang kahit 1 pair. Secondary kahit 1 pair rin like yung candle, veil and cords 1 pair rin gagawa if you want meaning 2 persons lang.

In our case, my fiance and I considered a civil wedding but ultimately chose waiting for the "right time" to get married (when we feel we are truly ready, not just because of the pregnancy). Hehe 2 years later eto na kami, planning na for the wedding :)

I was almost in the same situation. I got pregnant 2 months later our civil wedding. This is while we were planning our church wedding na. We have booked na most of our suppliers na at that point so I requested to change our original wedding date to 6 months later. Buti na lang talaga pumayag our suppliers without any other charges or forfeiting our downpayment. I was not stressed naman while pregnant and planning the wedding at the same time. Actually mas nastress pa ko on how to lose the baby weight since I only had 6 months after I gave birth.
