Hi ladies,

Guada from Female Network here!

Do you agree that we change our relationship standards as we grow older? How much has changed for you? How different are your relationship standards now that you're in your 30s than when you were in your 20s?

Would love to hear your stories and will compile them in an article! Happy sharing!

Hello.

When it comes to relationship standards I don't think there is a huge difference from what I used to have before in my early 20s. I have always set my standards high and was blessed that I was able to find a relationship (after a gamut of disappointments and heartbreaks) that fits the way I wanted it to be.

The only thing that changed was the way I HANDLE my relationship. As I grew older, I come to realize that it really takes 2 people to make it work. No more tantrums for me, no more prioritizing pride and ego over the relationship. I learned how to say sorry and accept apologies; to be responsible in my own happiness while making sure that my husband is well taken care off and happy. In a way, maturity has finally caught up with my age. Hahaha.

Personally, I changed my relationship standard as I grew older kasi medyo "lost" ako during my teens and 20's. I'm 32 now, and mas nagkaroon ako ng "light" sa life. Before kasi, I thought listening to my parents is the must way in life, so ang standard ko is yun sinasabi nila sa akin. E ngayon, I realized listening to my parents isn't the way in life, so pati yun teachings na binigay nila sa akin, umiba na rin. Mas naging clear sa akin on what I believe is needed in a relationship. When I was 20s, yun nga, ang standard ko is yun sinasabi sa akin ng parents ko. Guy must have his own business, own car, financially stable until future, healthy, yun typical positive stuff that can be found in a "perfect person". When I turned 30, masumiba na pananaw ko sa buhay. I learned na even the richest and healthiest person in life can become poor in an instant or can have a life threatening disease. Kung 20s hinahanap ko financially stable, ngayon 32 na ako I know na ang kailangan is someone who is financially literate and meron integrity.

At the end of the day, I believe one changes his relationship standard as he grows older IF he changes the way he lives his life din.

I pretty much have the same relationship standard as when i was still 20. My mom always told me na dapat mas mahal ng lalaki ang babae and not the other way around...and focused more on the importance on how i want to be treated in a relationship, as much as what or how he is as a person (and not what he has).

I married my college sweetheart and by 30, we're a growing family na. But relationship standard ng mag-bf/gf and relationship standard as husband/wife is same lang naman. We just matured. Hindi na nga lang, like the word they use, "pabebe" 😄 ..pwede din pala paminsan minsan. Lol

When i was in my 20's i'm dating just for fun lang serious relationship naman but not thinking about marriage or anything like that. More on companionship since most of my friends are in a relationship. i just want someone i can talk to and hang out with.

In my 30's i'm more marriage minded so the men i date iniisip ko na kung may potential. The standards are higher. I'm looking for qualities that would mean he will be a good husband and father. So if a guy doesn't make the cut i let go of him right away so we don't waste each others time.
