The feeling of UNEMPLOYED
« on: March 15, 2013, 10:03:32 am »
right now, im working but i just tendered my resignation last tuesday. the reason why i resigned because i am not happy with my work anymore and i dont want na dumating yung time na sobrang inefficient na ako sa work at mapapansin nila na paresign na ako. so, while im okay pa sa work, and maayos pa, i gave my resignation letter to my boss. of course, gulat na gulat sila kasi i look okay naman daw sa work. parang they never saw it coming na magreresign ako. its because, 3 years na din ako sa company. the reason why i resigned is because of the people in my department. managerial level na ako and the people under me is not productive at all. well, bottomline is, AYOKO NA. my resignation will take effect on april 15. im just so sad na when i told my mom about my resignation, she was very supportive in it but when i passed my resignation letter, she made me feel like i made the wrong decision. :( before resigning, i was thinking that i still have a life ahead of me. i have school (although i dont know if im going to enroll next sem because my tuition fee have eaten up my saving and its worth almost 90k :() by the way, hindi naman sa pagmamayabang, may kaya naman family namin and i know they can support me. Please dont tell me that im such a brat because of resigning and just because i got fed up. yes, i am a certified brat.

:( i am confident that i'll get a decent job, by the way, im turning 26 this july na. am i overaged? or still young to took for a job? because if ever, hanap na lang ako ng business that can sustain my needs. hayyyyyy. the feeling of the future unemployed.

thanks.

You are still young as 26. Ako nga 28 na ako nung naging employed ulit after that 2 years. So many reasons kung bakit ako nabakante ng ganun katagal although yung last job ko before here sa recent, super failure nangyari.

Kung wala ka namang problema and you are confident naman na sa status mo, it is okay lang naman na maging unemployed for a while. Since you have mentioned 3 years ka nagwork I think worth naman na magpahinga ka muna, relax then reflect rin para you will be ready for the next step. Nakakadrain rin magtrabaho ha!

Ako nga hindi pa nag-iisang taon pero andito na yung feeling na masasabi kong AYOKO NA! one thing I feel this way dahil sa hassle ng byahe everyday. As I mentioned to other threads hindi pa ito yung work place during the time na nag apply ako and yet malapit lang sa house namin before. Kung andun pa until now then kahit mababa sahod ko kaya kong magtagal hanggang 3 years, kahit pa na may alternate Saturdays ako. ;D

the way we take things/situations is dependent sa preferences naten.

when people resign, endless reasons yan. may iba dyan ok lang talaga magresign kahit wala pang malilipatan (common for singles, married whose spouse works abroad and earning enough, have to take care of kids coz walang yaya etc.) meron naman di makaresign ng walang malilipatan coz of the mere fact that they have to pay their bills. :)

so in your case, of course syempre your parents would really like to see you as successful in a young age. stable job nga lang ok na sila eh. but in the end, they will support every decision you make.

basta kapit ka lang, take your time. time mo na yan para makapagreflect and to assess your plans for the next couple of months. i know in time you'll land a job na swak sayo. in every company naman di mawawala ang negative factors eh, balance naten yan. di pwedeng perfect lahat. challenge and balance yan from God so we can stay grounded and humble always. :)

You can start looking for a new job then inform the company that would hire you that you have a 2 months notice in the company you are about to leave. In that way, you have the chance to take a vacation for a while then assured that you will have a new environment after the break.

I was unemployed for almost a year due to personal reasons and also got unmotivated after working for 7 years in one company. In some of those rest days, I missed having a job...

I hope you will arrive to the decision that will benefit you more, good luck!

Hi annd, if I may share some points... kung hindi ka na happy sa ginagawa mo and wala ka naman problem financially..I think its a good a decision!

Very critical talaga na you love what you are doing, kasi heto yung magiging drive in becoming the best because this is your passion in order to win...

If you noticed since hindi ka na happy, there will be a tendency that you blame other people, kasi sabi mo nga yung mga tao mo eh hindi na productive. But if you take a lOOK the other side of the coin, babalik din sayo yan. Since you are on the managerial level, what are your actions to make them productive? In a nutshell, pag hindi mo love yung ginagawa mo it may end up not so good.Sabi mo nga baka dumating ang point na magiging inefficient ka lang..so I think tama mo lang na you resign...

Si mother dear mo naman..normal reaction lang ..kasi she wants the best for you.

At the end of the day, ang tanong is masaya ka ba at nagresign ka na? If yes, FANTASTIC! If not,if you still have some doubts..take sometime to reflect on what you really want to do in life...

What you believe in life is a product of choice. Life is all about choices!

Go girl,kaya mo yan!  :)

ako i've been un-employed for a year na and really it makes me feel depressed a lot of times. kase i feel useless at tumatanda na ako, i'm turning 30 sa december. i'm the eldest sa family (yes pressure in everything) and my parents just retired last month.
i keep trying to apply halos every week but the thing is employers always judge me like from my looks "mashado kang pretty, maputi, payat, overage, laki sa abroad" etc to my work experience "why did you accept jobs that are contractual if you wanted a long term career?". so ako naman wala nga tumatangap na long term kaya pati contractual pinatulan ko na diba. tapos the other day i came to a conclusion na patulan na ang call center buti nalang pinaresked ako the next day eh may interview ako the next day so sabi ko it's a sign na sa iba talaga ako dapat. not yet sa callcenter, di pa ako derperate, there is hope lol

Well in your case naman you are lucky your family can support you.  But I think with your credentials you'll find jobs soon.  Pero next time make sure na yung love mo na talagang gawin ang maging direction mo.   Pero at least nakatagal ka ng 3 years ako nung nafeel ko na ayoko na sa job ko hindi ko na nahintay maging regular I left even when they're saying I have a bright future in that company kasi ano brighter brighter na sinasabi nila eh hindi nga ako masaya dun di ba?  Well it turned out my decisions were right, now I'm happy where I am and I'm glad hindi ako nawalan ng pag-asa na makakahanap din ako ng right place for me. =)

Anyhow, I hope you find what makes you happy too.  Don't put too much pressure on your self.  Enjoy your life while you can =)

sis you're still young! we are all young! (at heart hehe) you have all the rights in the world to take care of your life and where you to ought be heading.

huwag kang mag-alala sis, you will be able to figure it out din in time. syempre sa ngayon feeling mo walang job=walang pera. pero walang pera does not = walang life hehe.

as i see it, your resignation = lots of time to spend the way you want = more time to get a life!

same thing.. i am stuck for a year na actually.. i have the same situation as tifay.. age and experiencewise.. e now may mga gusto ako bilhin na di ko magawa kasi lahat ng hatak ko na pera e savings [textspeak!] the whole year.  hirap.. e now di ko alam where to go from here. if I will go back to the actual work that I really love despite the fact of not having REGULARIZATION in the process.. or divert to my 2nd choice na halos antayin ko ang 5pm matapos lang ang lahat.. i feel na no work life balance kasi yung 2nd choice ko.

I've been unemployed twice. Yun una for 1 year and 6 months due to pregnancy and delivery. Second for 2 months.

^sis Miss.Pancake, ask ko lang sabi mo di ba naging ok naman yung mga companies mo after nung nagresign ka at naging unemployed for sometime due to pregnancy... ok lang ba to tell in an interview na ang reason is kinasal ako at kakapanganak ko lang that's why unemployed ako for almost 2 yrs? feeling ko kasi ang haba haba nung pagiging "tambay" ko. nagenroll nga ako ng courses online kung sakaling tanungin ako ano ginawa ko s 2 yrs hehe....

tanong lang. i just resigned from my job last month so almost a month na ako unemployed. medyo nahihirapan ako makahanap ng work sa ngayon na malapit lang sa area where i am residing. i went to a job interview this morning, the office is in makati while i live in pasig. if you were in my shoes, in case tinanggap ka ng company na yan, would you accept their offer? even if you have to commute( lrt then mrt then taxi to their office) from pasig to makati?

^ kumusta sis, did you finally get the job, ok naman ba ang adjustment mo sa makati-pasig commute?  I think makati-pasig is not that bad compared to if you stay in quezon city or say somewhere further north.

Share ko lang din, ako din unemployed now since our company closed its operations here (not in Pinas). I guess compared to all of you guys, ang babata nyo pa. While in my case, there is really a danger/threat na feeling ng mga companies na ina-apply-an ko, I am overqualified (if I go down one level), or minsan if I apply naman sa level na inalisan ko, they feel my credentials are not sufficient - di nila kasi kilala ang school na pinanggalingan ko, worse, my undergrad course is not related to my experience, at higit sa lahat, yung pinanggalingan kong industry for over 10 years e mabibilang mo ang companies dito.

Sa case ninyo, 10-20 years from now, kapag nasa higher level na kayo, then nawalan kayo ng job, are you wiling to take a pay cut? Are you willing to go entry level or staff level again?
Nakaka insulto.  Embarrasing and all.  Parang di ko matanggap.  And this is where I am now.

I would say I can afford not to work as may emergency fund naman ako that can last me for years. But of course, it can only go for so long, and not for the rest of my life.  Tapos may pinapakain din ako na kids, and I am a single mom.  Iniisip ko rin, the longer I wait, maybe the harder it is to get a job?

Priceless

^ Hi sis. Have you considered going into consulting? I'm not sure kung ano yung field of experience and/or expertise mo, but some people with a lot of experience in a certain field tend to get into (technical) consulting jobs after having spent a lot of time in industry.

Look into a different career na din - maybe yung positions or levels in that industry is very different that the one you've come from which means na you don't really have to worry about "entry level" or "staff level".

there is unemployed and unemployable.

unemployed is just a phase.  it will pass or you can do something about it like start your own business.
unemployable is a state of mind.  it will pass or you can do something about it like read self-help and career books

Mixed emotions kapag unemployed. Well for others, mahirap. Unlike me. I get the sense of being happy at a certain point of time kasi I get to take care of my son, who happens to be 3 yrs old by april. Pero, most of the time na bakante ako, hirap na hirap ako kasi una sa lahat hindi naman biro kapag wala kang trabaho and yung times na hihingi pa ko sa parents ko just to buy something for my son. It makes me weak.

Although, my partner is working iba pa rin yung may sarili kang kita. I have been out of the office for 2 months now. naghahanap ng work ngayon kung saan maganda. My last job was in a call center and the reason I resigned because of the schedule (kasi ayaw ng partner ko). Nakakainis lang kasi hindi ako makatagal because of family issues. 6 months lang ako dun. I wanted to stay pero I guess family first pa din.

Ganyan talaga sis. Pero may point naman din kayo, I guess tama din yung quote na "You fall 7 times, stand up at 8" mga ganung feeling ba.
Nursing graduate ako, kaya medyo mahirap yung career growth.
Sa ngayon, I am torned between being a nurse or finding an office job na lang.
