I'm not one to talk, my boy and I just broke up, for all the wrong reasons. Pero post na rin para maka-help sa other sissies here. And di matulad samin lol!

Respect him
Trust him - It's okay to get jealouse pa minsan-minsan, pero pag masyado nyong pinapalaki ang mga bagay or masyadong selosa, it drives them crazy
Give him space - Time for himself, time with friends. Okay naman madalas kayo magkasama (lol lalo kung hubby mo na) but if he hints na parang he needs space or more time para sa kanya, let him be. Mahirap na rin magkasawaan
Compliment him - for the little things he do. It's okay to stroke his ego once a while, wag naman palagi, baka lumaki ulo.
Understand him - men are from mars. women are from venus. Kahit magkaiba man ang planetang pinagmulan natin, time to time, try to view things from his perspective.
Ask for his help - Men need to be needed. Kahit little things lang. Umabot ng something from the top shelf, open a jar... Let him be the prince/knight. Let him treat you like a princess.
Give him time - If you've read Why Men Love Bitches you'll know about the pahabol effect sa guys. And it's actually effective. Kaso too much of no-time-for-you can backfire naman. Baka maghanap yan ng ibang mapaglilibangan. Or he may start to question your love for him, which can really, really hurt your relationship.
Be his best friend - a key daw to long-lasting relationship is for you to be best friends first. Treat each other how you'd treat a friend. Yung nasasabi mo little secrets, little thoughts. Or even your darkest deepest secret lol.
Joke around - Maganda yung you guys can still joke around and act like complete idiots. No fun pag ganon.
Take things seriously - See to it that though you can say jokes to each other, you know when to talk seriously. Basta, listen.
They aren't mind readers, unfortunately.
Love him - Let him see na mahal mo sya. Don't hold back. (Though sakto lang is always best) And it's not enough to just show him, tell him. It's natural for us girls naman to love talaga our partners, show effort, ganun.
Kapag nagseselos naman sya, don't make him question your love for him. Once he starts to question your love, it can really, really hurt your relationship. (Trust me on this one.)
Forgive and forget - Pag may nagawa syang pagkakamali, and you decide to forgive him. Make sure you really have forgiven - and also try to forget.

Then again, minsan you're the perfect gf or wife na pero nakukuha pa rin nila magloko, or di pa rin nagwowork out ang relationship. I guess it just goes to show na if it's really meant to be, it will be. :)

Maganda rin siguro to hear from guys on this one. Sure ball na pag coming from a guy's POV e. :)

If you pick the right guy, you can be the best partner for him.

Una una, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  He can think that you are the world to him kahit pa gaano ka ka-imperfect.

You see, it takes 2 to tango. Hindi ikaw lang mag a-adjust, kayong dalawa. Naniniwala ako kapag tama ang guy na napili mo, you will be the best person for him, no matter what. That's not a relationship.

You don't have to be the best. Sometimes, the harder you try, the more the outcome will be less than you were expecting.

I agree, understand him. Kung baga, hanapin mo ang kiliti nya. What things excite him, his likes and dislikes.

Syempre pag alam mo gusto nya, Mas madali mo sya mapasiya.

(Assuming your husband/boyfriend eh walang matinding psychological hang-ups)

Women need to be loved, kahit na there are times when they are unloveable (eg moody or topakin). This is called unconditional love. Men, on the other hand, need to be respected, though there are times they don't deserve to be respected (eg slob, make wrong decisions). This is called unconditional respect.

Respect and the lack of it may manifest in the type of communication used by women. There is a widely referenced study in the US that there four communication types that highly predict divorce. They are criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling. The latter two are just responses to the first two. And usually, it is women who use the first two.

For me criticisms and contempts are signs of disrespect of women on men. No matter how much you love him but you have a sharp tongue (eg hyper critical, uses condesceding tone), your love will get you nowhere. He needs your respect more than your love.

That said, employ a respectful or softer ways to raise concerns. There are many differences in a relationship (eg gender, temperament, values, family background, beliefs, mundane habits), and how you continually and consistently deal with these, can strengthen or erode your relationship in the long run.

Be a good friend, by symphatizing with him and comforting him when he's stressed and problematic. If he wants to be in his mancave for a while, let him be. Respect his space. Listen when he's talking about stuff even if it doesn't interest you in a bit.

Stroke his male ego. Appreciate the good things he does. Express gratitude for the sacrifices he give. Admire his manly qualities. Respect his dreams, don't undermine it.

Learn about sex. Be generous. Learn how to please him.

Ayun...

Respect. Una sa lahat have enough respect for yourself. Do not ever put your partner's needs above yours. Dapat equal. Kumbaga give and take. Wag puro how to please your partner ang intindihin, how to please yourself muna.

Tapos respect each other's indivduality, respect each other's privacy. Never ever try to change him at ikaw never ever try to change for him. Kung may respeto, you won't see each other as possessions. You then become careful not to hurt each other's feelings. So dun pumapasok ang trust.

At pag nag away kayo never resort to name calling or cursing kasi that escalates to violence. Hanggang nagsasakitan na kayo physically.

Dun sa let men be men eh di dapat let women be women din. Let us have our own thing, let us have our own fun. I let my man be with friends and he let me be with mine. We each go on out of town trips without each other. Walang pag momonitor na nagaganap or mayat mayang calls or text or away. we let each other be our own self, have our set of friends.

And we miss each other so much after not being together. Sobrang dami namin kwento sa isat isa. We make up for the lost times, masaya. Ang sarap ng feeling na you are not walking on eggshells, alam mo yun? Hehe.

(Assuming your husband/boyfriend has no deep psychological hang-ups)

1. Work on your personal issues

If you have emotional insecurity, possessiveness, full of distrust, neediness/clinginess they will affect how you relate with your partner and will inevitably seep into your relationship. Best to work on it with yourself and share with your partner what caused you to be that way so they can understand you and help you out. A relationship is an empty plate wherein you put into it what you got (e.g., attitude, unresolved issues from the past).

2. Pursue your personal interests

Not only will this be good to your personal growth but it will also help indirectly your relationship. If you're not doing things that fulfills you and fills out your time, chances are majority of your attention and time will fall on him. This can then lead you to make a big fuss of his minor mistakes which you would otherwise ignore when you're pursuing something, or to revolve your world around him. In addition, pursuing your interests will also make you happy. And as they say, "happy wife, happy life."

Oh and by the way, what I meant by no psychological hang-ups is that they have no controlling/manipulative behaviors, sex addiction, emotional instability, out-of-proportion jealousy, hurt your feelings out of spite, give you silent treatment for days or weeks, chronic cheating, or any behaviors that are dysfunctional or unhealthy. And of course as a wife and gf, you're free of these things too. Otherwise, it simply won't work.

Be the kind of person that your bf/hubby needs and wants.

I've come across this article and it's a nice read.
https://familyshare.com/20288/your-husband-has-5-basic-needs-are-you-meeting-them

Sabi dyan that our husband has 5 basic needs:

1. Recreational Companionship
You can enjoy doing your own things, pero why not take interest in our hubby's hobbies also? More bonding time na rin with each other

2. Admiration
As often as possible, tell your husband how much you love and appreciate all he's doing for the family.

3. Sexual Fulfillment
Intimacy between the couple should not be neglected.

4. Domestic Support
After a long day at work, husband s would want to come home to a warm home cooked meal, a clean house, etc (well who doesn't ;) ) pero as a wife responsibility daw natin yan.

5. An Attractive Spouse
Continue to put effort in making yourself attractive for your spouse daw.

But i agree with sis Girltalker.
Even if you do everything you can but to the wrong guy, bale wala lahat ng effort. But to the right guy, kahit walang kaeffort effort, you'll always be the best and right one for him.
