Maybe it's because I've grown up and lived in the U.S. for so long, but it is absolutely not uncommon for women to have foregone marriage in place of having successful careers and independence. I'm 35. Yes. Thirty-Five and single. ATROCIOUS to some, but frankly I don't give a damn. I live on my own, in NYC and have a wonderful career, family and friends who even though have gotten married one by one, have never failed to be by my side when I needed them. Granted there are some downsides to being single, but man do the upsides outweigh them. I am a strong, confident woman who can things on her own, embraces her aloneness rather than deny it and believe me, that is something men can, will and does respect (and find very attractive, by the way).

That's my girl!

Strongly disagree. Maybe this is true for the Philippines, but not necessarily everywhere else. There's many men, who has shared the same woes of having not found "the one." Many men in their 30s who are single typically have really great established careers and are ready to give women the stability that they look for. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them, they have just been with the wrong women ;)

Amen! OT: Come to LA and let's have a drink (or two).

Serena.

You said it already. "You dont want to get married yet." You clearly want to enjoy the world alone even if you do have a boyfriend. I think you are just pressured by those - friends getting married, facebook status. I suggest dont think too much about it. You are still young (well, for me). Girl im telling you, dont get pressured by these things. Madaling magpakasal, madaling mag-anak. What important is, who will be your groom. Just wait, DO NOT rush things kasi kapag nagpakasal ka na, it's not something you can take back. I suggest you visit a church and try to meditate or reflect events in your life by talking to Him. For you to have a "peace of mind". HTH! ;)

Yes sis, I am referring to the Philippine context.  For some reason, our society back home is very restricting. Kaya I am also thankful na accidentally, wala ako sa Pinas ngayon for so many years narin, it opened up my eyes that there is a much bigger and happier world out there for single powerful women.

Cheers!

Some people want to be in a relationship, while others want to be out of a relationship.

Very much true, single here in my 30s and I don't think I will have any relationship soon. I'm much too focused on my career and my kid. Being in a relationship would definitely complicate things. I have so much accomplish things in life.

I've met batchmates who had gotten themselves married. While it's true that some of them were happy
with their marriages, there's also a lot of them who want to get out of their marriages. When they meet me, they tell me that it's a good thing raw that I didn't marry because filing an annulment case is such an expensive and no-guarantee process.

Sis don't care what other people do just care what you want to do. Ang pagkasal ay seryosong bagay and di pwedeng ipeerpressure yan!

I'm 27 and haven't been in a relationship in a while. Though sometimes fear and frustration get the best of me, I often say to myself, it's better to wait for that faithful someone than to rush things up with anyone who could only bring you into another crying-a-river scenario or worst shackled into a disastrous marriage.
