who tried to enroll their Kids in Kumon?

4 years na anak ko sa kumon. yung first 2 years nya, reading muna. tapos inenrol ko din sya sa math. nagakataon naman na nong nagstart sya sa math e mahirap na yung reading nya kaya napilitan ako stop yung reading. she reads fast na now and sobrang hilig nya sa book. sa math naman, mas magaling na sya sakin ngayon. siguro waley lang talaga ako pag daring sa math. hehe.
anyways, masteral of the topic is their strategy. no finger-counting sa math. my daughter is in grade 2 now and she's doing fractions na. subteaction of fractions. kailangan lang disciplined both the parents and the child. 2x a week yung session, 30mins - 1 hour per session. tapos may homework everyday kahit holidays. (including the good friday, christmas, new year). sobrang laking tulong nito samin. dati lagi kami nag aaway pag review na ng math. iyakan talaga. pero now may times na di kami nakakareview pero perfect nya pa rin quizzes. may times nga lang na umiiyak na anak mo dahil feeling nya too much na ang kumon. halos lahat naman ng kumon student dumadaan sa ganong churva.  pero dont give up. malalagpasan nya din yun. hays, haba na. sorry kung medyo magulo...

 they do news reporting in school in one of their subjects. yesterday i asked her kung mabilis na ba magbasa lahat ng classmates nya. (curious lang) she said" hindi. yung iba parang pirated" . hehe.

wow.nice sis.nabigyan moko idea gusto kasi namin ni hubby dun since 14 mos palang baby namin nagpaplan na kami kung kakayanin sa gastos..tutukan mo talaga anak mo dun which is sana naman magawa ko un kasi we're working parents e.pero kakayanin naman pagdating sa anak mo.my hubby kasi is accountant and gusto nya math.at gusto rin nya ganun anak nya mahilig sa math.ako kasi mababa iq ko hehe.1,800 per month dun per subject tama ba? ilang subject ba kadalasan?

^they only offer Math and Reading sis. Ako naman we tried the 2 week free trial ng Kumon. Di ko nagustuhan kasi parang ang ginagawa nila dun is memorization. And puro worksheets lang parang di worth it yung P1800 na fee for 1 subject. So I opted not to enroll my kids, kasi andami namang free worksheets online that you can download and print and ipagawa and ituro mo sa kids mo. Opinion ko lang din yun.

Uhm, di mo [textspeak!] sis makikita sa free trial yung result na gusto mo e. Mga 6 months bago mo makita na your child can read na talaga or can do the computation na. But it depends pa rin kung gano kabilis pick up ng bata.

^I know naman sis kasi 4 days lang sila nagpunta sa center during the trial. Siguro its just me, ayoko nung method nila, yung repetition and memorization yung ayoko. Parang ang lumalabas kasi, they really don't know kung pano binabasa yung mga words, parang pag nakita nila yung spelling na CAT, automatic it is read as cat already.

4.5 years ang daughter ko enrolled at kumon math since may this year, independent na sya sa paggawa ng worksheets nya pero pag new topic turo ko lang sa kanya how to answer the first few items.. medyo nakokonsenysa lang ako kasi minsan nanaginip sya about numbers, she's counting on her sleep.. she cries kapag walang pasok sa kumon kasi nakasanayan na nya pumunta sa center.  ayoko din ng memorization style, more on analysis pa rin tinuturo ko sa anak ko using the worksheets of kumon, kunwari i ask her why is 4 + 1 equal to 5...etc.  mabilis naman daw sya mag-answer sa center sabi ni teacher, so minsan 15 minutes lang uwi na ulit sila ni yaya.  bored na anak ko math sa school nya kasi ordinal numbers and writing number in words pa lang inaaral nila (junior casa sya)..

Usually 3 yrs old daw.  If younger than 3 but can follow directions/repeat what the teacher is saying, pede na rin magKumon.

I also had the trial class for Reading.  My son just turned 3 and kaya naman nya ang mga worksheets.  But I decided not to enroll him.  Hindi ko pa masyado maappreciate ang method nila for his age.

^sabi naman samen, as early as 3 pwede na basta pwede na iwan yung kid with the teacher. Meron nga nung trial 2 yrs old lang So I guess wala naman silang tinatanggihan

ok sis...pwede ba 1 subject at a time kunyari math muna tapos pag ok na sya reading naman...pwede ba un? and [textspeak!] payments ba monthly or full payment for the whole year?

Enrolment in one subject is allowed. They also accept monthly payments. Based on the orientation I attended, if you want to enroll in Oct, payt should be made by 3rd week of Sept.  If no payment is received, they will not give the assigned worksheets.  They recommend at least one year enrollment to see the full impact of Kumon to your child.
