most likely yes if medyo malaki.  they will probably ask bakit ang laki ng savings mo or why are you have savings in US Dollars.  you can always say that you want to save in US Dollars for foreign trips or to buy stuff in Amazon.  Siyempre make sure that your peso savings as a couple is equal or more than your US Dollars.  Kasi kapag super laki yun Dollar savings mo as compared to your combined peso savings or your peso salary, baka matanong.    hopefully they won't dwell so much on this.   bottom line i guess is you have money to fund your trip.

Guys, okay lang ba sumama yung dad ko sa US embassy kapag magiinterview kami nung family ko although kakarenew lang nya ng visa last year? Siya kasi magfifinance ng trip and dependents kami sa kanya. I'm a 20 year old student and kasama kong mag-aapply yung housewife kong mother and my 2 younger sisters, both aged 14 and 9. Baka kasi tanungin kami regarding financial matters so mas okay sana kung yung dad ko yung sasagot. Will that work?

pwede kasi i think you are all considered minors.  I'm sure your younger sisters are considered minor.  i don't remember if 20 years old is considered minor.   but you're dad needs to bring proof that he has the capacity to shoulder all expenses.  he might be asked about it

sis, you have to monitor every now and then, like in my case, 2 days akong nag abang ng available schedule for this month and luckily, yesterday morning may nag open ng march 29, i was able to to confirm interview schedule at 9:15am. hth

Thanks portugalbear for the tip! I thought mas makakabuti kung ime-mention ng mom ko that she'll take care of my newborn on September. I'll just tell them na yung trip nila is for vacation purposes only.

One more question mga sis, confusing kasi..ano ang pinaka-shortest length ng visa ang gina-grant ng mga consuls? I would love to have my parents to stay at least a month sana on September. And let's say they get an interview next month and granted a 3-month visa. The visa validity will run on the first day they get here in US right? tama ba?.. I never had a tourist visa before, one time I applied but was denied, so wala talaga akong ka-ide-idea. Thanks in advance!

^sis, magka-iba ang visa validity sa length of stay. Ang US embassy in Manila ang nagbibigay ng visa validity. Using your example na 3 months validity, kunwari binigay ng consul sa embassy ay Valid for entry from August to October 2011 only. Dapat within the stated dates makarating sila sa US. Entry kasi yung pinag-uusapan dito hindi stay.

Now yung length of stay naman, ang US Immigration Officer ang nagbibigay nun upon entry na nila sa US. Depende sa magiging sagot nila during the immigration interview at the port of entry, pwede silang bigyan ng 3 months stay or 6 months stay. The 6 months stay is the longest initial stay na pwede nilang makuha. I said initial kasi once nakapasok na sila they can request for extension once mag-expire na their stay (max 3 months).

So maski pa 3 months valid yung visa issued by the US embassy in Manila kung bigyan sila ng US IO ng 6 months stay, legal pa rin status nila.

Ganun pla yun sis? So yung husband ko mageexpire visa nya sa feb 2012. Does this mean he can go to the states kahit jan 2012? No need for at least 6 months valid ang visa?

^Yes, he can use it until the very end of Feb 2012. Just make sure pagpasok nya ng US ang date is Feb 29, 2012.

I think you're confusing the 6 months validity with our passport. Ang passport natin should be at least 6 months valid when we travel.

Any idea kung ano ang pinaka-shortest visa validity na ini-issue nila? so I can plan when's the best time to get my parent's interview schedule. Hoping they'd get here on early September.

^sis, that would really depend on the consul interviewing your parents. I know of a friend who got a one month single entry visa. That was her first time to travel to the US. After her initial trip and when she applied again, they gave her a five year multiple entry visa.

You can request for interview any time basta indicate lang nila their intended departure date is in September. Last I checked puno na ang April so it would be a good idea to schedule them soon.

the shortest tourist visa I know was a 1-week stay in hawaii. my hubby's cousin's reason was that she will be having her exams there. toinks! when she got there, the IO gave her a 6-month stay validity. hindi lang sya nag exam, nagliwaliw pa sa new york. mas mahal pa yung ticket nya to NY than going to hawaii. Lokaret lang.

Yep, that's how it is...I'm using again my visa which expires on 26Apr2011 and I'm leaving on the 21st. The Canadian visa I got for transit nga, they made it into the same expiry date as the US visa hehe...sigurista!

^^mama_squeak-I've even heard of a pilot applying for a US visa (diba B1/B2 n C1/D sila) and amg binigay eh 1month valid lang LOL...talk about tough luck eh?
