Catholic garden wedding

Hi mga sis! parang wala akong nababasa na garden/beach wedding na catholic ceremony. However, I saw a facebook page where possible siya.

According to them when i sent a message, missionary priest ang mag-oofficiate kaya pwede raw sa labas ng church unlike sa mga parish priest. Any feedback on this?

Ang alam ko pag both Catholics kailangan sa Church talaga (nakalimutan ko na yung exact explanation) pero it has something to do with marriage as sacrament and kailangan sa canonical form gawin. Better yet, ask kayo sa diocese nyo (or church nyo) to confirm. baka may cases na in-approve yung Catholic wedding outside the church.

h2b and i are both catholic po but due to some reasons, gusto na din kami ipakasal ng parents namin kahit civil lang muna. but original plan is november 2018 pa dapat kami sa church wedding. so, we are thinking na mag civil muna pero parang may celebration din sana. mala-garden civil wedding but i saw this post so, we are interested. TIA!

^ I saw another ad where a priest or even a bishop can officiate the wedding outside the church. try to contact them sis.

^thanks sis. sige we'll check din. Actually, before kasi nabasa ko na dito sa FN na hindi na nga daw nagcoconduct ng wedding ang priests outside church so mejo di ko na cinonsider ito. Pag pastor naman daw for garden wedding, dapat ATA si groom or bride eh dapat ka member ng pastor sa chuch? tama ba? however, last month lang...my mom attended a wedding (sa province), sabi nya pastor daw ang nagconduct ng wedding BUT ang alam nya both catholic si bride and groom.

Alam ko church wedding lang talaga pag Catholic, although there are rare exemptions. We also discussed this during our pre-cana seminar. I forgot the full details, but bottomline, it's supposed to be in church. The best thing to do is to contact your local parish regarding this kasi kahit na anong research natin, the best person who can answer this are the church staff.

For Roman Catholics, ang alam ko it has to be in a parish church kasi it is considered a sacrament (so it is also about the Church and not just the couple). Even if you find a priest na willing to hold the wedding ceremony outside the church, you still need to register with a parish (to submit your documents, hold canonical interviews, etc) for it to be recognized by the Church, so I don't know how that would work.

In theory it's possible to get a special dispensation from a bishop to get married outside the church but that's only for critical reasons (for example, if one of you is bedridden and physically unable to get to the church). What I know na people do is they keep the actual church wedding very intimate (family lang) and then for the garden "wedding" they just hold  a special ceremony na non-canonical.

^^ and ^ thank you sisses for the insight. yes, agree din ako na mas maganda na if both catholic si groom and bride, sana eh sa church sila. but that's just me, syempre.

bakit ganun? bakit for me, sa church wedding magiinvite tapos sa garden wedding or civil wedding ang intimate, lols.

I strongly suggest that you ask your church first before making plans on an outdoor wedding officiated by a ?priest? from Facebook, of all places.

I would rather spend minimal amount on a wedding which is legitimate, meaning valid, rather than spend thousands of money where there is doubt because the solemnizing officer was not authorized.

There are only instances when a pastor/priest can marry outside the Church if it is at the point of death. If not, then better get married in church if you are catholic.

A marriage officiated by a pastor requires that atleast one of the contracting parties (bride and groom) must belong to that congregation/ religion otherwise the marriage is not valid.

Technically you can have a catholic garden wedding or anywhere else for that matter BUT you need to have the rites done inside the church FIRST. Bale twice ka ikakasal. The first one really needs to be done inside the catholic church unless you're on your death bed.

Maggie Wilson did this when she got married in Misibis. Nung una akala nya pa super powerful ng wedding coordinator nya pero ni require pa din sila ng diocese na ikasal muna sa loob sa ng simbahan. Kryz Uy and Slater Young also went through the same.
