Mayors as Wedding Officiator

Are mayors allowed to officiate weddings in a venue in a different municipality? Our family knows the mayor in my hometown but we plan to hold the wedding ceremony in my girlfriends municipality. It will be a garden wedding by the way.

I've read that they can officiate weddings within their territorial jurisdiction.

Do you know someone who had the same situation with this?

Hi! Yes, mayors have the power to officiate a wedding. Mayor din ng hometown namin ang kumasal sa amin and it took place sa bahay namin. Sa town namin, may bayad kung sa chosen location mo ang wedding ceremony at free, or very minimal fee lang, kung sa office of the mayor mismo. I'm not sure though kung allowed na sa ibang town mag-officiate, other than his/her jurisdiction.

Yes. Mayors are allowed. We were married by the mayor of the husband's town pero sa munisipyo mismo ginawa ang ceremony. Ang alam ko hindi sila pwede lumabas sa territory nila since sila ang magssign sa marriage certificate and that certificate will be filed sa local registry kung san ginawa [textspeak!] kasal.
