What's your setup in terms of MONEY?
« on: October 19, 2016, 06:26:46 am »
I just got married and we will be together soon (currently, LDR).

May mga monthly bills kami like house rent, phone bills, and others.
(not really a priority)

Other than that, wala na naman kaming responsibility pa.

What is ideal for us? Enough naman ang magiging sweldo namin dalawa for our expenses. Ang gusto ko sana, a portion of our salary will be for our expenses together, savings, and kanya kanyang pera.

Please give me some tips, how to manage our finances.

^Hi sis:) pwede mo suggest ke hubby kung paano mo gusto imanage yung pera nyong 2. tapos pag usapan nyo if agree sya dun:)

Sa amin, 1 year married na, ang setup is ganito: me breakdown ako ng expenses namin (bills, food, etc) na nakapost sa ref so me visibility kami both ano dapat namin bayaran for the month (or per cutoff). tapos, yung buong salary ni hubby at ako, kinocombine namin every payroll period. tapos idededuct na dun yung monthly allowance namin each and yung percentage for our own pocket money. the rest, ibabawas yung total expenses tapos yung matitira, savings na namin. ako ang nagmamanage nun and inauupdate ko lang si hubby kung ano nangyayari:) so far effective naman smen.

To TS.. I suggest pag-usapan niyo ni hubby mo kung ano yung comfortable kayo sa set-up sa finances nyo. What works for one couple, may not work for another couple.. Depende talaga sa usapan niyo iyan. Marami pwede options. You can have separate bank accounts (joint account for savings), then you can separate money to settle your personal credit card debts and to buy personal things (like an allowance), etc.
Sa amin, set-up namin is I handle our finances.. This is what my husband also wants kasi mas metikulosa ako at I take note of due dates better. However, for big purchases and mga investments, we always consult each other before making the purchase or mag-invest.
We pool our salaries together, 60% goes to house amortization, utilities, groceries, household expenses, expenses para sa baby. 20% goes to savings (auto-debit para sigurado na), 10% goes to investment and insurance premiums and 10% personal money namin (allowance namin, we can spend any way we want, dito rin namin kinukuha budget for eating out and gala).

May kilala akong ganun.

Now that we're already married, may joint savings account na kami. Alam nya pero di nya alam how much laman. ;)

At the same time, nagssubmit sya sakin ng monthly report. It works kasi okay kaming dalawa sa set up.

What works for us is we pool our funds together. Both assets and liabilities are shared. Works for us kasi we talk less about money kasi we both have access sa money. We both have the same amount of cash allowance din that we withdraw every payday. We only give reminders to each other of upcoming big expenses like ngayon pasko, magpapadala ng pera sa pilipinas, or if we want to buy something expensive, we give each other a heads up lang para hindi magkagulatan sa bill ng credit card. Hehe.

Yeah I think was healthy sa marriage ang pooling of funds so both parties know the financial standing of the family.  Usually the guy would be in charge of household expenses like food, utilities, schooling of the kids and other household expenses.  The girl usually just helps out with other expenses at home like clothing for the kids and for the hubby.  The status of the funds should be known by both parties all the time so if meron bibilhin and mag dedeposit, both should know about it.

My husband manages our finances. He sure knows better than I do. But for any money setup between married couples, I think the key is transparency, most especially sa lahat ng nilalabas nyong money.

even before we got married, my husband told me that he'll let me manage our monthly budget. what works for us right now since we have almost same earnings, we have a list of all our monthly expenses - utilities, groceries, gas, weekend gala, church, etc. then share kami dun as in half-half. whatever is left from his salary is his, and whatever is left from my salary is mine. pero we both know where our money goes. either savings, fund for other stuff like house construction, travel, or pay sa kanya kanya naming bill. etc. it gives us yung freedom to spend pa rin on the things that we want, after we set aside money for the things that we need. i agree na transparency is the key when it comes to finances.

same thoughts with our sis here. but for my input:
pera ko is pera ko, i buy for my own luho - books, clothes, make up, skin care.
i may sound selfish pero the reason this works for us is i encourage him to invest pag may naiipon kami. mga retirement funds, business (na pinapa ikot lang namin ang money - every profit pinapa cycle lang.hindi pwede gastusin), etc.
if he has something to buy something, sasabihan ko siya na yung mamahalin na yung bilhin para hindi na papalit palit at nasisira. up to him kung ano final decision, but i don't nag him pag mga pangit nabibili niya.
house renovation - brain storming kami lagi neto. ako sa ideas, research, canvass tapos pera niya ang pang gastos.hehe!
i know his salary pero kahit na siya ang nagbabayad ng bills, naiinis pa siya hindi ko siya pinapayagan to pay for my vices. unmanly daw. lol
he wants to provide me allowance, i don't. tama na sakin na may mga investments kami and he pays for the bills.
btw, newly married din kami.

We also pool our funds together and from there kukunin namin ang pangbayad sa bills. we have monthly allowance also, then the rest sa savings. pero my husband always insists na siya magbayad sa mga pang shopping ko. i don't know, ego siguro nila.

Hayaan niyo gastusan kayo ng mga lalaki. Gusto nila maging provider. Kailangan nila maramdaman na inaalagaan nila kayo.

this is something that should have been discussed before getting into marriage :)  normally expected si husband to provide but lets be realistic, some wives earn more than the husbands.  regardless, both your income and savings are conjugal na so know how much money a month you are working with para you know if you have to cut off on certain things like starbucks for some, or buying gadgets para you can reach your goal to eventually have your own car and house. sounds good?
