Keeping Up with the Joneses

I find that people who say this are the ones who are actually trying too hard to keep up with the Joneses - "Uy bili ka na rin ng bagong phone or LV bag or whatever is new. Kayang-kaya mo naman!"

I've heard that a lot of times from some friends and it never failed to irritate me. If I buy something, it's because I need/want it, not because everybody has/wants it. Just shrug it off, don't be pressured to do what other people are doing. We have different priorities.

Nah, ignore them lang sis. I find it hard noon to ignore, but eventually I learned the art of deadma. Mas importante kase yung goals ko kesa sa mga material things that they're flashing at me. A tip so that you won't feel deprived (I'm not saying that you are), is to have a money jar that's basically for leisure. I call it "Abundant Spending" jar so I can splurge without feeling guilty coz I saved up for it.

Let them sleep while you grind. Let them party while you work. Let them spend while you save and invest. Let them see the result in 5 years. To financial independence and beyond!

I can relate to this. I left our group since our lifestyles and priorities have been different lately.

It's easy to say ignore, but since the rest of them can relate with each other, they, of course, can freely talk about this topic in our group chat. Sometimes they're even insistent, like to join them in travels which is not really my priority.
