Have you ever dated a foreigner girl?
« on: September 04, 2013, 10:14:42 am »
Hi guys!

There is a post about this for girls, so I thought of asking you guys naman. I think it will be interesting to hear guys' POV and experiences about this!

Questions:
1. Have you ever dated a foreigner? (kahit hindi full foreigner)
2. Anong nationality?
3. Did you encounter cultural differences? Difficult part of dating one.
4. What is the difference of dating a foreigner versus dating a filipina?

I think there are more cases kasi na girls dating a foreigner guy. I'm not saying this is a fact but based on my observation lang. I'm personally interested in hearing thoughts about this kasi I'm half-Filipino and Japanese and there were times na when I was dating a Filipino guy, he would sometime say "You are so Japanese...," and I'm like "Well I am Japanese..." lol so sometimes napapaisip ako na maybe they consider me as a foreigner even though, I do have Filipino traits rin naman.

Please share your experience! :)

Not exactly dates, but more like flings for me. One was half-Dane, the other was Canadian. Not much cultural difficulties, really. In general, Westeners are less inhibited than Pinays.

Hi! Newbie here, this is my first message.

This is interesting...

1. Have you ever dated a foreign national?

Yes, twice. They were my exes (why didn't it work? it has a long story behind it).  ;D

2. Anong nationality?

Korean & American (they have no Filipino heritage whatsoever)

3. Did you encounter cultural differences?

Yes because we don't have the same nationality (I'm a Filipino, they are otherwise). I don't believe that this is the difficult part. People come from all walks of life. Staying with each other, putting all the pieces together & making things work can be very challenging. That's why a person's good attitude/outlook in life/the way s/he looks at the world is very important.

4. What is the difference of dating a foreigner versus dating a Filipina?

They have their own advantages & disadvantages. It's a matter of how one would look at it or can rather be just a matter of preference. A lot of people have misconceptions about other nationals. As a general rule of thumb, we shouldn't generalize people no matter where they come from. Not all Westerners are modern or liberated just as not all Asians are conservative/reserved.

I'm still single. It doesn't really matter to me whether my future Ms Right is a Filipina or not as long as we'll love each other enough to hurdle anything.

Take care.  ;)

yes. primarily Australians.

i think there will be differences and similarities with women around the world.

but typical puti: In general, hindi maarte. straight forward. vocal. but they're still women. they can get emotional too, sweet, fickle, feisty etc. the empowered ones will not fall into the role of a 50s girlfriend or 50s wife. expect them to be very independent and more masculine than the Asian female.

differences talaga would primarily be cultural. a lot of people kasi have so many stereotypes in their heads. maganda talaga is makilala tayo, so the stereotypes will be broken. yun nga lang, sometimes, people are afraid to break boundaries because nauuna ang stereotypes bago yung reality.

(trust me, its all out there. even sa forums, pinaguusapan ng mga puti yan).

so example, sa buhay ko, some of the women i've met, or even those i didn't date, look down sa balikbayan boxes, extended family, remittances so support whoever. eh hindi naman gawain ng pamilya ko yun. may mga puti na masgusto pa nila mag hire a nanny kahit may willing na kamag anak ka accross the road. but this will never happen kasi mas opt nila tumira ng malayo sa kamag anak or kapatid/magulang.

so what I'm trying to say here is, IF they don't believe in those or kung magpapaka-uto sila sa stereo types, then they will not see a future with you. however, there are those naman who will accept/understand, but they will draw the line somewhere.

malaki din ang factor ng social class (upbringing and environment), na minsan nasasabi as cultural problem, pero hindi naman. so if you are able to date a richy rich guy/girl or a common guy/girl, you can expect a lot of differences. i've dated a girl from a well to do family, and our differences were primarily cultural. social status wise pareho kami ng pananaw sa buhay....kaya nga kami nag click in the first place.

challenging talaga. kaya some pinoys, nauuwi sila sa pinay (lalo na pag lalake), dahil yun ang mas "kilala" nila. mas madali imanage ang familiar, sa hindi familiar.
