quiet resto where i can work for hours, comfy seats

anyone who's got a "secret" nook where one can just lay out one's laptop and papers and work for hours???  preferably not too noisy/ crowded, and with comfy sofa seats, at hindi awkward mag-isa nang matagal 

... care to share?

naku sis please don't do that. restos are for dining in not to make tambay and work. you will occupy a space na sana sa customers nila. usually once done eating kukunin na nila plates and utensils maybe a signal for you to pay and leave kasi may iba pang uupo at kakain. parang hassle naman diba kung ikaw yung customer at kakain ka tapos may table na yung tao nag laptop/work hindi naman na kakain.

sa coffee shop ko lang nakikita yung mga ganito but sa restos usually peope just come and go. no one stays for long hours there unless they are still ordering and eating. sa coffee shop kasi you buy coffee and leave, usually coffee pwede mo drink on the go. while food alangan naman kainin mo habang nakatayo or naglalakad plus dinayo mo pa yung resto tapos walang available table kasi most customers there nag work/laptop and not eating anymore. just my two cents.

thanks for your two cents, sis, but i think hindi na sya no-no these days, and for quite some time na din... maybe i shouldn't have used the term "restos" baka coffee shops nga ... actually, what i probably meant was a lounge where i could do all those stuff i just said... siguro naman dahil "lounge" na ang tawag sa kanila eh di na bawal ang mag-lounge

^^ I have to agree with you here, it actually kills business for the restaurant/coffee shop/lounge owners. I do know some business owners who are peeved with these kinds of people. One recent rant I saw on FB said that there were 6 students who stayed in his restaurant for 6 hours with a total bill of only 650. They were using the plug, even had their own extension cords to charge their phones/laptops/tablets.

Also, this also makes true customers get turned off to go to that establishment because even if thess students/workers are quiet, they hog the seats for hours and hours. Buti kung 1-2 hours lang and they constantly purchase drinks or food. I was at Starbucks Magnolia yesterday for a meeting (we were there a total of 1-1.5hrs) and had a hard time finding seats because there were a lot of people studying or tinkering with their laptops. Nakakainis lang kasi you'd see that they didn't have drinks but we had a trayful of merienda and drinks.

Please dont do this. Kahit sa Starbucks pa yan. Do it at home. Magkulong ka sa room kung gusto mo ng quite time. Kawawa naman ang business owners.

geez, lighten up peeps!  i thought some things would be obvious ...

... natural naman i will be ordering food throughout my stay, otherwise i would be asking for a library and not a resto/ cafe/ lounge/ whatever...
... if i were looking for a place na dapat eat-and-go ka lang, i would have asked for a cafeteria...
... natural naman i would be first getting a pulse of the place, kaya nga hinahanap ko some nook lang, hindi crowded, therefore i wouldn't be taking up space needed by others..
... pag dumami naman ang tao later, kukusa naman akong aalis, because that is what precisely i am trying to avoid anyway

... there are actually places where it's ok ... and where it's not, i'm sure there are guards/ waiters/ owners who will tell me that it's not ok
... by the very word "lounge", that means the owners are actually chill with people hanging out for hours at their place... look the word up

If I remember correctly, Cafe Publico is a place you can hang out, in fact the owner encouraged it. But it's moved locations na and the new place is practically a stall nalang...

LOL. Yeah, this thread got a little too heavy.

Places that come to mind are those frequented by students, like McDo and a big Starbucks. You'll blend right in among the studying crowd, and if there are lots of people, the guards/employees won't even notice if you don't keep ordering food.

There's this local coffee shop near my house that I go to when the internet is down at home. I once had to spend about 3 days out of a week there. I made sure to order drinks/food at least once every 1-2 hours. Also occupied a single table in a corner so other customers wouldn't be bothered.

How about Holly's? Coffee shop na hindi karamihan ang tao plus has free wifi. Ako rin naman kapag I'll be staying there for a couple hours I order every hour or so. Hehe. Cause I know how it feels when you go to often crowded places like STARBUCKS and the peeps there with their books or laptops would order one drink and stay there for hoooooursss. Tapos ikaw tong order ng food and coffee tapos walang maupuan. Tapos sila pa yung magrereklamo na maingay kayo. Hahaha. Kairita lang sobra.

GMA News TV 11's Good News featured some restos/coffee shops wherein they encourage you to do the things you cited, for a minimum purchase pa nga yung iba...sana I can get hold of a link. There was one na you can even take a nap hahaha plus one na you can hold a group study, may white board and the likes. Ang saya ng ganito
