Dressing up for a potentially life-changing interview is a lot more complicated for women than it is for men. Whether it’s because we have too many choices (not that we’re complaining!) or because we tend to value sartorial presentation more than our male counterparts, the fact remains—we simply have to plan our outfits! While what we’ll wear to the interview depends a lot on the company we want to work at, here are a few reminders to consider:

1. Fit and function
The night before the interview or a few days before, check the fit of your clothes. Mend holes or tears.
2. Fashion emergency
Bring safety pins and double-sided tape. You never know when that zipper will suddenly break!
3. Middle ground
Do not overexpose or underexpose yourself. Too much skin or fabric can make you look indecent or stuffy in an instant.
