“Everything is about choice,” says femtrepreneur Kat Nantes. Sitting with the petite co-owner of Paire Cocktails and Pastries, it’s easy to see why the philosophy works for her. After all, her choices led her to start a garage sale, open a computer shop, and pick up on the mobile bar craze all before the age of 30.

Of course, there have been good calls (e.g. opening Paire) and bad ones (e.g. choosing the wrong people to work with), but the young woman casually charges it all to experience. For someone as passionate Kat, life is simply too short to waste by the sidelines (she's pursuing target shooting now.). Here, she shares some of her firsthand tips on how you can find and pursue your passion.

1. Figure out what you want.
Ask yourself what you want to happen in your life. Do you want to start a business? Do you want to go abroad? Do you want to master an instrument? Know thyself.

2. Identify your skills.

Now is not the time to be modest. “When you excel in one thing, then you pursue it,” Kat advises. “You have to accept and know who you are first for you to be able to discover your talents and your passion in life, what your purpose is here on earth and everything will follow.”

3. Consider your resources.
Before you pursue your passion, think about how you're going to fund it. Be realistic about your options. Before starting Paire in 2011, Kat and her sister Abby had to come up with a presentation to persuade their parents to invest in their restaurant.

4. Learn to prioritize.
If you find yourself interested in a lot of things, know which ones should take precedence. Don't spread yourself so thinly or else you wouldn't be doing any of your passions justice.

5. Don’t be afraid to fail.
“You really have to fail before you succeed, so be thankful na alam mo 'yung passion mo and be thankful na meron kang mga failures na dinadadaanan 'coz 'yun 'yung isa sa mga steps para malaman mo kung successful ka na or not (You really have to fail before you succeed, so be thankful that you know your and that you're going through failures because that's how you'll know whether you're successful or not.) .
