Always having time for your beau is a great thing, especially since there are so many distractions always vying for your attention. However, being together 24/7 may be doing more damage than good to your relationship.

An article on Bustle notes that “spending too much time together is a real recipe for disaster.” At first, the idea may seem novel, but then your natural tendency to be with other people kicks in. You get tired of each other. You even get irritated. At its worst, spending too much time with your significant other may be a sign of an unhealthy codependent symbiosis, or even an abusive relationship.

If you’re giving up certain activities just so you can hang out with your man even if you only end up arguing, then you need to step back and have a life of your own.

Judge Lynn Toler of the American TV Show Divorce Court stresses the importance of having time apart. “You need to cultivate individual lives… and it is something you have to enjoy and look forward to,” she said. “Do that as a gift to your relationship.”

You were your own person before you found each other, and that's who you should remain. A good relationship adds to your individuality, and does not lessen it. Revel in your independence. It won’t only make you feel happier, but it will also make your companionship more satisfying.
