Just because you're not the type to date around doesn't mean there’s nothing you can pick up from women who do. Here are five love and life lessons you can learn from true-blue serial daters.

You have to voice out your wants and needs.
"Being vocal is important," says Paula, 23. "If there's something you're not happy about, you have to tell your guy right away. Besides, life's too short to keep things to yourself—whether you're dating around or otherwise."

The more you understand yourself, the more you'll attract the right men.

"I used to think that I didn't have a type," says Jane, 29. "When I started going out with these two guys, that's when I learned to tell the difference between 'He's just okay' and 'Wow! I really like this person.' Eventually, I started picking men who complement me more instead of going through trial and error."

Feelings can be controlled.

Serial daters learn to keep their emotions in check early on. "It's easy to invest 100 percent of your feelings in another person," says Rhian, 28. "But you really have to learn when to pull back, especially when you feel that the other person isn't really into you. Sometimes, though, you learn that lesson the hard way."

You're responsible for your own happiness.

Speaking of feelings, don't depend on other people to make you happy. "Dating is fun. So is being in a relationship," says Michelle, 31. "But neither should be the only reason you smile or feel good about yourself."

Sometimes, you just have to let things go.
Flings are fairly short-lived. They end once there's nothing in it for either party. "You learn to recognize when things just aren't working anymore," says Leslie, 27. "If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. But if it's not, then you should invest your time and energy on someone or something else."
