The sarcastic call out
Although there’s a study saying that sarcastic people tend to be smarter, sarcasm in marriage can be a big problem. Carrie Cole, a licensed professional counselor in Texas and founder of the Center for Relationship Wellness, says that it can kill a relationship since sarcasm can be seen as ‘contempt.’ Instead of sarcastically calling out your partner for missing an important occasion, suggest rescheduling it so that there won’t be any bad blood between you two.
Stalling
Silent treatments can be deadly. You try to avoid any discussions (or confrontations) with your partner and end up going about your day feeling uneasy because you haven’t settled your relational issues. Stop stonewalling! Stalling won’t do you any good. If you think you’re not yet ready to talk about it, tell him so that he won’t be left second guessing if you’re willing to fix the relationship or not.
The indirect hint
Instead of directly telling your partner what you want, you drop hints. "Oh, Jenny’s husband sent flowers to her office this morning. Isn’t she lucky? I wish someone would do that for me." Really? Not only will it offend your significant other but this also shows that you’re not contented in your relationship. Stop comparing how others show their affection for their partners and focus on how your man expresses his feelings for you. Communication is very important in a relationship.
