No budget for gas? No problem. No money for a swanky restaurant? Not a big deal. Going on budget dates can be fun, especially when it pushes you to become creative. Besides, as long as you and your man are enjoying each other’s company, those shredded chicken strips might as well be duck confit!

Ready to go on that budget-friendly date? Check out our ideas below:

1. Visit local museums.
Thankfully, having an appreciation for the arts and sciences doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. For just a small fee, you and your date can go stargazing at The Planetarium or see magnificent paintings at The National Museum.

2. Go on a Paris-inspired picnic.
Take your cue from the French and invite your man out for a nice brunch of baguettes, cheese, and fresh dalandan (for a local spin) juice out on a grassy lawn. Not only is it very romantic, it also fits perfectly within your budget. Need help setting up? Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day shows you exactly how it's done!

3. Be a shutterbug.
Polish your photography skills by spending half the day taking pictures together. Choose an interesting and relatively deserted location (like a rural spot in Tagaytay a la couple Dutch and Rodney) and snap away. Bring outfit changes to make your date more fun, and don’t forget to take the obligatory selfie!

4. Take a nice evening stroll.
Walking hand-in-hand with your man is incredibly romantic. After all, when was the last time you two had the chance to just be with each other with no TV, Internet, and mobile phones? We thought so. But under the soft moonlight (and in a safe neighborhood, of course) and your hand in his (or vice-versa), you have each other’s undivided attention.

5. Slow dance in your room.
They say nobody ever really goes dancing anymore, at least, not in the way that doesn't involve any form of twerking, but why don't you and your man prove them wrong? All you need is a good playlist, a decent speaker, dim lighting, and your best date dress, and you can slow dance the night away in your room.
