If you thought that once a person ghosts you (read: suddenly disappears into thin air after being done with you and your non-relationship), you're verrry wrong.
There have been a lot of relationship trends (and terms!) going around, and one of the most recent ones to hit the online world is "haunting." So what does this dating term mean? Haunting, according to Seventeen "is when someone from your romantic past lingers in your digital present by occasionally watching your Instagram or Snapchat story, or sporadically liking your posts." Yikes! (via Seventeen.com)
The worst part is that you can't do anything about the person who keeps on haunting you and giving you notifications on your social media accounts. You just have to wait until they get tired and find someone else to bother with their likes. What makes it even more painful is that you keep reading so much into their actions, like "Why does he keep liking my posts?" or "Why does he keep viewing my Instagram stories?" or "Does that mean he's still into me or that he still cares for me?" There are even moments when you find yourself taking comfort in the fact that he still looks out for you.
So how should you deal with this?
You just have to wait for them to get tired and try, really try not to mind how much they've been lurking around your social media accounts. Because, let's admit it, no matter how much you try to make sense of their constant haunting actions, if they really don't want to reconnect with you, they won't. You just have to continue moving on and letting them go. Just like you, they will eventually get tired of lurking and move on from haunting you.
Remember, by this point in your life, if a guy wants to be with you, he will be. Otherwise, find someone who knows your worth--and you definitely deserve more than a like on Facebook.
