Get your kids excited about being back in school by customizing their school things with a bit of DIY magic. Help them make their own notebooks, their own bags, and even their own study area! Not only will you be making school fun for them, you’ll also be getting a few hours of quality time with them each week. Check out a few of our DIY suggestions below.

1. Stylize your children's sneakers.

Do your kids use plain sneakers for their P.E. classes? Why not give a creative spin to their favorite pair? Come up with a design together, and draw an outline of it on the shoes. Grabe a couple of markers, fabric paint, glitter, and draw, draw, draw!

2. Create a personal journal.

If you still have leftover notebooks from the past year, why not bundle them all together to create a few new ones? You won’t only save money on school requirements, you’ll also teach your kids the importance of recycling.

3. Organize a proper work station.

Hit two birds with one stone. Get your kids to clean up their room, and get them thinking more about academics by helping them turn a corner of their room into a mini study area. Gather colorful pencil holders, frame inspiring artwork or posters, and set up a cool little space that even you will want to work in once in a while!

4. It's all in the bag.

Do your kids have a flair for fashion? Why not ask them to design a bag they can bring to school every day? Hart + Sew has an awesome tutorial you can follow here.
