At one point in your life, you’ve probably thought of getting back together with your ex, to pick up right where you left off. But sometimes, rekindling an old flame is not the best idea. Here are seven wrong reasons to reunite with a former love.
You’re lonely.
Just because you’re feeling a little sad and depressed doesn't mean you should seek his companionship. There are a lot of things you can do to fight loneliness. You can go out with your friends, spend time with your family, or go on dates. If you're just not used to being on your own, give yourself some time. Being alone and being lonely are two different things.
The sex was good.
He may be good in bed, but if he took you for granted, cheated on you many times, and never treated you well, then it’s only right you two parted ways.
He says he misses you.
It could be through a text message (why do you still have his number?!), a call, or a Facebook message. Either way, don’t fall for it. You don’t want to make decisions when you’re caught off guard or emotional.
Your family loves him.
Just because your parents approve of him doesn't mean that you should choose him if you no longer feel anything.
You’re emotionally invested.
Whether it’s because he’s your favorite mistake or first love, neither is a valid reason to dive back into a relationship that has probably strained you emotionally and psychologically. Your past is the past for a reason.
Thinking that you can never find anyone like him.
There are a lot of better people out there–all you have to do is keep your eyes peeled. He may your neighbor, that officemate who’s been smiling at you every morning, or a close friend you’ve known for so long. Don’t settle because you deserve someone better!
Hoping it would be better this time.
Is love really sweeter the second time around? Not if it were a really bad breakup. Some women want to keep trying to save a broken relationship, but how far will you go and for how long will you tolerate a relationship that isn’t making you happy anymore?
