1. Being late
These days, almost everyone is late due to traffic jams. It’s an understandable excuse, but let’s face it, traffic has been horrible everywhere for the past years. Respect your date enough to be at your meeting place on time, or if you really can’t help but be late, make sure to inform him about it so that he knows approximately what time to expect you.

2. Not showing up without any notice
A common occurrence during blind dates, being a no-show shows your disregard for the other person's time and reflects badly on your character. Tell your date if you can’t make it. He may get disappointed, but it’s so much better than just leaving him to wait alone at a table for two.

3. Fiddling with your phone
We’re all guilty of focusing more on Facebook feeds than on the person sitting across us when eating out. Make a conscious effort to curb that addiction and be in the present. Talk with your date and be interested in what he has to say. Both of you will appreciate being immersed in a relaxed conversation.

4. Feeling offended when he asks to split the bill with you
Getting the bill is traditionally a gentlemanly thing to do, but this is the 21st century, and you’re a woman capable of paying for your own meal, so if your companion respectfully asks if you can go Dutch, don’t feel slighted. Shell out for your share. If anything, it gives him the impression that you’re financially independent and totally chill about it.

5. Playing games
Being coy may be cute in your early twenties, but once you’re in your late twenties or early thirties, it just becomes a tad bit annoying. Part of “adulting” is actually meaning what you say and saying what you mean, so whether or not you’re into your date, be straight but gentle with him about it. At least you’re saving both of you the time and effort you would have wasted circling the topic.

6. Being overly clingy after the first date
If you’re checking your phone every five minutes for a text or a private message from him, stop. Even if you like each other, don’t expect him to stay connected with you 24/7. You have your own life, and so does he. Relax, be patient, and calmly see where things will lead.
