There are different legal ways of dissolving a marriage, depending on the grounds for having it dissolved. Under Article 36 of the Family Code, a marriage is void if it is contracted by any party who, at the time of the celebration of the marriage, was psychologically incapacitated to comply with the essential marital obligations. On this ground, the marriage can be legally dissolved by filing a petition in court for the declaration of absolute nullity of the void marriage.
