A lot of people say that dating starts to become a bit burdensome after a while (read: past your 20s), but we beg to disagree. Being single in your 30s is great, and it may even be more awesome than being single in your 20s. Want to know why? Check out our list below:

1. You have a better idea of who you are.
Your 20s was a time for experimentation. It was when you made a lot of crazy choices—that bad boy who was obviously trouble, for example. Now that you’re in your 30s, you’re less uncertain about the kind of person you eventually want to settle down with (or not) and less worried about the prospect of missing out.

2. Consequently, you’ve stopped settling for less.
As a self-assured woman, you’ve become more selective about the men you choose to date. Your best friend breathes a sigh of relief as you start setting those egotistical douchebags aside for men who may actually be a good match for you.

3. You no longer have a curfew.
You are officially officially an adult when you hit the big 3-0. Even if you have strict parents, you are now in charge of your own life, and you're more confident of the choices you make.

4. You can actually invite someone up for a nightcap.
Considering you have already moved out of your parents’ home, you now have the right to invite your date up for something more intimate (Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink).

5. You’ve stopped feeling guilty about serial dating.
Not that there’s pressure for you to find someone to marry, but there are plenty of fish in the sea, and you see nothing wrong with dating them all at the same time.

6. You’ve mastered your dating escape plan like a pro.
You and your best friend have the routine down pat. Like a seasoned actress at the local theater, you put on your best "Oh god" face and apologize sincerely for having to cut the date short sans the stammers, the long-winded stories, and the embarrassing loopholes. You’ve gone pro, girl!

7. You’ve also gotten better at letting go.
Walking away from a relationship will always be hard, but you’re at least more willing to move on than, say, five or 10 years ago. After all, you’re a mature adult who can handle anything life throws at her, even if you can’t bear to watch The Notebook or Love Actually for a while.

8. You’ve gotten better at reading men.
You’ve done your time waiting for calls that never came. Now, you’re like Ginnifer Goodwin’s Gigi in He’s Just Not That Into You. You’ve stopped reading too closely for signs that a guy is into you and simply started reading them for what they are. If he likes you, he’ll let you know. If he’s not that enamored (his loss), well, see number five.

9. You can get ready in 15 minutes or less.
After 30 years of living with yourself, you know exactly what looks good on you and what doesn’t. So in times of emergency (a date who’s 30 minutes early), you can take a speedy shower, spritz on body mist, put on a little black dress and some makeup, and come out looking like you spent an hour bathing in milk and another hour leisurely getting ready.

10. You’ve stopped worrying about finding The One.
If there’s one thing that dating in your 20s has prepared you for, it’s that you don’t necessarily have to have a prince charming to be happy. You enjoy dating around, but you also enjoy hanging out with your friends, spending more time with your family, and taking time off from work to have personal me time.
